Below you can find some basic StarCraft II patching assistance when using a Macintosh operating system:
Administrator Account
Ensure that you're logged into an Administrator account, we are unable to offer support when attempting to patch the game on a non-administrator account.
Check your Permissions
If the game was installed on a different administrator account or if the game folder permissions become damaged, the patching process could fail. To check that you have permission to write changes to the StarCraft II folder, follow these steps:
- Navigate to and highlight your StarCraft II folder (normally found in Applications)
- On the menubar, click File then Get Info
- Check that the lock icon in the bottom-right corner is 'unlocked'
- Expand the Sharing & Permissions area
- Set the Privilege for your account to Read & Write
- Set the lock icon to 'lock'
You can also use the Macintosh Disk Utility to check your folder permissions:
- Click Finder (found in the Dock)
- Open Applications, then Utilities
- Run Disk Utility
- Select the hard drive StarCraft II is installed to
- Click Repair Disk Permissions
Duplicate the StarCraft II folder
Make a Duplicate of the StarCraft II folder, delete the original folder and then try patching again.
Uninstall and Reinstall
Move the StarCraft II folder to Trash, delete any files found in your Library/Preferences folder beginning with com.blizzard, and then attempt to reinstall and patch your game.
Check your Memory
If you have any additional memory installed other than the memory your Macintosh had fitted when first purchased, you may need to remove the extra memory to improve your system stability and patch StarCraft II.
