In order to activate your account and receive the initial month included with the game, you need to set up a subscription which will require you to enter either a credit card or game card number. This is obligatory for the activation and creation of the account.
Once you have activated your account, your card will not be billed for the initial month. You can always change or cancel the subscription after the initial setup by going on the Battle.net Account Management page. (See FAQ - Billing and Payment Information 12)
If you do not have access to a credit card, you can create your account with a game card that is available in the stores.
