How does the 10-day time limit work?
The 10-day trial period starts immediately once you activate the free trial in Account Management, and expires after 10 calendar days, whether you play it or not. Since you can only activate this 10-day trial once, please make sure you do so when you are ready to get the most use out of it! Back to top
If the trial is activated when a subscription or another trial is active, no free game time will be granted. However, if your account status is Frozen (i.e. no active game time) then you will be automatically granted 10 free days to enjoy the new Wrath of the Lich King content! Keep this in mind when you activate your trial. Back to top
Can I still login to my existing World of Warcraft game-client once I have upgraded?
No, once you have clicked on the 'Confirm' button on the trial page you will only be able to login by using Wrath of the Lich King game-client for the duration of the trial. For this reason, it is advisable to download the Wrath of the Lich King, or borrow it from a friend, prior to beginning the Starter Edition. You can download all our game-clients at https://eu.battle.net/account/management/download/ Back to top
How do I upgrade to the full version of the Wrath of the Lich King?
If you have a credit card, you can upgrade your account directly online for 34,99€/£29.99 at any time. You can also purchase a boxed copy from the Blizzard Online Store or most major retailers of entertainment software. Back to top
What content do I have access to during the 10-day free trial?
You can start a Death Knight, the new hero class introduced with Wrath of the Lich King, who start their adventuring career at level 55 in a custom starting area. To create a Death Knight you must already have a level 55 character on the chosen realm. You can also take your high level (68+) characters to Northrend, landing in one of two starting areas: Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. While you can complete expansion quests and even pick up some powerful new items, any characters you play during the trial can only advance up to one experience point below level 71. Back to top
What happens to my characters and items after the 10 free days expire?
Any new Death Knight characters you've created will be saved and will be inaccessible until you upgrade to a retail version of the Wrath of the Lich King. Once you've upgraded, they will be unlocked just as you left them, and ready for further adventures. All items and gold you gain while participating in expansion content during the trial period are yours to keep. Any characters that find themselves still in Northrend or any other expansion zone when the trial expires will be transported back to Azeroth or Outland. If the character's bind point was set in Northrend or any other expansion zone, he or she will be transported to one of the default faction locations (Westfall/Barrens). Back to top
Do characters I create during my 10-day free trial count against the character limit?
Yes. These characters will count against your maximum limit of 10 characters per realm and 50 characters per account. If you reach your limit, however, you can delete these characters at any time - even after the Starter Edition period has expired. Back to top
Can I keep any pets I acquire in the expansion zones?
