All Rated Battleground Weeks Now 10v10

All Rated Battleground Weeks Now 10v10

We’re in the process of developing a hotfix to push before next Tuesday that will change all 15vs15 rated battleground weeks into 10vs10 weeks.

Looking at participation, the 10vs10 rated battleground weeks have been far and away more popular than the 15vs15 weeks. The difference in organizational requirements as well as battleground map popularity have been a couple big factors that have led to the 10vs10 weeks seeing a great deal more action. By making this change and supporting the popular option we hope to encourage even more players and teams to participate, as they won’t have to wait out every other week, or struggle to beef up to 15 players to match the requirement.

We also have plans to adapt additional battleground maps in the future to work in the 10 player bracket to increase the variety of maps available.

nice joke! why you cant let both brackets at same week? 10vs10 victory depends only on setup and thats stupid. gg Blizzard you make ppl sad again.

People didn't play 15mans because of 'organizational requirements'? Are you kidding me? The only reason people might have stayed away from 15man battlegrounds is that useless player-vs-vehicle map that noone enjoyed participating in since the day it came out.
Just remove that map and keep 15man weeks with AB and EoS only. A decision like that is way more rational than what you're currently considering...
I have no idea what's been going on recently, but it seems like whoever is making these decisions has absolutely no brain. Is it the same people behind the '1800 honor TB' change that went live for a few days? I mean really...

@Magichunter: There is no 25v25 anymore.
The reason this change was made was probably to help PvE heroes do some PvP too. If you only do Rated BGs once a week, you are probably in a PvE guild, so they made this change for you.
The fact that even you don't like it, says a lot.

Impossible!!!!! Our guild runs rated bgs twice a week.
15v15 is much better than 10v10 and we won more % at this bracket.

Then please make 25v25 raids unavaliable too if 10v10 is more popular!

Dear Blizzard.

You cannot be serious? 10v10 is 2/3 capture the flag 10vs10 zerg and only 1/3 map with actual strategy, although it's not even perfect as it is.

15m include the all-time greatest Arathi Basin - imho the absolute best map to play, especially in Rated BGs where you will have many smaller battles to secure the overall positioning. Even EotS games are fun, which they tbh isn't when you play in a non-premade where half the team will run for the flag even though it's the obviously wrong thing to do.

Why on earth do you intend to remove the most strategic rated BGs? In 15m RBGs you are allowed to include more classes and specs, but in 10v10 the choices are very limited indeed to secure victory. Even though it might be possible, you'd still be much better suited with mages, rogues and warlocks in 10v10, compared to other classes.

I personally am stubborn enough to keep playing elemental shaman even though we could really need a welcome fix, especially to our mana issues. But tbh my spots in 10m weeks are very limited because casters spots are given to mages in particular and also locks. In 15m weeks at least I got a decent chance to claim myself worthy of participating.

So now you're not only ruining my favorite maps, but also decreasing my chance of getting into a RBG game because of the class and spec I play.

It's not rocket science to conclude that 1000 people playing RBGs each week will result in 100 10v10 teams, but only 66 15v15 teams. Ofc the 15m weeks are not as "popular" (in numbers of teams), but if you consider the amount of players participating my guess is that it can't be that much off?

It did not take a genius to predict that a 10-man bracket would end up being more "popular". What kind of argument is this? Going by this "logic", 25-man raids should be removed because 10-man raids are way more popular (and why offer people a choice, anyway). 2v2 arena bracket remains the most popular of all, and yet it somehow didn`t stop them from stripping it of all tangible benefits.
For the sake of ill conceived "balance"? With two maps out of the mere three offered being Capture The Flag type and everything being fairly predictable now, it`s not like we won`t see the emergence of specifically tailored setups. It`s already such a great fun trying to catch a Horde druid flag carrier in Twin Peaks (hint: use the water surrounding your base and even leading straight to your flag room). Great balance design right there.

I know what lineup there will be :D - 2 holy pals 2 warriors 1-2 priests, 1-2 dk`s 1-2 mages and maybe shammy. GG.
You`re making early decision, because many strong players push arenas till now, and because of it 15vs15 prems are little harder to gather up. Wait for about 1-2 month`s and you will see you`re wrong.

This is such a big joke really. Two of the best BG's Eots and AB removed from the pool? Seriously?

The main issue is accesibility....u dont solve this by removing the 15 man bracket.

So for me as a hunter usually there is no place in 10vs10 prem's. I hardly get invited in 15vs15 as a survival for aoe and traps (CoTA), or as a bm for solo def Farm in Arati. If u remove 15vs15 bracket, i will not be able to find a spot in prem, coz im less usefull comparing to mage or dk. For now pvp have only one form for me - it is rated battlegrounds. And i spend most of the time in game playing against players on bg`s, so if you make such a change, many people will leave the game.

The kind of players that actually plays BGs, the players who support it, and the players that Blizzard needs to keep playing, are playing the 15 v 15 bracket.

Removing Arathi and EotS is like removing Nagrand or Blade's Edge arenas. Maybe you don't see it just yet, but you guys are about to see the death of Rated BGs the seam season they see the light. This is going to be epic, but not the 'cool' way

Why can't we have both at once? I don't get it. If you think 15v15 have such a weak turnout that they have to be canceled and your numbers tell you so I might cave, though I still don't see why you would readily remove this option so early in the game.
But if the only reason this is done is because there are people who cannot field 15v15 teams, then just allow both at once and let people pick. It really sounds like a peculiar choice. I mean let people pick and if it ends up that either bracket is suffering to the point where queues cannot run then OK, reconsider. But I really think all BGs should have been allowed (yes even 25v25 versions of AV and IoC). Rotate the BGs in each bracket if you have to (though I'd expect noone would want to do 15v15 on the SotA week then . . .)

Rated BG's should be restructured somehow so you can join on an individual basis.
Too few people play it and limiting it to 10 players is just saying: "it is an arena kind of thing" with 10 players.

I have the impression on many servers rated BG's are rarely played and IF played you need to be top dog to even be accepted.

The mechanism as a whole failed to bring in new competitive players. Limiting the number to 10 isn't solving the real problems with it.

After discussing this with my guild members we came to the following conclusion:
This change was made purely, and only, to help PvE guilds do Rated BGs. This means that PvP guilds like my own, will be penalized so PvE players get a higher chance to actually play some Rated BGs.
Our conclusion was that before this change could be seen as viable, there should be a change in PvE beneficial for PvP players, like resilience increasing dmg against a raid boss.
I know this is a stupid idea, but it would only be fair since PvP is getting changed to benefit PvE players, which is not how it's supposed to be

I have always been positive about the ideas implemented into the game, but I just can't believe there were actually some minutes of thinking wasted on this one. There are enough people who still love to play 10v10, and this change is just really singleminded.
I really love Cata so far, I've got practically nothing to complain about, but as an active PvPer and an officer in a big PvP guild, I do not like this change and I don't think it was actually thought through.

The only reason why 10v10 has a higher participation is because nobody wants to play SotA....its all you ever get in 15v15. The amount of people asking you to remove SotA is insane but all you do is remove all 15v15 BG's instead..
Sort yourselves out Blizzard or soon you'll all be on the unemployed list.

I haven't done any rated BG's yet, but why is it impossible for you, Blizzard, to use the same system as arenas, where u can chose between the 3 brackets? I really understand the frustration from players here, and it makes just as much sense that you would suddenly change raids into 8- and 20-man, forcing people to cut players from the team.

I would think this was an awesome chang if Ring of Frost was removed.

10man bgs is where its retadidly OP and slowing down the game. Pop one inside WSG tunnels and an entire team need to wait it out.
Pop one at a BGF node and noone can cap.

This change to 10mans only is silly as long as that feature can hit the game to a paus for its entire duration.

Once again you're removing options from the game. I don't understand at all why there had to be specifically sized weeks at all. Just let both 10 and 15 games coexist all the time. Speaking of which. Add 25v25. Give options, don't remove them.

Very disappointed by that decision. Battlegrounds that required the most skill are out of the coverege. CTF requires the specific setup, where as capture the flag is much more flexible and interesting as it seems to me. And on the opposite we usually have more than 10 ppl to play with, hence there are left overs. Plese, reconsider.

Remove 15v15? So you just decided to make useless hours of training and playing. You just killed all 15v15 roosters. What do they have to do now? Kick 5 players to keep playing rated battlegrounds.
Whats next? Killing 5v5 arenas?
What an anoying and absurd decision.

In the first place, how can u change the system on the midd of a season? WTF!?
In the second place that's amazing. Play 10vs means choosing some specific classes such as mages (or other uber classes), conditioning the teams. Then r u gonna turn rated bgs onto big 2vs?
Amazing, GJ Blizz.

Just a real bad idea.
Houra, CtF map and crappy Gilneas for the next 6 months ?

Some guild come on Cataclysm for rated BGs, and you shoot thems in the feets.

If you really want do that, make your new maps 10v10 really quickly or this is the end.

So you change the core system in a middle of a season?! I'm very dissapointed. Me and our clan probably will be dissolving. This is the best excuse to leave the game.
Why blizzard can't wait when the season finishes to do this?!

I would like to see the 10man raids to be forced to play only new 7man raids.

Of course this is much more advantage for the casters, because they are much more useful than meele classes in 10v10, now only monkeys setups full of warlocks and mages in 10v10.
Thanks Blizzard for ruining the meele classes a bit more only one more thing to say if this go to live servers i not renew my subscription, I do not like to be a useless class.
