4.1 Preview -- Guild Finder

4.1 Preview -- Guild Finder

In patch 4.1 we'll be introducing the Guild Finder, a new system designed to enable easier and faster guild recruitment. Guild leaders and players who are looking for a guild to call home will use the Guild Finder to meet one another and begin communications that can lead to a prosperous membership.

The Guild Finder is intended to act as an in-game bulletin board for guilds that are actively recruiting. Previously in World of Warcraft, your options were limited. You would have to publicly post on your realm forum message board, or speak to other players directly via private messages or the chat channels. That can be a time consuming process. Guild Finder will allow your “looking for new members” message to work 24 hours a day, accessible to all of the characters in your faction, from anywhere in the game.

A new Guild Finder button will now appear on your Micro Menu if you're either a guild leader or currently unguilded.

As a guild leader, you will indicate one or more of the common guild interests (such as PvP, Raids, or Role Playing), a general time of the week availability you’re looking for (Weekdays or Weekends), and which class roles you seek from new members (Tank, Healer, Damage). The Comment field is where you can say anything you like about your guild and/or the sort of members you seek. Do you only accept female orcs? Is your guild slowly transitioning from 10-person to 25-person raiding? Perhaps you’ll only accept new members who are available to play on Thursdays at noon? This is the place to say so, and help potential recruits determine whether your guild is what they’re looking for.

From the perspective of an unguilded player, the Guild Finder allows you to browse through a list of the guilds currently looking for new members. Just launch the Guild Finder, tell it about your availability, class role, and the sorts of guild activities you’re looking for, and then click “Browse Guilds.” This will take you to the second tab, where you’ll see a list of recruiting guilds that fit your profile. Here you can read about them and, if you like what you see, submit a request to join.

Requests submitted to recruiting guilds appear in the Requests tab. From this third tab, guild leaders can examine potential recruits and proceed with the final steps toward new membership.

Whether you’re a guild leader looking to fill your ranks or a player looking for a guild that meets your strictest requirements, the Guild Finder provides an easy way to make new friends!

Well i think the guild finder feature is a really good idea. My beef is with the guild perk system... Why create a new guild at all when new players go straight to the guilds that dominate realms just for the perks....

[SUGGESTION] The only imrovement I expect is "mail to the applicant" button for Guild Masters and Officers. Its so damn hard to find the players online to inform them about our guild.

Peace out..

The idea is useful, but wouldn't it be more useful if it showed to all people? How many people leave a guild and then start looking for a new one? I'd say that most people who are looking to change guilds are in a guild already.

is it possible to make something popup or let the guild icon blink if a request is entered on the guildfinder, as for now we missout to invite people as they are long offline before we see a request.

Nobody else sees the problem of only the Guild Leader being able to use this tool? What about us officers who are in charge of recruitment?

Even though I'm new to WoW, I welcome the addition. I've been trying to find other new players and form a guild to learn by ourselves, this tool can make the process easier and of course it will be useful for all kinds of people out there according to their playing style. Besides, a huge plus compared to the forums is that anyone can use it, one click away, really easy to use.

E: you should be able to view the recruitment part even if you're in a guild already. now you would first have to leave your guild and HOPE that there will be another guild out there recruiting people with your needs.

Even tho that post wasnt to do with mainly this feature, Maybe blizzard wants to take on some of the ideas ive put forward to improve the guild feature for raiding guilds.

Nice tool tho, cant wait to see it hopefully go into good action, than the typical danish treat forcasts of "wanna join my guild?"

hm, this Darklordss-guy puts the Horde to shame..

Anyway, on topic: looking forward to this feature. Anything that can make an existing feature more efficient is a good addition in my opinion and I can't see why people would be against this.

Very good idea! Now we won't get too much "LF GUILD" spam in trade chat, and it would be good with public guilds, that everyone can join and its owned by you, the gms/blizz.

To all those saying "guilds want website applies". Well, they'll just leave that information in the "comment" section, problem solved.

Its a nice addition that will mainly benefit lower levels in climbing the ladder quicker but im finding myself at lvl 85 getting annoyed with my own guild as they will not let me raid as i "do not have good enough gear" even though i have most epics available to me, and if this is happening within a not well known guild i stand no chance in find a guild using this tool

@Lopex: Just quit the guild if they're treating you bad, but I suggest waiting for patch 4.1 so you don't have wait hours.

@Lopex: Felhound makes a good point. Though I would sort out your enchants before you apply to any guild tbh. Legs, gloves don't have enchants; belt doesn't have buckle, chest + wrist + boots enchants are all wrong, enchanting isn't high enough to enchant your rings, engineering isn't high enough to be useful. I can't comment on your gemming / reforging as I don't know about rogues - the comments I have made though are made correctly however.

your guild isn't doing that much raiding (8/12 normal mode) but still in your gear you should be fine going along to raids in normal modes - heck I was in 356 gear when I started heroic modes so 350 is more than sufficient for normals.

I recommend - sort out your enchants, maybe do a few PUG runs (you never know you might get lucky), make sure your gemming and reforging is right (they may be but I'm just saying be sure) then apply to a new guild that is around 10/12 (they shouldn't have too many problems accepting you, while a guild doing heroics may question the fact that you don't have normal mode experience).

Hope my comments help :)

@Lopex: P.S. I checked out your guild's resto shaman and his / her gear enchants, gems etc. and trust me compared to the bits I would change on your gear their's is a disgrace.

Tbh, im ungilded atm, and as a ilvl 350 enhance shaman, (PvE) it would be nice to see what kind of guilds that i can apply to without Spaming trade channel for sugestions of guilds, or using 5 hours to search forums to find something that suits me and my gameplay.. i give my thumb's up for this one, and fyi Darklordss, there are good geared raiders that may be unguilded for several reasons, mine for example is that my old guild disbanded and transfered to another server ;)

this will be helpfull in one way: less LF guild spam in trade etc.

but I don't think it will help much, most guild leaders will try to find and
inspect you, and will result in you beeing declined if your not fully epic geared.
(belive me..I have experience with this)
most guild leaders want well geared members but are rarely willing to work for it...
it seems gear weights more then experience and skill in wow today...
belive me I've seen duels where the part with way better gear then the other part has lost because of the
other ones ability to outsmart the better geared one..

I saw two orc DKs duel in wintergrasp in WOTLK one had an
GS of around 5.7k , and the other one barely had 3k, yet the one with 3k humiliated the other one...

and still the 5.7 was chosen for VOA because he hit alittle harder..and guess what? I know the raid leader,
and they wiped because of HIM..how? i have no clue..never got to do VOA even with an GS of 5.5K i was told i wasnt well enough geared for it(pve gear OFC)
so HE learned..but that is almost like peeing in the ocean...it wont rise much

skill and int > gear, and uintill wow players realise this this problem will be a thorn in our sides

but thx for trying..atleast now it looks like your TRYING..and that is good..

OH!! flame shield activate!
