World of Warcraft is Now Available in Portuguese (Brazilian)

The Hour of Twilight is upon us! Today’s maintenance is over and all the content included in Patch 4.3 is now available. But we have some more news for you: we’re glad to announce that the Portuguese (Brazilian) localization of the game client is now available for your enjoyment!
So how can you use this new language option? Don’t worry – it couldn’t be easier, and it can be done either via the World of Warcraft Launcher, or directly from the login screen in-game. Let’s look at both of them in detail:
Selecting from the World of Warcraft Launcher
- Start the World of Warcraft Launcher
- Click on “Options” in the menu bar, and then click on “Game Preferences”
- Select “Portuguese (EU)” from the menu in the lower left corner, and then click on “OK”
- Wait for the Launcher to download the language data
- When enough data has been downloaded you can start the game by clicking on the “Play” button
Selecting from the Login Screen
- Start World of Warcraft
- Click on the “Options” button
- Click on “Languages” on the left of the menu, and then select “Português (Portugal)” from the menu and click on “Okay”
- Click on “Quit” and then restart the game
By following either one of these procedures you will be able to enjoy World of Warcraft in your chosen language!
Divirta-se!

The problem here is not the translation of dialects but the translation of core names such as historical places and characters. I would rather like them to be in English.
Apart from that, please allow us to play on official Portuguese realms, be it with Brazilian players or Portuguese players.
As for the bickering about PT-PT or PT-BR, well that is just as idiotic as comparing Scottland's English to England's English...
Both can understand both! (unless the Scottsman is drunk lol)
And yes, I am a Portuguese player born in Brazil, but from Portuguese parents. So peace out and much love to both countries. :)

- Even in an Island like Sri Lanka, or the far reaches of the African Continent, in any capital of the world you can find a significant number of Brazilians.
And you are right, there is an agreement going on and intend to make all portuguese "dialects" to be more similar. But you are wrong stating that brazilian portuguese is "deppendent" of portuguese portuguese. If you go around the reports in CPLP (Comunidade de Países de Língua Portuguese - Portuguese Language Coutries Community) you will know that Brazil has CHOSEN to agree that our language remain being known as portuguese, and just for the sake of being part of CPLP. Since long time ago that Brazilian authorities in the matter could, would and should change its language to something like a "Brazilian" language. And that is something not being made for the sake of political convenience.
Our language is indeed different. In fact, WoW isnt in Brazilian portuguese, because as far as I've seen the translation, many things are translated like in Portugal, not like in Brazil.
And for GOD sakes blizzard, in Portugal I dont know, but in Brazil we would never translate Stormwind, nor any city names, NPC names or many other things you guys did.
And for @Xeqmate, you better not give history lessons about things you dont know. From LONG time ago, and it dates back hundreds of years, the portuguese language to remain being the offical language of brazil was GIVEN to portuguese people as an agreement in which it was done to "please" portugal in order to achieve other diplomatic goals. But you can find on google hundreds of pages containing the true version of what would be the brazilian language today, and sadly it isnt.
Luckly the portuguese government doesnt have the distorted view of history you have.
But I would love to speak Brazilian as it was shortly after the independence. That is a beautful language.

Ok so the PT-pt PT-br issue is bad and we all know it, but having PT-br for the time being is better then nothing I gess... anyway, acording to TOC we cant modify game files in any way, but will we be allowed to make our own PT-PT version of the localization files? All I wanted was a way for names (items, locations, npcs) to remain in english (cos we have been seeing them like that for years now) and keep the rest of the translation in PT-br.
Other question I have is how are the numbers formated, for example we use the " , " instead of the " . " and we do not have the word "Billion" in PT-PT... here are 2 examples:
- in English we have 10,000.50g (ten thousand gold and fifty silver) in portuguese numeration we type it down like this: 10.000,50g
- Also what in English is "1Billion" in Brazilian is "1Bilhão" but in Portuguese we say 1000Milhões (1000Millions)
So as you can see depending on how this was translated into the game allot of confusion can come from here and addon localizations or lack of it will only make it worse.

Here is a history lesson. I don't mean in anyway to insult the Brazilian population, i have a huge respect for them and many of my friends are in fact from Brazil.
Portuguese is from Portugal, not Brazil. In fact, we Portuguese consider Brazilian wrong in many ways. Just because there is an international agreement evolving Portugal and Brazil about uniting both languages, i can guarantee that 90% of the Portuguese population is against it. It changes things that shouldnt be changed (for instance: tie and act become the same thing and are written the same way, one of millions of examples)
I love you're idea but Portuguese (Portugal) is the "mother language" and the correct one. Besides, the number of Brazilians in Europe is very low, this because BRAZIL ISNT IN AMERICA! Make the PT(BR) version for AMERICAN REALMS ONLY... please... show some respect for the Portuguese population.

A language that has been passed down to so many people has been divided into many languages, thus making Latin into Spanish, English, French etc. but Spanish/ Portuguese and then Brazil Portuguese/ Portugal Portuguese? nah, they be dialects, mon!!
In conclusion dialect = differentiality in ONE language caused by: Geographical, political, historical, and even cultural differences.

All im saying is create Brazilian Portuguese realms in America and Portuguese Portugal realms in EUROPE!!! COME ON!!!!
This is an insult honestly! No desrespect to the Brazilians in the world but come on Blizzard, dont mix the languages, they are completely different! O "acordo ortografico" é uma ##!!@! vergonha!! Devia ser uma decisão dada ao povo e nao a um grupo de gajos.
