Dragon Soul Difficulty Change

Dragon Soul Difficulty Change

During the scheduled server maintenance on the week of February 28, the “Power of the Aspects” spell will grow more powerful, reducing the health and damage dealt of all enemies in the Dragon Soul raid by 10%. This spell will grow progressively stronger over time to reduce the difficulty and make the encounters more accessible. The spell will affect both normal and Heroic difficulties, but it will not affect the Raid Finder difficulty.

Don’t need the help of the Dragon Aspects? The spell can be disabled by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz at the beginning of Dragon Soul.

We hope you continue to enjoy Dragon Soul, and that these changes encourage you to attempt a higher difficulty, or just keep pushing to down that next boss.

I'm personally against the nerf. I don't mind about the nerf on normal difficulty, but it takes away the challenge on heroic mode for those who want it. And yes I know that the nerf can be turned of but by my experience those people enjoying challenge are also quite competitive and want to see how well are they doing in comparison to the other guilds. So with the nerf they have to decide if they prefer the challenge or competition whereas without it they could get both. So in reality the choice is more like an illusion of choice.

Some people might throw in the argument of accessibility of content, but what is the point of creating 3 different difficulties if they end up nerfing them anyway? Wouldn't it be more useful to make less difficulties and concentrate on the quality of the raids instead, make them hard in the beginning for the top guilds and then start nerfing them slowly after they have cleared the content.

But as it seems that we won't be able to get away from these nerf best decision in my opinion would be that Blizzard could nerf heroic content a couple of months later than the normal content or the could do like they did in t11. Nerf the normal content, but keep heroic content as it is and only nerf specific bosses when they need balancing like the heroic spine.

I get that some hardcore raiders arent happy with this. They want do distinguish themselfs from the majority and do so by wearing better gear and having more (difficult) achievements. With these changes they wont stand out as much anymore and that sucks for them. But...

In the end this will make the game so much more fun! In the past you couldnt play with everyone you wanted cuz they didnt play the right class of lacked skill. Now you can raid with whoever you want, make stupid jokes, drink wine, smoke grass, laugh till you cry and still make some progress. You'll see that having phat epics, uber achieves and being number whatever on the server dont even cross your mind anymore;)

oh well, fixing bugs (like ball on zonozz, lightning on hagara, sword tentacles on ultraxion, not working lock havoc and many many more) is too complicated, let's just nerf it instead so bugs won't matter! pathetic.

you might think I`m a #*#%*!*@% of some sorts or might not think that. But what Blizzard is doing right now is 100% smart and intuitive. If you play this game only to log on wowprogress.com and see that you`re #1 guild on your realm then just go to stormwind and say shìtty stuff like " look at me i`m #1 " you should really consider quitting this game.

The very obvious reasons for the nerfs are that most of the people play to enjoy the game. Probably less than 2-3% play it so that they can go full nerd-mode in Stormwind with their achies.

Our guild did indeed turn off the nerfs simply for the fact that we're raiding to have fun as a group of friends and we'd feel we didnt have anything else to do if till Pandaria if we clear all the content and when we finally killed warmaster hc with no nerfs active it did felt good. BUT there is nothing wrong with keeping the nerfs active if you and your friends are struggling at something, simply put it this way : you`ll probably get the current boss you`re struggling on down, but a next boss awaits you even if nerfed, it should still pose a big problem.

To conclude Blizz should get a tap on the back cause they're doing a great job keeping both dedicated players and more casual ones still playing and I might insult someone by saying this but I really do not care for the nerds that saying the game is ruined cause they allow THE OPTION to make it available to casual players while STILL LETTING MORE DEDICATED PLAYERS STILL ENJOY THEIR GAMING EXPERIENCE.

Cheerios blizz, you`ve grown in these 7 years.

@Wärwick: You might think it's ok to reward substandard players, but not all people agree with that sentiment. The very fact that you abhore people who like to achieve speaks for itself. Most people who raid at high levels, do so for the reputation amongst the community, and deserve every right to enjoy that, who are you to determine what is right and wrong. Heroic raids are meant to be intended to be difficult, not facerolled by any players that feel they are entitled to it. There is such a thing as dedication, perseverance, competitive spirit and a desire to better oneself. Belittling that doesn't make you the better person, i'm sorry.

@Wärwick: I'm not sure I follow your logic. Wasn't the LFR brought in to allow people who play the game to experience and enjoy end game content without being part of a hardcore raid team?

It's not obvious to me the reason for the nerf is for people who play to enjoy the game. I play and I enjoy the current content. More importantly I enjoy the challenge of the content as it is now.

@Onesimus: by your logic since I got better progression you should be listening to me, and I tell you to simply stop using the nerf if you feel DS is not matching your skills.

@Wärwick: Pat on the back for warwick here...Altho I do not raid at all atm or whatever. This is exactly what I see blizzard trying as well - altho its a really really hard job -, to keep both parties happy (casual and or somewhat hardcore).

Good to see someone actually backing up blizz for once...

All I'll say to those who are QQ-ing over Raids getting 'easier' is; "Your fault for clearing it in the first week (or however early you completed it) of release, leaving nothing left to do..."
Others have said as much; find a game that is renowned for it's "iron-balls" developers who never nerf their code & add content on request... or, if WoW really IS too lightweight a game, just quit play & complaining & leave the rest of us in peace to play the game we love... the only Trolls WoW needs are the ones that Vol'jin is the leader of.

Can someone explain where to turn the nerfs off in the instance? I don't care for better rewards/achievements. I do however want a challenge which the instance is sorely lacking.

Have to agree with Wulf, and this is, in my view, a good thing. Classic and TBC end game was inaccessible to journeyman players. The WotLK model got loads of people playing end game in the end and generated lots of fun for a lot of people - can't be a bad thing overall surely

I'm off the opinion that turning it off and doing harder runs etc should give you bigger rewards. Though it's cool that they make it accesible for everyone.

To add, I also think there should be an archievement for disabling the buff and then completing it or archievements removed for using the buff. Just to keep hardcore players interested. It isn't really fair on them this way.

And sure enough the ussual "... it's killing the game", "catering to the whiner", "noobs wearing heroic gear (makes me jealous)" comments follow.

Now guys here is the reality... the game you want... (Vanilla/TBC)... will attract a handful of nerds. The game Blizzard wants (MoP etc)... will attract mothers and daughters, fathers and sons and perhaps even your grandparents. It is a game for the masses and it generates more income. The exclusive game you want is not going to happen. It is gone... your complaints are pointless... your energy is best spend finding a game that suits you more instead of making players (that pay their earned money and enjoy the game very very much) feel like they are getting hand outs and are not worthy of playing this wonderful game.

It is insulting and you do not have that right.

they should atleast lower gear stats for people Using the buff....its IS killing the game to see people wearing heroic lvl gear when they are subpar players.

the people that generally say this is a good move are the players that started in wrath and were used to the faceroll raids after ulduar.

Blizzard Lost Controll of WoW as soon as activision Bought them out...it went from being a complex and Challenging Lvling experience and immense Endgame raid experience to....this piece of crap we have now.

its kinda unfair to the people that do play this game for a challenge....there isnt 1 anymore....the normal encounters as they stood were too easy before the buff...so MoP has alot to change or alot more people will quit.

@Theoin: the issue here lies, in activision, thay want to make WoW more like call of duty, instead of a game you get guided experience and nothing more, soon thar will be forced walking sesions and strict leveling route...
The one thing Blizz needs to do is stop listening to whiners about this game is too hard , it is supposed to be hard, Suck it up and get better or get away.
