The renowned sorceress Jaina Proudmoore has long struggled to maintain a lasting peace between the Alliance and horde.

But now, as mounting tensions threaten to ignite a new era of conflict, her hopes for peace could be extinguished forever...

Warchief Garrosh, obsessed with assuring the Horde’s supremacy over Kalimdor, launches an all-out attack against Jaina's island home of Theramore. Though the valiant Alliance defenders rush to repel the sudden onslaught, they’ll soon find themselves unprepared for the terrible scope of Garrosh's true plans…

The destruction wrought by the Horde’s brazen attack irrevocably transforms Jaina, propelling the kindhearted diplomat down a path of grief and vengeance that will alter not only her destiny – but the destiny of Azeroth itself.

I live in the UK and haven't been able to find it in any bookshops :-(. Has anybody seen it anywhere? If not I guess I can just get it off amazon, but internet shopping is boring!

I'm quite angry about this. Especially as it's out in the US and some of my friends are already half way through it...

I pre-ordered it, expecting an August 28th release date not only to tie in with the American release but to tie in with patch day.

Amazon say delivery in 2-4 weeks (!!!), Waterstones (a major UK book store) had difficulty finding it on their system when I rang up to ask. They don't have a release yet and the chap I spoke to said it could be because of a print error (translating "color" to "colour" and so on) as he sees it happen a lot to these lines of books.

I know this has very little - if anything - to do with Blizzard, so my ire is directed at the publisher Simon and Schuster (http://www.simonandschuster.co.uk).

interesting i dont actually read any of these books, but reading this small peace gives me epic thoughts, it saddens me that Jaina will become insane, her power alone could easily tear apart Kalimdor making it something like Outland, damn it wish she could just kill garrosh and get over with it, but i guess we will have to do it ourselves in moP anyway -.-

Christie Golden and Richard Knaak are both really good writers, I'm delighted with both of them, the way they present the lore and everything else, they are gr8. I'm really happy that there are more and more books coming out. Cheers.

I was relieved when I heard it was going to be written by Christie Golden rather than Knaak.
I don't like Knaak's style. He can't right any character or race as being grey and can only make black and white presentations of characters which gets generic and almost boring after a while and wouldn't be worth reading if it weren't for the simple fact it's WoW lore.

So they are going to turn one of the only good characters left into a villain, and probably some raid boss. Blizzard really don't like their characters do they.

I might read it, because it is a Christie Golden book, but I really don't like the way they are going with the lore of warcraft.

@Merwanor: Agreed, I've always liked jaina about the most, she's always been one of my favourite characters in wow, and now they'll end her destiny by being some kind of raidboss. Atleast they have to make it a epic fight or I'll take a flight over there and smack 'em in the face.

For those who are as giddy as i am for the relase is here something from the german amazon shop about this book release:

“Nothing is free, Go’el,” Jaina Proudmoore said. “Your knowledge and skills were bought at a cost. The . . . orc you left behind in your place had done much harm in your absence. If I have heard about what is going on in Orgrimmar and Ashenvale, surely you must have!”

Go’el’s mind, which had been deeply peaceful, now looked troubled. “I have heard, of course.”

“And . . . you do nothing?”

“I have another path,” he said. “You have seen the results of that path. A threat that—”

“Go’el, I hear this, but now that task is over. Garrosh is stirring up trouble between the Alliance and the Horde—trouble that didn’t exist until he started it. I can understand if you don’t wish to undermine him publicly, but—perhaps you and I can work together. Form a summit of sorts. Ask Baine to join us; I know he has no love for what Garrosh is striving for. I could speak with Varian. As of late, he seems to be more reachable. Everyone respects you, even in the Alliance, Go’el. You have earned that respect because of your actions. Garrosh has earned nothing but mistrust and hatred because of his.”

She indicated her cloak, which had blown about with the wind he had sent to bear her to shore. “You can control the winds as a shaman. But the winds of war are blowing, and if we do not stop Garrosh now, many innocents will pay the price for our hesitation.”

***

The ashes of the Cataclysm have settled across Azeroth’s disparate kingdoms. As the broken world recovers from the disaster, the renowned sorceress Lady Jaina Proudmoore continues her long struggle to mend relations between the Horde and the Alliance. Yet of late, escalating tensions have pushed the two factions closer to open war, threatening to destroy what little stability remains in the . . .

Dark news arrives in Jaina’s beloved city, Theramore. One of the blue dragonflight’s most powerful artifacts—the Focusing Iris—has been stolen. To unravel the item’s mysterious whereabouts, Jaina works with the former blue Dragon Aspect Kalecgos. The two brilliant heroes forge an unlikely bond during their investigation, but another disastrous turn of events looms on the horizon. . . .

Garrosh Hellscream is mustering the Horde’s armies for an all-out invasion of Theramore. Despite mounting dissent within his faction, the brazen warchief aims to usher in a new era of Horde domination. His thirst for conquest leads him to take brutal measures against anyone who dares question his leadership.

Alliance forces converge on Theramore to repel the Horde onslaught, but the brave defenders are unprepared for the true scope of Garrosh’s cunning and deceptive strategy. His attack will irrevocably transform Jaina, engulfing the ardent peacekeeper in the chaotic and all-consuming . . . TIDES OF WAR

@Kazumidaito: Thanks for that extract :)

I find it a little funny that blizzard were all "The dragons are no more! It's all up to you guys now!" but she's clearly still working with Kalec, even if he is mortal.
