Free Character Migration to New Italian Realms

Free Character Migration to New Italian Realms

With the Italian-language version of World of Warcraft coming soon, we’ll be opening two new Italian realms in Europe. We look forward to welcoming many new and returning Italian-speaking players, and invite them to experience World of Warcraft in their native language.

Our two new Italian realms will include a PvE realm, Pozzo dell’Eternità, and a PvP realm, Nemesis. They’ll both be added to the same Battlegroup, Misery. These two realms are dedicated to our Italian-speaking community, and therefore support will only be available in Italian.

To allow our Italian community to gather on its two new dedicated realms, we’ll be providing Free Character Migration (FCM) from realms that currently have a considerable number of Italian players. If you are currently on one of the source realms listed below, you’ll be able to move your characters to the designated destination realms.

As it’s not possible to provide free character transfers from every single realm, we’re currently evaluating alternative transfer options for Italian players not covered in this plan. We’re doing our very best to accommodate as many Italian players as possible, but at this time we can’t guarantee free transfers for Italian players on realms not listed below.

You can initiate the migration in your Battle.net account by going into your World of Warcraft Game Management and clicking on Free Character Migration. Your character will then be moved to one of these new realms. This is a one-time, one-way move for characters coming from eligible FCM source realms. For any characters coming from non-eligible realms, you’ll need to use the Paid Character Transfer service.

We’re also offering support for guilds to transfer for free from eligible source realms. While a “Free Guild Master Transfer” is technically not possible, we’ll reimburse the costs of Guild Master Realm Transfers as outlined in our FAQ. Please note that other guild members must initiate their Free Character Migration after their Guild Master Realm Transfer has been completed.

Please be aware that if the target realms become full, we may have to close the FCM service without warning. If you plan to change realms with friends or with your guild, we recommend that you coordinate the effort to reduce the chance of anyone being left behind.

FCM will be made available in different waves – you’ll find a detailed breakdown below. Each wave will last for two weeks or until the destination realms are full. We’ll be sure to highlight which realms are eligible for free transfers each time a new wave begins. The first wave will start when the Italian realms become available.

We hope you enjoy these new Italian realms!

@Arafenix: Why not Esperanto? It's a way more useless!

Seriously, there should be an Esperanto and 1337 client, and a talk-like-a-pirate one. Just for fun.

Imo do not give to all the italians among all realms the possibility to have the free transfer it's really an abuse and probably just a silly way to earn a bit more from the payed transfer. Laws and right should be the same for all of us considering we pay the same amount each month form years. And plx don't tell me in future maybe..... our role is to pay your to solve the problems and give us an answer before we spend our money to move where other italians go for free. Probably i'm going to quit

@Sinfader: you'd better consider a foundamental concept: "DEDICATED SERVER".
Free Trasnfer -> Dedicated Server only.
So Hakkar and Crushridge (english server) are not longer speaking italian 24/7. You'd must be happy for this... no way! you are felling "discriminated", because italians got a free transfert. Ridicolous.

It's inconvenient that the migration starts one day later than MoP launches. Having to wait for character migration in the busiest time of the game sounds like trouble. Why not make it earlier? :)

The only reason why Blizzard has created Italian client and servers is in the hope to get more Italians play the game and NOT for the already existing players. Why would they care? They've been already paying to play a game in English. Thus, since Nordic people are generally not stopped by the fact that the game is in English (they are used to it), there will be 0 interest for Blizzard to create a special server/client for those players

We need a Danish/scandinavian version of World of Warcraft. there is like 20-30% of the entire "wow" players are scandinavian, so Blizzard you should think about it making a Realm for Denmark/Scandinavia. would be epic to have it. For now thanks for you that will see and read my comment and opinion.

@Metherlance: I think he means 20-30% in Europe are Scandinavians. but last i heard, there has been like 150k people in Sweden only who have played WoW, thats quite a lot of people. so i think if we would combine Norway, Denmark and Sweden, and who knows maybe the Finns would love to be a part of a Scandinavians servers?

I'm italian, but Ill keep the game in english, and keep of course my current realm (why should I go to a new, probably very low pop server and change guild?)! In addition the italian translations are just horrible (IMHO) and personally, I fully agree with grismm!

@Grijo: I don't think WoW is a good way to learn how to write/speak english...Yes, it may be useful to learn some words, but for those whose english skills are low, playing WoW in english may be displeasing and discouraging. :)

@Targor: Yeah, this is true as well! But I remember that when I was a child (back in the 90'), games were a huge stimulus to learn english (talking about dune, c&c, etc etc). Maybe WOW it's not a way to learn, but can be an incentive!
What do you think about translations? For instance ''Stormwind'' can't be ''Roccavento''... it just makes it less epic! They could have kept at least places and npc names in english :)

@Grijo: I don't think that these translations are less epic than the original names. In my opinion, this feeling of dislike is mainly due to the fact that we've been playing this game in english since 2004 and now we are used to the english version of places/names. Think: if the game had been translated in italian since the beginning, now you wouldn't consider the translation horrible. :)

@Targor: I giggled at your "not a good way to learn how to write/speak english" I learned a huge part of English through Warcraft 3 and I learned Italian as well in WoW, to me this game gave a lot of communication skills and language skills ;)

@Grismm: Then let's delete German servers and all the others, because English is the obligatory language? Long live Britain and its rule over Earth... >.> I am not Italian myself and I play in the Italian server because it helps me learn Italian, also German because it helps me learn German, it is fun and useful. English? Okay....

I'd personally say DON'T create too many different language-servers... I mean that will kind remove one of many purposes in playing the game, namely the fact that there are many different nationalities playing and that you make friends not only with people in your country but around the whole world. Either way.. If Italians asked for this, I'm happy for you.

Why on earth are you guys asking for a Swedish/Nordic server? The reason for Spanish, Russian, Portugese servers are that these people are not that very good in English. However Nordic people are good in English. If you would be playing on a Nordic server, you would not benefit from learning and/or training your English.

But in one way it would be nice that you could join a Swedish/Nordic server, so the rest of us don't even have to hear or see your noobness.... :-)
