Good places to RP?
|
Greetings my fellow members of Darkmoon Faire, I have a question for you all. Where might I find some good places to RP? As I'm sure many of you understand I don't want to spend my time with the "RP-ers" in Goldshire. So where should I go instead? because I have no idea where to look. Any help here would be appreciated.
P.S. I started this thread because there didn't seem to be one like it although I could be wrong, I didn't look that hard, so if a thread like this already exists please let me know and I'll check it out. |

Alliance doesn't have an RP hub apart from Goldshire. Alliance RP is mostly a guild thing.

I'v heard good things about events in Scholomance on the Horde side. Not so sure about alliance however. Best bet is to find a nice RP guild who have regular events. The following link will direct you to the RP guild listings :)

Tynara is a bit outdated, Stormwind is getting increasing amounts of random RP these days, especially the tavern in Dwarven District. And you can always try to get the attention of known RPers (look out for guild tags) and that way maybe initiate an encounter that others will join as well.
RP is basically where you create it. During the past weeks I've RPd on the boat to Vashj'ir, and later on questing around there, I've RPd at our events and done the whole Worgen starter questline IC with my friend, RPing openly. So.. just keep your eyes open and maybe poke some eyes and you'll be golden! |

Weary adventurers need an ale now and then, Golden Keg is the place to be.

Now as my "sister" would say- Wheres theres ale, theres people- not always true I admit that, though since Deathwings uprising Anderhol in the plaguelands, despite being covered in undead and what not, it's quite nice and roomy, almost cozy, oh and lets not forget the wild life that has now sprung up in Desolace and the barrens. If theres life, there are a people bound to be doing the few favors for the "locals" in that area.

Don't let his shameless plugging of his own site fool you, wowgamer isn't as big or as all encompassing as they like to think, it holds a small community many of which belong to the various RP cliques on the server. Rp is cliquey on DMF, as far as I've seen and been told it's worse on the Alliance side as RP is mostly guild run, you'll get the occasional tavern rp going on in stormwind but that's about it. The Horde has enjoyed a small resurgence with cataclysm and goblins, as for the same with the Alliance and worgen I've not seen anything as such. Good luck, if you can find RP or get into a guild/clique you'll be able to amuse yourself for a couple of months at least. |

Agreeing with the corpse above, RP on Horde is highly clique-orientated, certain "groups" rp with other certain "groups" with little in between interaction. It's rather disapointing, because it creates artificial bubbles around people, that exclude new players.
And to join said cliques, one often needs to commit to a fair ammount of brown-nosing for a lot of them, which is quite frankly, shameful. Good luck anyway in trying to find RP, if you want to get RP, you will get it eventually. |

Aye, RP on DMF is a clique thing. There are a couple of rare exceptions though.
Some said one can find RP anywhere and it was even said that some RPers RP with a squirrel. I tried it but it called me a nab. The nerve! The darn rodent was power emoting itself! |

well, I would say the list of open RP events shows that a lot of Horde RP is not clique at all. The open rp events we throw are certainly for everyone! (well, except for gnomes... and dwarves... and draenei... and...) :-)
I'm sure there are folks that rp only in certain circles, and if they are happy with that, let them. Might not even be the sort of people you like rp-ing with. Poke the skulls for some non clique rp though! |

good places to RP? Well, as a loyal hordie, I can't much speak for the Alliance side of things, but I'll try to regail you the potential possibilities for you in the Horde.
Silvermoon (or how we call it here, Sillymoo) tends to have something happening if you walk around enough. Sometimes you can find more than just the trade chat spam and lolling in Orgrimmar, though that is a rarer find than seeking it in Silvermoon. Random RP is something you have to be lucky enough to land on. As Alterius and the above have already mentioned, RP can be rather cliquey at times, unless you know where to look for it. As your inside mongrel, I will give you a few specific spots you may be more likely to find something good cooking up. The Eburi Knights tend to hang out in the Silvermoon City Bazaar, around the fountain. They mostly deal in Argent RP of the soldier variety, but can generally be quite friendly if you approach them. The Dark League can be spotted in Undercity or Brill. These deaders are the Dark Lady's personal minions, and quite loyal to her, so if you approach them with a bad thing to say against their beloved queen of the damned, be careful. You may end up without a head at the end of your meeting. But as a group, I have seen them to interact with those outside their guild, and they tend to be incredibly fun to RP with. If you're searching for freebooters and relic hunters, you need look no further than the Swamp of Sorrows. The exact location I avoid revealing, as Zhinlan would have my head to give top secret information to those who may want to steal our treasure. But...look toward the shore, matey. <_< You didn't hear it from me! As far as I've heard, there is a new tavern opening up in Silverpine specifically for undeads, if that is to your taste. The Rotten Limb tavern. It looks pretty interesting, and is seemingly to be opened every Tuesday at 20:30 game time, though I'm not sure if it's open on more than just that one day a week. Contact Thornsen for details. Out in the heart of the Northern Barrens, there is the Broken Keel, which is open usually on Fridays at around 21:00 game time, but will also tend to be a hang out for some RPers on most days of the week. Just contact myself or anyone in Clan Bladewind (or is it the Bladewind Clan if you/re /whoing them...) and you'll most likely get the opportunity to RP with us up there. Just walk in and join the fun. Bumi and the Inconspicuous Inc have themselves a nice base in Bilgewater Harbor. Every Wednesday, a burger joint, run and hosted by this gang, opens up in the building with the sign of the big lobster and goblin waving out front. You may even catch them out there during the week, if you're lucky! Contact Bumi for details. Along with the Broken Keel, a treasure shoppe opens up on Friday at the same time. Three doors down from the Keel, you can enjoy shopping for real in game items, and some GHI stuff, if I recall. Truly worth the walk to see. Whisper or send Zhinlan an in game letter for details. There is a BK training thing that happens every Monday at around 21:00 game time. griefers and non RPers will be shot. Fair warning. However, while it's called BK training, it is not just for blood knights. All races and all classes are welcome, to come as students, or teachers, and join the fun. Located usually in Silvermoon City by the blood knight temple and ranger shooting range. Contact me or Kalthoren for details. Of course, you can always swing by and ask to be included in any of the many open RP events that happen. We'll be more than happy to invite you. Apart from that, when in doubt, go to an inn and seek RP out. |

Well...To be honest... I would say that if you are looking for some Random RP, then go to The ruins of Gilneas...Always fun to go there when your bored, but before you go, Check the who list to see if anyone's there :) ^^ Have fun!

Just because you're a Death Knight, doesnt mean you have to raise five month old threads from the dead. |

Yeah, it is. I was there just tonight. Lots of people walking instead of running. Don't know what they were saying cause I've practically all my channels switched off but I assume lots of RP stuff. There was even a horde DK in the inn and allies were standing around him. Might have been part of some RP thing but I killed him nonetheless :) |
