Tol Barad - The 'Hotfix'

Tol Barad Source: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/136974/cataclysm-hotfixes-updated-dec-27 To translate this for those whom might not fully grasp what this means: It is beneficial to lose when you're defending, for when you attack the next match (and the defenders aren't morons) you'll basically be given a free Bloodthirsty piece of choise. Just tossing it out there, y'know, eventhough I sincerely doubt it'll have any effect at all. Additionally; What design goal? What specifically are you guys thinking of doing? I'm all for playing like chumps and becoming "lax" on the defending, 1800 honor in one go is far too appealing to ignore.

Note; The hotfix either doesn't appear to have gone live yet, or they hot-hotfixed it, I'm not sure.

lets make some love between the horde and alliance here on DB.
i suggest that the defending faction just dont fight back to greatly increase the honor gain from every other tol barad game. If we could get this as a general rule across the server i think it would be awesome. (though it is important for the defending faction to still quee up to maximise the love) SPREAD THE WORD |
Sometimes, you really have to wonder what the developers are thinking. Obviously, this approach seems nice from an honor points POV, but from a gameplay/experience perspective, this scenario couldnt' be further away from what a zone like TB should be or what it is that should encourage people to go there. With this new "carrot" for the attackers, the outcome will most definitely be that which Sanaje suggests: encouraging the defenders to lose so that they can get their shot at attacking. And I seriously doubt that this possible consequence havn't struck the developers when discussing the change, and despite that, they proceed with it. Again, a zone which can be fun and challenging will be diminished to only be about currency farming and nothing about the actual experience itself. Yes, Tol Barad has its problems, and they need to be sorted. But as a person who really enjoys these large scaled battles and PvP environments, this "hotfix" is the worst imaginable and goes against everything that I believe makes PvP fun and rewarding. Let's just hope these future larger changes that they have in mind comes more sooner than later so that this ridiculous excuse for a "fix" can be removed. |

Urm, lets not? Anyway, imo they should reward whoever wins, attackers or defenders with the same amount of honour. To the losers go nowt and if you lose one TB, you should have less chance of being called up for the next one, as a sort of punishment. |

It does seem a bit strange.. tol'barad is on a three hour reset right?
That would mean.. that by winning 2x on horde, and 2x on alliance each day.. both sides would get honorcapped.. each.. day... Am I missing something, or is Blizzard really happy with everyone getting into honor gear asap so PvPers are "mostly" all on the same gearlevel? |

It's working tho, if you know Defending gives you only 180 and winning an attack gives you 1800.
The defender is going to be like ''meh'' And the Attacker is going to be like ''j00 guise les do it'' Or because we are on an RP realm it will go like this ''We must defend Tol Barad if it's our own Home! Charge!!'' But it doesn't make sense. Instead of Blizzard fixing the broke mechanic that makes winning almost impossible at peak times, they give the attackers like 50% honor cap, Rather give us more honor winning BG's, then this bull@%*#. Am I missing something, or is Blizzard really happy with everyone getting into honor gear asap so PvPers are "mostly" all on the same gearlevel? This can be true, because PvP is quite gear depended nowadays (Resillience), and if you want to do Arena and compete in it a good Rare set is required imo, but as I said rather give us more honor in BG's then this, because this makes no sense. |
Agreed, I prefer they up the income from winning and losing BG's than buffing Tol Barad like this.. where I already hardly ever seem to be able to get in the queue.. And that means an instant 4 hour wait if we were on the attacking side. |
