Easy way to balance rogue
|
Hi..here's an example:
new rogue ability Dashing Ambush: ~30 energy, 20-25 sec cooldown, 5-30 yd range. Run towards an enemy target at lighting speed and stun it for 1 sec, also remove all movement imparing effects. This ability shares the cooldown with Shadowstep. Shadowstep: 0 energy, 20 sec cooldown, 30 yd range. Causes you to step through the shadows and appear behind an enemy target also increases critical strike chance of your next backstab by 100% and your movement speed is increased by 70% for 5 sec. This ability shares the cooldown with Dashing Ambush. subtlety talent-- Find Weakness: Your Ambush, Garrote,Cheap Shot and Eviscreate abilities reveal a flaw in your target's defenses, causing all your attacks to bypass 50% of that enemy's armor for 15 sec. Backstab: increase damage done by 20-30%. Ambush: increase damage done by 20%. Glyph of Shadow Dance: No longer increases the duration of Shadow Dance by 2 sec, but now increases the chance to resist effects which cause loss of control of your character by 100% while under the effect of Shadow Dance. Also reduce the mutilate damage a bit, expecially passive damage and give more damage to abilities (envenom,mutilate) to compensate. Slice and Dice: 25 Energy, 100 yd range Finishing move that consumes combo points on any nearby target to increase energy regeneration rate by ~20%. Lasts longer per combo point... (20% or less, the point is the same dmg increase like old effect) Recuperate: Finishing move that consumes combo points on any nearby target to restore 2% of maximum health every 3 sec, each tick has a ~50% chance to remove 1 movement imparing effect. Lasts longer per combo point... yeah.. and fix vanish, it has been bugged sice the start of wow :D thx bb |

Just as an idea, since I'm not sure how I feel about it myself at this time, would you guys think giving Shadowstep a longer CD a good thing if it also broke snares? This would be a very big change for Sub PvP specifically, while also somewhat affecting PvE target switching too.
I actually like your idea of adding Eviscerate to the Find Weakness -talent. Simple buffs for Backstab and Ambush aren't too bad either, at level cap. While leveling though that is a different story. So it's not just as easy as you might think. I feel Shadow Dance could well last a bit longer, especially with the current health pools. We already have CloS and Vanish for protection. Giving some kind of snare breaking mechanic to every CD is just a bit redundant IMO. If the Dance lasted a bit longer and/or maybe reduced the cost of Openers that could be rather interesting. Your idea for SnD is interesting. Someone also suggested changing it from attack speed to haste, so it would affect energy regen straight from that. Any such change would have to be monitored quite strictly, because being energy capped makes you feel penalized. As an idea it is not a bad one though, but it might make the gap between specs even bigger. Sub for instance has a relatively low "passive" damage percentage while Assassination has a fairly large "passive" damage percentage. Changing SnD is tricky, no matter what you do. I don't think Recuperate needs that buff. Every tree already has some way to make it stronger via talents. I don't think this would be the best way to handle Rogue mobility issues, since it could very easily become quite OP. With Elusiveness the CD on CloS can be dropped to 1min. If the baseline CD of CloS was shorter it would naturally be a great boon for Sub, but all specs would benefit for it too. A change like this would require a change to talents, but it is maybe something to consider. I personally really liked the change to Sprint. It has made the ability a lot more useful and you don't feel you need to save it for something perfect since it'll be up relatively soon again. A similar change to Evasion might be in order. Lower CD, and maybe buff it's chance to avoid ranged attacks and spells while also cutting its duration would make it a lot more useful. Vanish is a lot more reliable than it used to be before Cata. Now it actually does what the tooltip says, more or less. Pets following you still bugs me a bit, but other than that I think it is a lot better. |

Dashing Ambush should be added to assa build but the CD must be higher
ShS should have a 40 yd range FW is fine BS must bypass enemy's armor like 10% or 20% Ambush damages need a little buff, 20% sounds good. Your idea for the ShD's glyph and Recuperate are too insane. |

A talent for subtlety rogues (not in the tree but as a baseline ability);
Envelopment; Successful Backstabs made to a target which is in control of their movement will have a 100% critical strike rate. It wont affect players who can't turn their character to counter it, but it will punish players who don't bother to. It makes having the positional requirement on backstab more bearable. Plus it should boost subtlety rogues in pvp and pve. |
