It is a real pain not being able to sent mailing to Guild members using in-game mail. I send a few mails and then it stops sending. I believe this is due to the cap on the mailing Outbox of characters.

Please can Blizz allow guilds to continue sending multiple mailings to Guild members. Communication within guilds is extremely important and it is very frustrating we are not allowed to send mailings.

Every time I get an in-game mailing from Blizz it compounds the frustration. Why do Blizz regard it as ok for it to send out mailings but effectively block Guilds from sending out to their members?

I totally understand stopping gold sellers sending out spam mailings but mailings between members of the same guild should not be an issue surely.

I'd like to second this. At Christmas I wasted to send each member of the guild a small present, and had to spend all night logging on every hour to send some more. Surely a GM should be exempted from this, or as the OP says, we can't use the mail as a way of keeping people informed.

Or how about a guild board like the warchiefs board, where GMs could write meesages, and members could write stuff to each other?

This has been mentioned lots of times, and still Blizzard does not seem to put any attention into it.

All vote the first post to highly rated, maybe that will draw attention.

The lack of direct; one to one communication has cause a marked decrease my ability to successfully manage my guild. One of the reasons that Dusk Ronin has been around for as long as it has, is the high level of communication that we've enjoyed. Now that Blizzard in their infinite wisdom have decided to terminate the ability to send out mass mails I can only say that this thoughtless actions has vastly degraded my guilds game play.

I understand you've been having trouble with Gold sellers Blizzard, but the way that you've gone about dealing with this issue is ludicrous, It's like someone having the need to have their toes nails trimmed and you've dealt with the situation by removing the entire leg.

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE THAT PAY YOUR WAGES.

Deal with the problem in an intelligent way and DON'T just sweep the issue under the carpet.

I would suggest that Guild Masters from whatever server, be they Horde or Alliance continue to raise this issue caused by Blizzard via trade chats on your relative servers. The more people complain about this issue, the more chance Blizzard will see the light and make the MINOR alterations that are needed.

FOCUS ON THIS POINT AND WE WILL WIN.

Can MOTD be made in such a way that it can be used as an active guildwide warning? Something like the raidwarning raidleaders can give? Or maybe it can be made in the same way guildachievements pop up? They always do a good job of giving me a heart attack when we get one because of the sound and bling, so it does get ones attention. I want that kind of tool as a GM to use. Not only will it make me feel mighty, but I will finally be able to get my point across!

A very good suggestion that shouldnt be too hard to implement either. Imagine logging on and if there is any fresh information from the GM and/or a certain officer be it raid leader, class leader or what ever, there will be a separate guild message pop-up flashing with a ping that you can click and read. It would be the first thing you check when you log on.

You could also have functions in it like a mailing list so certain specific info could be sent to the individuals and groups concerned as you see fit, "Raid team 1", "Officers" etc.

A simple tool like this would make administrative day to day guild business much easier and less time consuming to handle.

It's a shame to see no official Blizzard reply to this topic.

The absolutely forgotten post.

What does one have to do to get an official Blizzard reply?

Well we solved that problem more or less. One of my guildies wrote an add-on activated from our forum to allow for ingame mails rapidly. Off course we do have the limit of a few ingame messages per hour, but the add-on keeps track on which he did/ did not send yet and will continue as soon as it's able again. It can not, however, send attachments as I recall, hence the more or less part.

I know it's not a solution to all problems, but it's a step in the right direction if you ask me.

It seems the best way to deal with a topic is to bury it.

Shame Blizzard doesn't care enough for it's paying members to dignify us with an answer.

I share the exact same frustration as other guild leaders. I raised a ticket in-game and was told to raise it on the boards as a suggestion......

Seems like it'll do a fat lot of good as others before me have been ignored.

All we need is a simple in-game system that allows for a mail from the GM to be be sent to all members. If it's to your members it's NOT spam so don't cap it.

Fed up with not being able to let my guildies know stuff in a simple and EFFECTIVE way.

Calendar - useless if people aren't online to see it pop up, or even check it themselves
MOTD - whats the point as addons spam and run it out of sight
Info tabs - don't even go there

Sort it Blizz - please!!!

If you find yourself stuck and want to send a long message to all your members at once then do it through the calendar announcements. If you can't send it to everyone then send it to just the mains instead of all ranks.

These two ideas - Guild-wide Mail and a Guild Master message board would be fantastic.

A great idea for the guild message board would be to put it as an object near the guild banks and if there were unchecked messages, it could even have a "!".

Over a year or so since I last posted on here and still nothing has happened, nothing is going to happen and nothing will ever happen, because it's clear that we're not listened to.

Shame.

Apparently so. I had the same situation this christmas holiday (eventually got all the mails sent out but it took the better part of a full day to get it alld one), and that's added to the hassle of getting any kind of sensible package together due to the limitations blizzard has put both on what may be mailed as well as what may be packaged (albeit that bit is OT for this thread).

Should be possible for a per-guild setting whether to allow or disallow "mass" mailing for various reasons, so the larger purely social guilds where you risk flat out spam can disable it and guilds with more restrictions on who joins can allow it as the risk for spam would be minimal.

I would like to see some better communication system within the guild too.

First of all there's message of the day, but nothing like a message of the day for officers in a guild. Include a separate message of the for officers or people above a certain rank and it would help with communicating important information to them for them to receive it even if I am not online.

A guild bulletin board for people to post short messages on it such as "I am going to be on holiday for a week from such and such date". So that as a leader I know if members in the guild are away or whatever. An ability of flagging the message as "sticky" or "read" either to keep a message on the list for 30 days or deletes after 10 days. I would be a guild wide message system. I could also used by members to remind other members of something like "remember we were going to do that arena on such and such date" (a message with a specific date flagged in it, deletes the day after).

We got the dungeon guide, so why not a "guild guide" where you as leader can write up a description of the guild, a list of the guild rules, and the list of officers, plus a list of rules for the guild bank, all on 5-7 pages, and this tool to be viewed and is accessible from a button on the guild UI.

A mass mail function for the guild leader where he or she needs to mail guild. The best option is that it selects the main of each member of a guild (i.e. the rank or ranks that are "main ranks" for this purpose are set in the rank settings) and the guild leader can send to those ranks message that are "letters" or "letters with gold attached", but any mass mails with goods you can pre-select the 16 items in your bag to send, you set the mailing to "mass mail" and then in the popped up window select 16 guild members to mail, and the items you selected gets sent in a way of matching first attached item to first name selected, second one to the second person, etc. You can repeat until you've mailed to all people, and it flags people already mailed as people you cannot mail for one hour as a mass mail recipient (they are listed grey in the popped up window for selecting and this also then prevents sending something to someone twice). For gold mails, you put the gold amount (i.e. 5 gold) in the box then select "mass mail" option, and in the same popped up window you either can tick "Send to all", and this sends 5g gold to every person currently in the guild, or select 16 names at a time to send to. Letters are handled in the same way of "send to all", or you can select the rank or ranks to get the mail (i.e. all officers and class leaders) or all trialists for example with a reminder of what the rules are as a trialists.

A message of the day is what is says it is, but when you put an event on the calendar there should be a popped up window for a member of a guild to see this prominently on their screen not as some fast flashing by MTOD text in the guild chat. I am sure it is endless headache for guild leaders having to flash it up in guild chat with risk people still miss it. I even know of instances where guild members actually turn off guild chat (which I think is bad because it should be on by default if in a guild). Anyway the Calendar Alert of an upcoming event on the calendar within the next 12 hours is another thing to have with a "Read It" button and "View on Calendar" button. The "Read It" button puts on the calendar for an event who of the guild members read the event only (this list can be seen in the Event Report by a guild leader). And the "View on Calendar" then not only marks you read it but allows for signing up for said event. So it is a lot more visible way of making sure people know there's stuff on the in game calendar.
