cant save my work

hi guys i had a pc for x-mas and i cant save my work. it is a windows profesinal pc but when i writing thing on it i cant save. i note comes up saying i have to over rite a file. i dont get it guys can someone who is good with pcs and knows how to save please help me. thank

There's usually an icon that looks like a 3.5" floppy disk or a 'Save' command in the file menu, you should use that if it's an existing file. If you've never seen one look up 'floppy disk' on Wikipedia, it's got articles on historical artifacts.
The 'Save As' option in the file menu usually givs the message you've described. |

Say you've created a file called myfile.doc. You open that file and make your changes, then try to save it. You'll automatically be asked to confirm you want to overwrite the previous version of the file...if you're happy for that to happen then click ok (or "confirm" or whatever the button says) and it'll save.
