After struggling for long time with patching from 4.0.3a to 4.0.6 in two days..
And now again with the 4.0.6 to 4.0.6a..
Finally found a way to get around having to use the launcher.exe
So here you get a small how to, beginning from patching 4.0.3a to 4.0.6 and finally to 4.0.6a :)
126.96.36.19929 (4.0.3a) to 188.8.131.5296 (4.0.6):
To update from 184.108.40.20696 (4.0.6) to 220.127.116.1123 (4.0.6a)
Now start WOW normally..
This time it should only say "applying non-critical updates" and have the PLAY button enabled so you can play :)
Hope this works for you guys out there, like it did for me..

Keep in mind that I'm not a Blizzard supporter, but I'm willing to help everyone possible!!
Don't know if any of the Blizzard supporters actually know anything about how to fix both the download problem and the "Updater Connection Timeout" problems. But all I've seen is that they give you some useless answer like to try running Launcher.exe as administrator or boot into safe-mode or check your internet settings.
