China wont allow pandaren?
|
|
Ive been reading lots of forums discussing pandaren as future playable races, although i see it as unlikely myself, people are discussing how china wouldnt let blizzard to do it becuase of there laws against killing pandas. My point is, my country have laws about killing humans, so are they going to take those out of the playable race line-up?

It is because panda's are not allowed to be portrayed in this violent way even in such form, in your country there is no law against saying that you can't show a human being killed through cartoons.
It is doubtful they would rule them out as a possibility, with the forsaken and the likes of undead is also illegal to show in China, they have changed the undead models to look alive, and removed things like skulls, etc. from the Chinese version of the game. |

Oh, i didnt realize the law was that specific, thanks for clearing it up :) |

Old rumour, but I'm pretty sure that it is just a myth. WoWinsider investigated a year or two ago and came up with some other violent video games with panda characters that China didn't stonewall.

I think it's illegal to kill pandas because they're endangered... Also I doubt that it's true that this is the reason Pandarian's aren't playable.

Beyond what China thinks, I don't see WHY people want to play panda-people. I mean, really?

The real reason behind this cafuffle is that China were not happy with a piece of artwork that Blizzard made which showed a pandaren (Panda - Chinese) wearing samurai armour (Japanese) because its offensive.Because of this people who played the game and did not see pandaren were like "amagad china doesn't want pandarens in WoW" when I doubt they'd mind that much, they just don't want them becoming a stereotype of eastern culture.

It's commen bull*@%#, there is no law against playable, killable Panda's in a game, not even in China.
They however, where not amused that Blizzard put a Chinese Creature (Panda) in a Japanese Armor, these two countries have a history if ''dislike'' for eachother, and while the Japanese could live with the Pandaren that way, China didn't really approve of it. That said, there not really Panda's anyway, there walking martial-arts knowing Bearmen with a White/Black fur coloring. thats the only thing they have in commen with Panda's, tehre fur, but so do Tauren fur options. |
Another persistent rumor regarding their non-inclusion in the game is that there is a law in China prohibiting any depiction of violence against pandas, even anthropomorphic pandas, even in a video game. This rumor is, in fact, baseless. Not only does such a law not exist, but there is at least one Chinese MMO that does feature both PvP and a playable race of pandas. http://www.wowpedia.org/Pandaren |

I know right?, almost as daft as wanting to play as a stunted fat British woman. "I like my wimmin' like I like my beer. Stout and bitter!" |

What i wanna know is, why China believe their laws have any authority in other countries.
I love Wolves and would like to see a law against killing them, but that dosn't mean i have the right to demand that law in other countries. Oh and BTW if it is such a crime to picture Pandas in a violent manner. I guess the Movie, Kung-Fu Panda is a crime. It's about a Panda fighting others. Anyway, i really don't see the problem of adding them as a neutral race. They are independent, but it could be cool if we could get to see them as a neutral race. We could do Quests and all that stuff. That would add them to the game, and keep them out of any violent actions. They'll just be chilling and drink ale with the Dwarves :D |

What i wanna know is, why China believe their laws have any authority in other countries. Its not that the Chineese would start a war with the West because they have things they don't like (hell, the Chineese have banned movies which show time travel) its because China is the most populated country in the world.Blizzard have released WoW in China, and get a crap load of subscribers. However to maintain WoW being legally published in China Blizzard have to censor WoW heavily over there - bones must not be found in game (Forsaken have their bones fleshed out and skeletons are forsaken, along with many, many other changes involving the scourge.WotLK took a very very long time to censor and release in China as you can imagine). Still,I doubt China would mind Pandaren in WoW,aslong as they don't start of in samurai armour. |

Blizzard does not want to offend China, so they won't depict Pandas being killed. It's not that China thinks it's the boss (or does it!?) and is commanding Blizzard not to do so. If it's just a rumour / lie, who gives a damn?

Beyond what China thinks, I don't see WHY people want to play panda-people. I mean, really? Says the guy playing a corpse? :D It's funny how people still don't see the difference between broad and fat. And British and Scottish. I guess it can't be helped, everyone being brainwashed to think all girls need to be tiny. /@*@!youmtv |
