I use this method often:

/duel
/cast Fire Elemental Totem
/cast Earth Elemental totem
/cast Reincarnation
/cast Glower At Victorious Opponent
/cast Slink Away Muttering Imprecations Under Your Breath
/cast Shake Fist At Opponent From A Safe Distance

Best part about picking your set really carefully is though it kind of looks RP it actually has 2600 resilience. And since I don't take part in any faux RP-PvP events no one can really complain about me walking around with 6k weapon damage.

We'd see a huge surge in Mages for the Kirin Tor.

Why is this convo about Pvp gear?

Just being serious for one sec, if your character gets in a fight and there is a duel, why would you suddenly change gear? Even if you are in something crappy. Your the one getting in a fight out of your armor or what ever.

Do people really go to such lengths to not have their character lose a fight?

IF someone was getting into a fight PvP gear would definatly sneak it's way in there.
The only real RP way of fighting is the /roll system any other way and you just get loldodges coz people don't want to lose.

Emote fights, Im allways the one losing because I actually make my attacks and dodges viable.

My point here is the Roll system used to be used alot in WoW (on my old realm at least) the main reason people stopped using it is because there winning/losing was down to luck.
Truth is it's rare to find players who will actually lose an emote fight. My point is the only really "Alternative battle system" that is fair and viable is the old /roll system.

Why would it sneak in? Unless you're wearing it before the fight begins, I don't see why would anyone suddenly swap gear unless they're idiots.

People don't like losing fights..... It Sometimes happens in RP/PvP someone loses so they get there PvP gear and faceroll, it will also happen in duels.
