My first glimpse of the new MLP-FiM cartoon came from this video. It's okay, you can click it. Someone mashed together the Starcraft 2 trailer with scenes from MLP. It's very well done (the lip-syncing is pretty much spot on) and funny, so you can claim to be watching it from a comedic, technical or even ironical perspective. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJbAT1wzS8U See, not so bad. Hello. I'm a 16-years old guy that prefers My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to Pinky and the Brain. Sorry, but MLP: FiM is actually pretty darn funny to watch sometimes. Now, I'm not obsessed about it, but it's definetely a show worth checking out. Not all cartoons of today are idiotic and complete crap. I bet that in 20 years people will look at this the same way as you look at Pinky and the Brain because it is good. |

If you're on the WoW forums the odds are good that you are male, aged 18-35 and liking My Little Pony is confusing to you. Don't worry you are not alone. On youtube there's a button with a picture of a graph next to the number of hits the video has had. Clicking it reveals some demographics.
Every pony video I have checked is most popular amongst girls aged 13-17 and boys aged 18-35. The hive-mind that is the internet has dubbed us bronies, and we are everywhere. A quick word with the girls. I know there's a substantial amount of mild sexism so far in this post; I'm sure there are a lot of females in this age group who disliked the older MLP and find a liking for the new version as weird as us males do. Whilst the term "bro"ny may seem to be exclusively male this isn't the case. Everypony is welcome here and I'm sure if the guys can handle liking a cartoon designed to sell plastic ponies to small girls; the gals can handle an internet-lable with masculine overtones. Anyhow all the episodes can be found on youtube. The production crew are well aware of this, seem not to mind (the cartoon is after all made as an extended advert by Hasbro) and have even talked to bronies through their deviant art pages and 4chan about some fan-favourite background ponies. The most famous of these - Derpy Hooves - has had her appearence permanently changed due to comments made by bronies. As an aside, bronyism almost destroyed the cess-pit that is 4chan - flooding it with love and tolerance until posting ponies became a bannable offense and eventually leading to the creation of the ponychan web-site. There is a movement amongst some bronies in anonymous to convert all internet memes to include ponies. |

I was once a hate filled troll of a man. Then I watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, with its colorful equines who go on magical adventures, learning about the true meaning of friendship.
I am still full of hate. Fluttershy is number one, by the way. |

I watched it only because is was reading about it on knowyourmeme and i was wondering what the big fuzz about some ponies were...
Now i have watched the whole season in 2 days, and is thinking that MLP: FiM is an original, fun, educational (somehow), and cool cartoon that is way better than a lot of those cartoons and semi cartoons (tween shows and such that airs on cartoon channels) that airs today. It is also kind of a nostalgia trip for me since i grew up with shows like the super mario brothers super show, pinky and the brain, mightyducks and alot of other cartoons from the 90's. And i also think that every age and gender can watch it, not only small girls who buy the toys. It have evolved into the internet culture really fast and may be considered canon some day.
