Question about RAM
|
Hi there, I'm trying to buy a new computer and I found a website that sells good priced PC's that I can self customize but I have a question. I know what RAM is for and I understand its importance, but I was wondering will having an 8GB RAM be a big increase over a 4GB RAM? If I get a 4GB RAM on my computer will it last me a while or will I have to get more powerful RAM soon? Because the computer I'm speccing has the choices of 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM. And since RAM is pretty cheap compared to the other options, I was thinking why not? But would it be worth it in respect to price and performance in the coming years?

4GB of RAM is the most you can upgrade to with a noticeable difference. Anything over 4GB will make a difference however the most any given program generally uses is about 3GB To be honist if it's like a £20 Price Difference go for it, but it's not worth paying alot extra as the difference is minor, (saying that it will make your PC ready for future when programs use more RAM)
