I wonder what you guys thing of the Harry Potter books by J.K Rowling?
I absolutely adore them and I've read them all a several times. The thing I love so much about the books is that I grew up with them. I started to read them in 2001 (when the first movie was released) at the age of 11 so I grew up with the books. And I like it that the books grew up to. The first book is a children's book and the last book is a lot more grown up. What I liked the most about the series, beside the actual story, was that Rowling hinted a lot of the plot in the previous books. The internet was full of theories what a certain thing might mean or what metaphors were used or how it was going to end. I have spend hours reading Harry Potter related stuff on the internet and I've wrote some myself... |

I love them! I was 25 when I first noticed them. I saw young children queuing for Goblet of Fire when it came out and I wanted to see what kind of book could get children reading so avidly. I got the first 4 books for my 25th birthday and read them in a couple of days. Then I read them again. I loved them all! I too habe read them many, many times and I also love how the books grow up.
I was an avid bookworm as a child (and still am really) and these books were the kind of thing I would have adored as a child. Even now I will regularly re-read them! I got the last book as the special edition. Very daft for a grown woman really! |

I quite liked them when i first started to read them but after a while you notice that the story is the same in every book,Voldemort hatches a plan,Harry has premontion about this,no one belives him that Voldemort is back again, except for Ron & Hermione, these 3 prove everyone wrong & defeat the bad guy yet again & they all live happily till the next book

Last books I read and finished were the Harry Potter ones, absolutely outstanding. I've failed to come across anything as amazing as them. Everything else bores me, so I haven't read a book since.

Watch the movies since I'm 7, Read the books since I'm 8, play the games since I'm 10 (I recently finished part 3 again in a weekend, those games are just too easy, but quite fun? I dunno. Internet was down xD). Now I'm 16 and I'm counting the days until part 7.2 comes out!!! 8 more days ^^

They are enjoyable and somewhat well-written, however they lose their charm after reading them once(in my opinion). The first three/four books were also quite boring, in my opinion.

I have to say the Audio books are the best thing about Harry Potter, Stephen Fry adds so much to them.

They are the best. The movies are bad, don't even get me started about the 4th movie.
I've read all the books over 10 times and I usually read all the books 3-4 times per year. (I also love my school now, we had a Harry Potter quiz and I won it with 100% correct answers.) <3 |

I love the Harry Potter books, and as some of you, I grew up with them too.
When I started reading them I was like 7 (?), and now I just turned 16. I have also reread the books so many times, so some are a bit ruined. Though I like the movies, I don't think they are as good as the books. They have left out so many parts, which I think is a pity. And damn, how I like Snape! He's so funny (especially in the movies), and I almost start crying everytime I read the part about Harry in Dumbledore's pensieve, experiencing Snape's memory's. I haven't seen the final movie yet, but I guess I'm going to cry when I see it |

I love Harry Potter, though I tend to prefer writing on roleplaying sites that are set in a much darker, and much more adult setting than the books. The wonderful thing about Harry Potter is that there is so much room for customised work in Rowling's world. Some of the most fun I've had writing has been writing in a more adult version of the wizarding world, it's great.
Since roleplaying with a friend's frankly outstanding take on Voldemort, I can no longer read the books without thinking the original Voldemort is inferior. =/ |
