!!! UPD2012-03-23* Now on a side note. It is now small and medium indications and rumours that Telia swedish internet provider is about to release a 2nd type of Smart Modem that users are able to choose from. however indications point that it will not happen this year since the Law / Policy that they currently have needs to be changed. ( however no confirmed information nor any confirmation that is solid that this is gonna happen it was simply a slip of the tung by the press cheif of Telia in a bloggers post. so its just a rumour. link to the aktual response is http://www.fairshopping.se/opinions/view/12251 look little bit below the post. ) for ppl who is cautios about links here is the post reply by telia. The firmware update have not showed any progress or its being kept tightly locked down. ive gotten no word from anyone regarding update on time or how far its progressed. sry guys ---------- Hello there everyone hope u had a good new year and a happy christmas.Now onto the updates. Old update notes* below There is a new firmware in Testin phase! ( personally confirmed with thomson and telia ) I have been in contact with Technicolor ( thomson ) however their pace of action is slow i get about 1 mail a month. i know everyone here wants to see this issue resolved but im afraid that it might be a while longer before that happens. i personally is rather bummed out and i even have gone extreme lengths as a customer to provide information to Thomson the manufacturer and ofc Telia. only thing i have been told is that there is a Firmware that are in internal testing that might fix this issue but due to a policy in user management they do not want to send that firmware out. ( it gives the user full acess wich they dont want for a odd reason ) i have been told that they wish to monitor the routers and identify what it is that goes wrong. but i have not heard a word since. i have sent 3 new mails askign for verification and see if i can get them to lift their fingers once again. i would belive they simply forgot that this issue exists or they no longer think of it as a priority at this time. they are shipping a new router version out very soon wich has diffrent design and firmware. might be the place they put all their focus on at this time i dont know. anyways short story hang in there and i will see if i can bring some good news to you all in 8 weeks. Holy out!If u reading this and you have issues connecting to World of Warcraft or various other games and software ( steam, mirc, Tales of W , xbox, ) This issue usually causes the inability and impossible task of playing those games or useing the programs. Problem has been found in firmware of the router provided to you by ur isp ( mostly telia and some finnish one wich name i cannot even type ) the firmware makes the router to force connect to a gateway wich simply does not respond well with world of warcraft and other various programs and games. <--- this is the easy explanation and is incorrect in many ways but it would take me years to explain it all. look at bottom if u wanna see a disclaimer here ;) There is a easy way to see if u are suffering from this issue. Windows 7 <--- look here step 1 press start button on ur windows. step 2 press ur computer step 3 press network wait for it to load all. step 4 right click the router Thomson and press SHow this device Site. step 5 in middle of the start screen find Internet and click it. step 6 top right on ur screen press details step 7 Find the line Standard Gateway Write that number down includeing the dots. on a paper infront of u step 8 go to ur skriv bord or desktop i think it is in english make a new link or genväg on swedish type the words below in the first fieald. cmd.exe then press ok twice to complete. step 9 right click the new link u made "cmd" should be the name and press run as administrator. step 10 in the dos window type Tracert www.google.se or type the Ip that u have to ur wow realm ( eaither will work fine ) to get the IP adress of ur wow realm please refer to blizzards official support thread! the tracert will not complete as u see it will stop at the 2nd lines something like this i made the 2nd line bolded so u see it clearly. 1 11 ms 99 ms 99 ms 2 7 ms * * * [81.xxx.xxx.xxx.] see that at the end of the 2nd line there is a bracket [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] <--- like this and a ip adress inside it. compare this number and the number u wrote on ur paper infront of u ( step 7 ). if they match u have another issue. IF they do not match then u have the issue of the firmware wich makes world of warcraft not work. sadly there is a fix for this problem but IF u are a customer of telia and the finnish isp. then u cannot fix this legally. in the contract if im not mistaken u are not allowed to tamper with the firmware inside it. and have to wait for telia and the finnish isp to fix it themselfs. hope this is of usefull information to all of you outside frustrated. *please note this is the !EASY! explanation to the many many many over 22 issues with this router. if u are not suffering from this issue it can be one of the many others there are* If u are suffering from this issue though and wanna play wow just dissconnect the thomson router and connect a normal zyxels silver modem and ur good to go guys. * please do not turn to me in pm or whispers how to fix this issue since it can be considered ilegal in sweden where i live and i dont wanna get busted! thank you for ur understanding and no im not being mean in not telling. its just that im not affiliated with blizzard nor telia nor finnish isp so im not qualified to help u tamper with the machines u borrow even if i know how! sad reality of the world we have today * |

i intend to post the top 5 issues with this router on the forums if im allowed in this post to make it easier to see wich issue is affecting ppl the most! and hopefully this will take some weaight from blizzards shoulders!¨ i will add pictures too once i find a reliable picture site to uppload to if anyone has a good one that blizzard approves off let me know! |

Hi guys i been away but due to the Anual pass blizzard released i couldent help myself to sign up ;) sucker for tyrel stuff :)
anyways small update on the front here and im willing to answer some questions if you have. please note im not always here on the forum but i asnwer when i can. The solution for the TG789vn is not a simple one im afraid. the router is faulty in its internal software and hardware. only way to get rid of it is with a new modem such as zyxel tripple play silver or an Vdsl+2 modem zyxel or of similair caliber. the fix for the TG789vn is still in the test loop as i have been able to confirm with thomson but the solution is far far away :( now for those of you who have IP telephone this solution might not work please do note that since the zyxel silver tripple play dont support IP phone usage. however there is still hope for you guys i will be posting some things here that might help when i have some free time. and as always please do note im not affiliated with blizzard nor Telia or anyone else im a person just like urselfs just i have some knowledge in these things ;) have a good night and im of to bed :) stay tuned for some posts. ( marked for future post please dont ban me for spamming! ) the top most affected services seems to be steam and blizzard and some korean games and 6 company programs and itunes |

Thanks for the post, I haven't tried this yet, but I was wondering if anyone has better instructions on this (no offence), including server IP lists etc.

there is no server ip lists im afraid u have to use the blizzard support to get ur realm ip number or the www.google.se eaither of them works fine. as for better instructions what do u mean ? will always try my best to explain this as simple as possible so if anything is unclear let me know and i will explain further. |

Ok. So now that everyone knows what the problem is, including blizzard and hopefully the ISPs, will there be a fix? I have had SO much problem with Telia in the days, I really hope I don't have to talk to them about this. And also, would I have right in demanding another modem? I mean, they supply me with a modem that doesn't work, I pay them and blizzard money for a game I can't enjoy because of the modem. Just asking :)

You could try call and ask Telia, however there is no guarantee that you'll get an answer that will suit you. |

Ok, I officially have the issue. I'm not a telia client, I'm from portugal... is there any way to fix this?

While I appreciate this information, it would be more useful to provide the solution as well for "educational" purposes, and let the people themselves decide if they want to use it or not.
It's the same as Bitorrent sites, just having the information "out there" doesn't make it illegal. |

Got the same problem, all started with Thomson TG789vn..
Please blizzard, contact Thomson and try to find a solution, or work arround it yourself |
It does not fix all problems but certainly helps! Does it fix loadingscreens getting stuck at 0% and 90%? Kinda tired of having to alt+f4 and lose arenas or keep 24 people to wait for me X times a raid. |

no it does not help the loading screens only the dissconnects

the loadin screen bugg is there even after the patch yes but its less frequent as far as i can see
it used to be 10 of 10 that u had to close program and relog to get in. now its 5 of 10 o.o |

It has always been like 3 out of 10 loading screens for me. And the guy from Telias support I talked to had no idea about these problems or any updates or patches for the router.
I've got bad luck with RNG so I never manage to catch the good support :P |
