New feature in 4.3: Cross-realm keyring, all keys now carry over between realms. Due to the incredible technological feat, certain elements of the cross-realm keyring system will be premium-based, though you only need to pay us extra money to actually use the keys that are stored in your key ring.

Very true (will try to be less cons...condes...appear less superior in my writing as well, sorry :/). Anyway, I'm not saying feelings don't matter here, they do. And I'm not against the keychain either or whatever. It's not like the keychain is my sworn nemesis :P But when Blizzard comes out and says "Hey, this space the keychain takes up is space we would really like to use for other things, and since we've already phased out the keys a bit before, and since the keychain takes up storage space, and so on, we would like to remove it completly". Then I'm cool with that. They have good reasons for doing what they want to do, and their intentions are good as well. Do I feel a little affection for the keys I have? Absolutly. I have all the keys I can have, and have always sought to collect as many different keys as possible. So I get the notion of loving to collect keys. But at the same time, my affection for my keys and my keychain just doesn't outweight Blizzard's reasoning here. There isn't enough meat on the keychain and the keys (so to speak :P) to feel a huge amount of affection for them. A little, sure, but not a lot. So my only point here is that affection alone is not a strong enough point as to why they shouldn't remove the keychain. I mean, if you really feel that they should keep the keychain in the game, then you gotta have more arguments than the "because I like it". That can be used for anything in the game. And if that trumped logic and reason by default, then Blizzard could never make any changes to the game. And that's not fair. |

Removing the keyring?? why? I quite liked the fact that keys were stored in their own individual space, and if they are to be removed, will areas like Karazhan be openable without a key? which I admit would be quite handy and useful for those people making groups for instances like this. But as I'm a blacksmith and tend to make skeleton keys from time to time...what will happen to those?
So...overall this change may be good or it may be bad, we'll just have to see what happens. |
hopefully removed as that system is outdated. |

Does this mean that I'll get a feat of strength for having the key to Searing Gorge when the keyring is finally removed? :o)

I'll repeat what's been already mentioned a few times - make keys learnable spells, like pets and mounts.

Get bigger bags. 18 or 20 slot ones cost barely anything. Also why does everyone forget that this also frees up memory that is being wasted on a pointless little slot, as well as the UI space. Which the OP explicitly stated. |

This is maddnes!
DO NOT TOUCH MY KEYS! blizzard failed once again |
|
Well your current suggestion is not thought through. This is what you could do:
Keep keyring and leave things the way they are. Make the changes your doing now but make all bags 50 slot. (loosing bag space is not an option) Remove all keys from the game and all things that require keys. any1 else with more suggestions :). |
Sure with your logic mounts and pets could still be like keys are becoming. UI space is the 0.2cm and memory? oh boy. |

People have called out for vanity item space to safe up bagspace, because it's such a large amount when you really want to keep the goodies.
People who have played for at least two expansions will have fond memories in items that they used, crafted or otherwise obtained from a truly epic battle. Fond memories that - granted - do take bagspace. Bagsize has always been very tightly scaling with the amount of items a person has. Usually it's just not enough. My bags keep bulging on every side on all my characters. To think that my keys which I have been collecting ever since vanilla will now start taking in bagspace... I wonder if I was delirious from smoking somewhere weird when I read it. Thing is, I don't smoke and I didn't take anything likewise. It's always disappointing to hear that Blizzard doesn't listen to its customers - with all due respect and referring to the vanity item bagspace - which makes this a second occasion in one week where I have to start questioning the companies credibility. http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/about/mission.html Does it hold any value to the company at all? |

Hold on now yo, whats going to happen to keys like the ones to unlock TBC heroic? (not like i ever visit them, but you never know when i need to for guild achiebs or whatevs) Cant have a !!*#load of keys in my bags and bankslots that are already stuffed with vanity junk.

According the blue, keys that are still needed (TBC heroics, karazhan, malygos, Algalon for instance) will be stored in your regular bags. Why wouldn't you enjoy a feature makin' everyones gameplay experience better.

This news makes me sad.
First at all, old "Keymaster" achievement was removed, when Shattering come to Azeroth. I spend so much time to get all these keys (for example, key to Karazhan). After Shattering "Keymaster" wasn't even a FoS achiev. Now half of my keys was deleted... And now this... It's a shame, because now I see, that was wasting of my time. Why should I bother key to Kara (BC content), when I came in WotLK times? Only for achie, that today don't exist, even like FoS... |

This is great, my Keyring was making UI fiddling a bit of a pain.
Finally gives me a reason to get rid of all those BS keys I had, and make sure I do some cleaning up in my bank with all the tat I never use anyway. |
