Usually named by the people who played it first.

TSG = "teh supeh gosus" named after the first team to run it successful, it's Warrior/DK/Paladin.

KFC = dunno where the name comes from but its Arms War/Hunter/healer, not to be confused with ATC (from WotLK) which was Prot Warr/Hunter/Healer.

Spellcleave is exactly as it says, 2 DPS casters/Healer

KFC was made up by a hunter in Arena Junkies whose name I can't recall now.

KFC stands for Kung Fu Cleave...

It was made to troll casters.

Since people usually use the term "cleave" in a derogatory way, so all the people who though they were suddenly very skilled playing spellcleave, found it insulting.

-Shatter Cleave (or shadow shatter) - Mage/ Shadow Priest/ Healer

Just one thing it's called "Shatterplay" and refers only to Mage/SP/Resto Shaman

Cleave originally meant double melee + healer teams afaik.

Then it got adapted for practically any comp with two classes similiar in working (spellcleave, wizardcleave, dispell cleave).

Then it was used for practically everything.

If I recall correctly the first cleave was Ret Pala/ Warrior/ Resto Shaman in TBC, but I'm not sure.

Probably, but the Mage was right.

It did generally mean just melee cleave (melee/melee/healer) the most popular in TBC being War/Rogue/Druid.

Now it just generally means 2 DPS of the same type (2melee or 2caster)
