If you want to know how far the RPG books are off read the section on Northrend, its amusing. Sholazar basin has been left out, and there is a foot note at the end of the Zul Drak section that mentions that they are still waiting for Blizz to get back to them to clarify something.

Still shame if they don't count, Undermine would have been a interesting city. (For those with out access to the books, Undermine is the goblins' underground capital city on the home island)

"Is Elune a Naaru"

Good question

I always thought Elune was a Naaru as well.

Undermine is cannon btw, it is mentioned in WoW, so it is probably still around, we just cannot go there yet.

Seems like Blizzard want night elves to be descendants of trolls.

To all elves, how does it feel that you once were the best race of Azeroth?

I think people read this and then suddenly their mind goes elsewhere, out of shock. First there's the odd question of 'are the canon?' when everybody 'knew' they were, and then there's the shocking answer of 'no'. And while the reader's eyes might be following the words on the screen their mind is examining the repercussions.

This is what they tend to miss out.

Blizzard helped generate a great deal of the content within the RPG books, so there will be times when ideas from the RPG will make their way into the game and official lore, but you are much better off considering the RPG books non-canonical unless otherwise stated.

Why has this been un-pinned? Seriously, this was only given a sticky recently and that was because it was such a pain to go through the pages every time to find thing to refer to the information therein.

Ask CDev answers part 1 is still up there.

There isn't even a thread with links to threads such as this, at least not that I'm aware of. Are there a limited number of pins CMs can allocate at any given time?

Whether they're the most boring is debatable. As one of only 2 alien races in the world they're possibly the most esoteric. Humans inhabit almost every fantasy story imaginable and are not at all mysterious as they're always based on a real species.

There are vague details behind them, like how they formed the tribes of Arathor after they decended from Vry'kul. But those aren't mysteries, it's just vague.

Humans are the best race. The youngest of races, and still with better technology, military, magicians and cities than the trolls. All thanks to their awesomeness at diplomacy and gathering cool allies!

No. If their 'diplomacy' is what got them their tech, which it is, then it's not something they can take cradit for.

I even think their 'diplomacy' is a bit of a questionable choice on behalf of blizzard. I've been replaying TFT, lately, so certain things are still fresh in my mind, such as Garithos and Admiral Proudmoore's unwillingness to listen to his own daughter when she wanted to explain why Theramoore was allied with the Horde. The only 2 humans I can think of who put diplomacy before their grudges are Anduin Wrynn and Jaina Proudmoore. And anduin's diplomatic prowess are fairly new and weren't present when it was added as a racial ability.

Then there's the way that the humans, until Warcraft II, had multiple nations on the eastern continents and none of them stood together until the orcs came along; they simply hated one another. And that didn't really change; after the third war there were only really 3 human civilisations left, Stormwind, Gilneas and Dalaran. And dalaran had closed its borders after being crushed first by the Scourge and then overrun by the Burning Legion. And then floated away.

And now Gilneas, as a kingdom, is pretty much gone, too.

So the humans inability to reconcile their differences with other humans was eventually brought to an end by the fact all but 1 humans kingdom has been mostly wiped out.

So, when WoW was being developed they must have been scratching their heads, trying to think of things to give humans for their racials, and then they were like 'umm... err... make them all diplomats' and then everybody thought this was a great idea and just as somebody started coding it in somebody else was like 'wait, what about all the human racists and warmongers?' and metzen was like 'You're fired. Clear out your desk'

Q: How did Sinestra survive the events of Night of the Dragon?

A: For all intents and purposes, she didn't; when players encounter Sinestra in the Bastion of Twilight raid, she is a husk of her former self, pieced together and reanimated by the powers of Deathwing's Old God master.

Well well, guess I can only wait for him to appear then?
