STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG - Plan of Action Background Information Summary Guild Resources and Goals Naga Evaluation Raiding and PvP Raiding Plan Management and Organisation Development of the Guild Appendixes 1.0 Background Information Water is life. It has become a rare commodity here in Outland. A commodity that we alone shall control. We are the Highborne, and the time has come at last for us to retake our rightful place in the world! - Lady Vashj. Over the past 4 months we've been in an intellectual and visionary hibernation. We've fought an endless battle against slack, pve specs, inattention and worsening morale. Our current guild morale is at a historical low since our guild creation and defeat of Nefarion Horde first. There seems to be a prevailing wide spreading idea of administration among the leadership rather than visionary leadership. With this Plan of Action (Business plan if you rather want to work in business terms) we aim to address these issues and suggest a plan of action aimed at improving and developing the guild. As with our previous Plans of Actions we intend to set goals for STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild both in terms of player preparation as well as in actual guild goals. This Plan will go a bit further in terms of an actual member evaluation that can be found on our Officer forum: Member Management. Due to the public nature of this document no sensitive information will be publicized. Each paragraph will be introduced with a quote from leaders across the world. Further the reason this document has been made public is based on an idea of an open and transparent leadership - where governing principles are laid out to public scrutinization giving members a chance to voice opinion on what is pervasive in their daily gaming experience. In STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild we acknowledge the fact that the success of our guild and the way the guild treats its members greatly affect the gaming experience of everyone involved. We want our Nagas to be able to influence the structure they find themselves in. 2.0 Summary Alana be'lendor! - Fathom-lord Karathress Fathom-lord Karathress basically tells us, that those who continue to keep an open mind and continue to WILL progression and learning are the same people which will survive and conquer, while those who believe they know what's going on and have a predetermined pre-understanding of a changing environment, gets lazy and stuck in an obsolete paradigm/understanding/attitude. The immediate conclusion is that to survive you need a certain element of entrepreneurship and wit. We've built our guild on exactly those two terms and while we may have lost some of that during our period of farming content we remain determined to bring this back to the guild and consequently members possessing these traits are those that also will survive a radically changing guild and game environment. The most important aspect to take with you from this Plan of Action is ideas of what will become our focus over the next few weeks time - both in terms of Naga motivation as well as member solidarity. In Summary: We are the Number one guild on this server We aim to devastate any and all challengers We seek to improve our profile across servers We built upon our Spirit of Entrepreneurship We acknowledge our Server Social Responsibility (SSR) We are a guild of Nagas, lead by Nagas for Nagas |

3.0 Guild Resources and Goals
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha! - Warlord Kalithresh. STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG was created to allow members to: 1) Play with the Best 2) Be the Best. That was the slogan Propheci and I agreed upon when we created STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild and it is still the underlying principle guiding us towards the future. There's been some unfortunate realities that prevented us from fully appreciating this principle. The first and foremost was the ridiculous difficulty in recruiting capable players due to extreme demands to Instance attunements (Mount Hyjal and Black Temple). These attunement demands seems to now be a thing of the past which will allow us to fully appreciate our guiding principle. We have over the past months gone through a careful evaluation of members and outsiders; that we have not yet initiated plans to recruit. That Blizzard has now given us free hands to improve on our guild resources - which basically comes down to the quality of our members - should see us initiate some radical evaluation programmes over the coming weeks. We define Guild Resources not only in terms of organizational strength, but also in terms of skilled, educated and resourceful members. Our greatest strength lies not only in our gear level, but in the actual Know-How of our members. The good member thus prowls elitistjerks.com, shadowpriest.com, and other heavy theorycrafting homepages that seek to enlighten the class understanding - but does so with an analytical mind based in elementary math in order to test others and own understanding not with superstition and unfounded assumptions but in actual observations and WWS stats. Only through this will we continue to live up to our principal goal of Playing with the Best and being the Best. Reality will not always give us the ability to kill a Raid boss as the first on our server or world/region first. But that is not our principal goal. We will do whatever it takes to move within a reasonable timeframe in terms of resources spent killing a raid boss or what other weekly/monthly goal we set us, while continuing to observe the fact that we are a guild that recognizes the need for a healthy respect for real life commitments of not only our leaders but also our regular members. We do not see ourselves as failing if another guild kills a boss first if what they really won was a Pyrrhus victory. We deliver solutions and style, not brute force and excessive playtime. As such, we do not seek to please anyone but ourselves. As your NAGAMASTA the leadership is not trying to appease the entire guild, rather we do what it takes to create a maximum of guild cohesion, togetherness, effectiveness and success. We do this without regard to personal friendships or homeboy cliches and factions. Our goal is to continuously consolidate the fact that we are the best guild to be in; the guild with the most wanted membership and with the highest game-play quality free from stress over #%!!#!#@* players and random mistakes being committed repeatedly. |

4.0 Naga Evaluation
Bal, lamer zhita! - High Warlord Naj’entus. We realize that not everyone has developed the personal charisma, insight or skill to lead our guild, nor would that be desired. Nevertheless High Warlord Naj’entus’s statement above helps to illuminate the fact that while you may not have the personal ambition to become a leader you must nonetheless possess enough self-government as in order to act loyally towards leadership decisions, guild goals, attitude towards raids and walk that mile to maximize your performance and thereby reduce the stress and workload of the leadership. As a consequence of the increased competition for membership of STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild and the ease with which we can recruit and assimilate new Nagas into the guild has allowed us to tightening the demands we have of our Nagas As effective from now on, we are introducing new criteria’s for membership of STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild. These criteria’s are in no way ordered in terms of importance. Failing one means you fail your Nagaship of STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild. Entrepreneurship. We demand from our members that they are self-educated and understand ALL aspects of their class fully. It does matter if you are only a healer and don't care about the dps aspects of your class. It does matter if you are just a pve healer and don't care about PvP. Elements of all sides of your class always spill-over to affect your performance. This understand will let you buy items cleverly instead of infringing on items that would be much better used by other classes - in other words you must be able to fully understand itemization for your class, how to best use your class in any and all situations as well as understanding the limitations of your class. Maximizes Performance. You can never slack. We will no longer tolerate attempts at cheating or slacking when consumables are called for or when PvE specs are required. You must be able to judge how you can at best utilize your performance in any and all situations - farming as progressing. We do not want anyone to be able to point a finger at your performance due to slack. Your dps must always be the best possible, you cannot slack on healing, your tanking can never be wanting. Observant. You must know what goes on around you. You must not take unnecessary risks that would place the raid in jeopardy. You must be able to predict any situation and act accordingly. You must position yourself cleverly and optimally. You must be able to react to changing raid environment and predict when they will happen (Blizzards splitting up raids). You must never put yourself in a situation where you are inaccessible to the raid. Discipline. We demand that our Nagas possess an iron discipline. You must come prepared; you must be on time or give due notice; you must be present and follow rules to the letter and beyond. You must give the raid a fair effort. We do not tolerate an attitude of coming unprepared or wrongly specced. We do not tolerate excessive AFKness. We do not accept that others must work harder to make up for your slack. Cover the Back. We expect our Nagas to cover each other's back. If someone is assigned to a specific task we expect others of that class or with similar abilities to by own initiative to back up. Got a resist on Earth Shock? A mage or other Shaman is automatically backing up and helping on interruption. This is strongly associated with our 6th requirement. Initiative. We require our Nagas to possess self-initiative. Seeing someone die? Step up and take his/her place AND announce that you do it. See something going on on progression raids that you can help against? Do it. Initiative cannot be exhaustively defined but it's still measurable. All Nagas in the guild will over a period of the coming weeks be evaluated in accordance to these criterias. |

5.0 Raiding and PvP
Our matron will be... the end of you. - Hydromancer Thespia. We will spend the coming weeks to encourage a better understanding of the synergy between Raiding and PvPing. Our understanding is simply that there's an element of team-work, reaction, class-understanding and certain bond between PvPers that you won't gain by raiding. PvP also creates a competition all on its own that encourages excellence and increased awareness of the environment around you. While PvP in WoW in many ways are automated and auto-countered there are still a powerful psychological elemental and patience that will win you matches and that will further increase your PvE raiding skill. As such we deeply and heartily suggest that everyone begins serious PvP. Not everyone may have the option of devoting enough time to break 2k rating within a few weeks - but your rating is not paramount to what we seek to achieve. Yet, rating is a relative evaluation in regards to you and your team's level of skill and naturally takes part in our evaluation of your membership. At the same time we reserve the rights to acknowledge and reward those members of our guild that performs well in PvP. This will be done through free gems, enchants and crafted gear that comes with exceptional skill - but not only skill - also the will to help others in the guild improve their performance are things that will be favourably noticed. In conclusion we will work towards improving the completeness of our guild and greatly encourage everyone to not ignore aspects of the game but willingly and through own initiative find ways that help to improve our guild. 6.0 Raiding Plan As we know, There are known known’s. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say We know there are some things We do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, The ones we don't know We don't know. - Donald Rumsfeld. We will not thoughtlessly submit to mediocrities and continue to farm mindlessly. We are a frontier guild, we attack the unknown with zeal and we take the hits fighting the unknown will give us. Our raiding plan will stand unchanged on Thursdays, Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays. As always we focus on progression, conquest and defeating opposition. The weekly raiding plan will continue to be updated through the raid schedule. We will plan for PTR activity - with anywhere from 1-2 raid days being on PTR. This raids will reward attendance on a higher scale and counts towards the LIVE attendance of Sunwell Plateau DKP. Once 2.4 hits live we will cease all other activities until no more bosses in Sunwell remains left alive/accessible. |

7.0 Management and Organisation
I ran out of pissing quotes here, where does Tanj find these people. - Hyzen. There's a saying that: "Too many cooks spoil the broth". As we are going to reconstitute the premises of guild membership of STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild in order to make us more effective so will we also reconstitute the guild leadership. Currently we are too many *#**%lord’s compared to what is needed to run the guild. Through this reconstitution we aim to reduce the number of minds and hands making decisions in order to streamline guild policies and ensure their correct management - but also to be able to make it more clear to everyone who is responsible for certain areas of responsibility and who has expert knowledge on those areas. We will thus abolish the class *#**%lord role as we expect our Nagas to perform as their own class *#**%lord’s - and the role is unneeded since the ease with which we can compare Nagas to Nagas and other guilds' Nagas is very easy. The class evaluation thus becomes the responsibility of the Naga Relations *#**%lord (NR *#**%lord if you like). We will run with a leadership constituted like this: 2 Naga Relation *#**%lords (NR); responsible for recruitment, member evaluation, member reports, member relations (conflict solutions, etc). These are Trixor and Ratt 1 Loot *#**%lord; responsible for loyal updates of current DKP systems and tracking raids and loot, as well as member DKP concerns. This would be Vashnak 2 NAGAMASTAS; overall responsible for raids, guild relations, administration of guild rules and policies. These are Hyzen and his epeen. The Leaderships duty is to faithfully administrate guild policies as well as collect and gather the bits and pieces of what's going on in the guild. Although the member evaluation is the preview of the NR Officers it is a joint effort of all officers and members equally. Our responsibility is not to bash in heads or issue threats or create intrinsic rules governing members of the guild, rather we aim towards self-policing and our evaluation is only whether the principles of Nagaship has been violated - and in terms of some added effort to create focus and understanding of what requires changes and understanding changes in the game. We presuppose that what we produce in STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG Guild aren't blind followers but Nagamastas in their own right. |

8.0 Development of the Guild.
Elves who got fishy. - Vashnak. The question raised by Vashnak is very relevant for our current situation. We are not working with a guild that aims to please the masses or do the most popular thing - saying yes to everything is only too easy. We are building on what works, we are building on skill, and we are building on members who accept the necessary pragmatism required to be a successful guild. While we observe democratic rules and ideas, as in the public nature of this report, it is important to understand that the leadership will not accept being bogged down or tied down by regards to humanistic ideas of appeasement. Sometimes being a leader is heartbreaking but we do what is necessary to achieving the common good. Over the coming months we should see the fruits of our current labour. Once 2.4 Sunwell hits we should be able to relatively quickly get it on farm. But our vision doesn't stop there. We entered the high-end raiding scene late in the TBC time-table and therefore wasn't a major player in relation to guilds outside of TVC nor on TVC until around November 2007. Coming Sunwell and Wrath of the Lich King we, in STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG, will be there from the start and compete in every way we can while naturally still observing our dedication to four raid days. We will NOT compromise our quality in members - we are putting our feet down now and saying: Enough is Enough and Nevermore. We will rather not raid and die than destroy our game quality by dragging and carrying people through the game. We want everyone to understand that it's better to stop than to continue and force our hand in these matters. As such our future members as well as the current members in the future will be held strictly to the member ideals and we will strictly evaluate everyone according to these principles. We want competition for raid spots and we have that already now. We have the luxury of setting aside time to attune members and gear them up fast and we will take advantage of this situation. But our responsibility doesn't stop at our own Gchat - rather with the words of Winston Churchill, "With Greatness comes Great Responsibility". We will always want to treat our server with the greatest respect, crush our rivals and encourage other guilds to raid and help them in that regard in order to heighten not only the overall awareness of our Guild but also to profit from such thankfulness in terms of word to word fame, favourable deals and other side benefits of being known as a benevolent guild on whatever server we make our home. We must be kind but firm in PUGs. We must be hospitable towards strangers we invite on raids - while at the same time observe that no one approach us too closely or come in a position to directly challenge our leadership role. Again, this does not mean we must appease everyone, rather we must realise our worth and our standards and never compromise these - not even in the face of PUGs. No STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG will be forced to stay with scrubby PUGs that pays no attention - rather members are encouraged to induce a certain element of awe in strangers that they will see an STRAIGHT OUTTA COILFANG in their group as a privilege and guarantee of success. |
