What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
Not having proper damage mitigation. Bone shields helps a lot in survivability, but it lasts too short to be the true solution for the peak damage that blood Death Knights receive.

What makes playing your class more fun?
Different way of tanking, simply bad-!@# to tank with a 2-hander rather than Sword + Shield.

What makes playing your class less fun?
Blizzard wants us to tank with 2-handers, but they do not release 2-hander tank weapons. So we still compete with DPS classes to get these weapons, where other tank classes have no competition on the tank weapon loot.

Receiving so much grief about the peak damage we receive, and yes with proper play style some Death Knights are still able to reduce the peak damage by healing as a pro.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
Currently (and partly addressed by Blizzard already) is we have to sit on our runes to get the maximum out of Death Strike. Besides that I have always find it nice and fluent to play a Blood Death Knight.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
The change announced for bone shield should definitely reach 4.3, I believe that is one of the most important changes to Death Knight tanking where we have a solution for the peak damage coming in. Also instead of having to recast bone shield every time, we should have a chance-on-hit or a specific attack we have to use to recharge our bone shield.

Compared to Warriors (who can put vigilance on a friendly target) we have very little ways too taunt things upon us (death grip on 30 sec cooldown and taunt on 10 sec). While they get a refresh every time their selected target gets hit.

An actual 2-handed tank weapon, so we dont have to roll against all them facerolling warriors ;)

What spells do you use the least?
Death Coil, Festering Strike, Blood Strike (Heart Strike instead), Raise Dead and Army of Dead. Especially Army of Dead is useless in high-end raiding, as a tank it helps the DPS a bit on the boss, but its nothing to write a story about. Death Coil is not used because our RP drop ability is Rune Strike, so makes sense that it isn't used much.

- cancel spell (Pestilence) and add its effect to the skill (Blood Boil)
Warrior uses the skill (Rend) and transfer it to all enemies with (Thunder Clap + 2 points in
Blood and Thunder talent) = My suggestion: use skill DK (Outbreak), and transferred to the enemies would use (Blood Boil)

What makes playing your class less fun?
- track run for Tank
- difficult to apply the debuff (Scarlet Fever) as have other Tanks

- a little queasy watching the runes for Tank

Blood: Outbreak & Pestilence cause no threat, I have no aoe taunt.

Frost: Death Strike is useless even with the new glyph, some sort of balance should be found that's better than what it is now and not as overpowered as before.

What makes playing your class more fun?
Deathgripping! Feeling powerful and like a magical death knight.

What makes playing your class less fun?
Blood: Too many cooldowns and debuffs to manage.
Too much deathstriking, heartstriking, runestriking, the toon's animations seems to be doing the same over and over, so boring to look at...

Frost: High threat, Obliterate, Frost Strike and Howling Blast, all threat magnets, obviously less of a problem now with the big tank threat buff.
The more boring rotation now blood strike (which was lackluster though) is out of it. I'd like an extra button to push really.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
Blood & Frost: the current rune system for both of these and their rotation are quite boring, it's basically using the same 2 abilities over and over...

Frost: too fast now with Haste stacking and too few abilities used. I don't feel like a plate armor wearing juggernaut, but more like a rogue or something with all this haste...

What’s on your wish list for your class?
More combat animations: Both 2H and Dual Wielding has little variation. Just one new animation would be great for each spec.

Blood: AOE taunt

Corpse Explosion: a cool aoe that uses runic power instead of runes, gief back!

Blood boil: the previous bucket splash animation, absolutely hate that we got the same animation of Hammer of the Righteous, it's so boring to see the same animation on two tanks and it really hurt my view of dk's as the opposite kind of knight to paladins.

Blood boil: spreads diseases to all enemies as blood tank.

Expertise and hit made useful again for Blood Tanks, as I just hate missing abilities that much as now...

Talents like Butchery replaced or made more interesting

I play frost and i like that it is fast paced

What’s on your wish list for your class?
A squire i can summon to do the runeforging on the spot.
Heroism (/bloodlust) via a second horn something like"Horn of Awakening" we are a hero class after all =)
Faster default rune regeneration.
As for the diseases i would like to have a new ability so that i can buff their damage, maybe something similar to how shadow priests do it. That way the rotation could become more interesting.

Unholy Death Knights having access to more undead pets to equalize damage between Frost and Unholy and fore a new playstyle. Check my thread: Death Knights - Dominating the Undead. Many agree and would swap back to Unholy again if this was implemented.

The tank DK 2set bonus is just awfull and terribly bad. Is there reallly not somethine original you could come up as the current one just makes me cry. Even make IBFT last 5 seconds longer would make it way more intresting then the current effect!!!!!!!!

Frost is easy and therefor it feels really good, Unholy is a bit more work but also feels good.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
No cast-time on Hungering Cold. I cannot use it defensively anymore because I have to fake-cast it 1-3 times before I can cast it, but then I'm already dead. It just too hard too pull it of on the right moment (for example during a burst or as I said when you use it defensively).

I think the solution lies in making it instant again and it can only affect 1 target (which you have to target - not random). Then you can use it just like a Blind (from Rogue).

The second thing is the Pet in Unholy. This macro doesn't work anymore:
/petattack
/cast Leap
/cast Gnaw

It won't use Gnaw, never. While it has enough energy. Which takes me to the second thing about the pet. You have to either manually do Claw yourself, or have to macros to enable and disable Claw when you want to use Gnaw. Because (when you have auto Claw enabled) the pet will never have enough energy for Gnaw, or even queue up for Gnaw, evenwhile you spam it like hell. It would be nice if that was somehow fixed. But the most urgent points are the Hungering Cold cast time and the Pet macro.

I refuse to go Tauren for the War Stomp > Hungering Cold.

What spells do you use the least?
1. Blood Strike, because there is no room for it in either Frost or Unholy
2. Icy Touch, because there is no room for it in either Frost or Unholy (gets replaced by Howling Blast and Chains of Ice)
3. Dark Simulacrum, because I can't use it on my focus.
4. Death Strike, because the self healing is trivial in both Frost and Unholy, a waste of runes.

Allthough I am new to tanking and the death knight class I have done enough tanking in other MMO's to have a good general understanding of it. And I have also played WoW on and off and closely to a RL friend who has been tanking 5mans and been our raid tank for a very long time.

  • My biggest quality of life issue is that unlike other tanks in other mmorpgs such as the shadow knight in everquest 2 that relies alot onf self healing for example. I do not actually feel like a tank when tanking, I feel more like a DPS who can stay alive in a pinch rather than an actual tank. Defensive cds are fun, but not when they are absolutely necessery for every trash pack in order to be equal to a tank with a shield. It feels like I am playing a rogue with a 10 second evasion cooldown or something.

  • The constant wait on runes to cooldown. The feeling of taking enouormos amounts of damage all the time despite being tank makes me feel like a DPS class taking the role of a tank because the actual tank died during the encounter. Every attack animation looks the same, it really looks like I am doing the same attack over and over eventhough I am not.

  • My rotation is extremly easy, there is no real thought to put behind it. As a tank I put more effort into checking which of my survival CD's I should use rather than anything else. Eventhough this class is said to be reactive in tanking it feels more passive because the most important thing is the CD upkeep which ironically makes it less reactive and more passive because of CD cycling.

  • Less CD using in order to tank and more action. I wouldt mind having avoidance or pure damage mitigation tied to a specific attack. Not in the way blade barrier works though since that mechanic is not only boring but restricting. Good call on making it passive since we lack a shield, just try to make the class more active in "normal" playing rather than 80-90% defensive cd upkeep.

    How do you feel about your “rotation”?
    Way too much reliance on procs. We have 3 procs, which have a way to big impact on our DPS (Rime, Killing Machine and Runic Empowerment).
    >Killing Machine: Don't get me wrong, I like the Killing Machine talent, however, having no single proc while our cooldowns are up can greatly screw up our damage-output.
    >Rime: It is a nice addition, however making a T13 Setbonus which increases our reliance on this proc even more is not cool.
    >Runic Empowerment: Let's face it, having bad luck on this proc scews your DPS like nothing else. Standing 5 seconds behind a boss and not being able to press a button is not enjoyable at all. I like managing 2 ressources, but if there is nothing to manage because I had bad luck on the Runic Empowerment proc is plain stupid.
    >The difference between a good Frost DK and a bad Frost DK is very slim. "Easy to learn, nothing to master."
    >Plague Strike feels wrong.
    >If (!!) you have good RNG, the rotation is fast-paced and feels good because of the high crits with Killing Machine.
    What’s on your wish list for your class?
    General:
    >Change Empower Runic Weapon to aprox. 2 minutes CD, however remove the Runic Power gain and reduce the Rune gain to one of each sort. Right now, ERW just feels too clunky. It has a super high CD that it feels wasted if you can't use it while your DPS CDs are up (because you would overcap RP or you just had luck with Runic Empowerment and it would only restore 3 Runes instead of 6). Making it a smaller, not that strong DPS CD would make the the rotation a lot more fast-paced, since you could use it when you have bad luck on procs without feeling like you wasted it.
    >Make a Glyph that removes the taunt from Deathgrip, because sometimes you need to pull something to you without wanting it to beat the crap out of you.
    >Give us a bit more critical strike chance on our main abilities, since we can't gear for it.
    >Remove useless Runes (the Weapon Enchants) and create some new, interesting. I have no ideas right now, but your class designers get paid for this!
    Frost:
    >Festering Strike as a part of the rotation. One possibility would be to forget about the recent Blood of the North changes and make Festering Strike cost only one Blood Rune instead (and transform that Blood Rune into a Death Rune after using Festering Strike, just like the old model with Blood Strike). This would make Plague Strike much more situational and would make the rotation a bit more complex. The DPS values would need to be tweaked, but I guess that should be a non-issue.
    >Runic Corruption for Frost. I know it was meant to be iconic for the Unholy DK, however, I think it would be a very good addition to the Frost DK playstyle. Right now, you can have bad luck and stand there like 5 seconds without a single button to press. With Runic Corruption, this would not be nearly as extreme, because it increases the overall rune regeneration instead of restoring just one rune. You could also plan further ahead, since you could actually see which rune is recharging and when it is ready, which would make the whole rotation a lot more comfortable.
    >Change Raise Dead in a way, that each spec has a "fitting" minion, for example, some kind of "mini" Lich for Frost. With that, Frost would feel a lot more "frosty". Another thought in that direction is, that this minion could (for example) apply Frost Fever to your target, making Obliterate hit 12,5% harder for that time. This would create a nice synergy with your minion, instead of just having a braindead Ghoul auto-attacking your target.

    >Death and Decay single target does not feel "right" because it is an AOE spell. The second thing about it is, that on encounters where the boss is moving constantly (Shannox HC) it can screw up your DPS.
    >Gargoyle AI is flawed.
    >You have to plan carefully when or when not to use Dark Transformation, since it affects your DPS quite hard.
    >Runic Corruption feels so much better than Runic Empowerement, big <3.
    >Magic Suppression is a pretty neat talent, however, not being able to use it can lower your DPS, which makes me a sad panda. However, I dont know how to solve this, just wanted to list it here.

    well unholy is almost "dead" dps-class in raids.. i started raid firelands with 360ilvl and now i'm about 371 and i'm still in the bottom of the dps meters..this is very important for me cause raids is the reason playing this game and unholy is the spec that suits me and i find more intresting.. and as a dps class i hate being at the bottom of the charts.. so it's like u forced all unholy dk's to change to frost and that's not so fair.

    i realy enjoy the hole rotation of unholy.. the new spells "dark simularcrum" and "festering stike" are very cool..i also like the new raise ally.. and having our own city is awesome too!!

    >Actually, there are no "quality-of-life issues" comparing to the given example (Hunter ammo). Most problems are related to the rotation, talents and such.

    How do you feel about your “rotation”?
    Way too much reliance on procs. We have 3 procs, which have a way to big impact on our DPS (Rime, Killing Machine and Runic Empowerment).
    >Killing Machine: Don't get me wrong, I like the Killing Machine talent, however, having no single proc while our cooldowns are up can greatly screw up our damage-output.
    >Rime: It is a nice addition, however making a T13 Setbonus which increases our reliance on this proc even more is not cool.
    >Runic Empowerment: Let's face it, having bad luck on this proc scews your DPS like nothing else. Standing 5 seconds behind a boss and not being able to press a button is not enjoyable at all. I like managing 2 ressources, but if there is nothing to manage because I had bad luck on the Runic Empowerment proc is plain stupid.
    >The difference between a good Frost DK and a bad Frost DK is very slim. "Easy to learn, nothing to master."
    >Plague Strike feels wrong.
    >If (!!) you have good RNG, the rotation is fast-paced and feels good because of the high crits with Killing Machine.
    What’s on your wish list for your class?
    General:
    >Change Empower Runic Weapon to aprox. 2 minutes CD, however remove the Runic Power gain and reduce the Rune gain to one of each sort. Right now, ERW just feels too clunky. It has a super high CD that it feels wasted if you can't use it while your DPS CDs are up (because you would overcap RP or you just had luck with Runic Empowerment and it would only restore 3 Runes instead of 6). Making it a smaller, not that strong DPS CD would make the the rotation a lot more fast-paced, since you could use it when you have bad luck on procs without feeling like you wasted it.
    >Make a Glyph that removes the taunt from Deathgrip, because sometimes you need to pull something to you without wanting it to beat the crap out of you.
    >Give us a bit more critical strike chance on our main abilities, since we can't gear for it.
    >Remove useless Runes (the Weapon Enchants) and create some new, interesting. I have no ideas right now, but your class designers get paid for this!
    Frost:
    >Festering Strike as a part of the rotation. One possibility would be to forget about the recent Blood of the North changes and make Festering Strike cost only one Blood Rune instead (and transform that Blood Rune into a Death Rune after using Festering Strike, just like the old model with Blood Strike). This would make Plague Strike much more situational and would make the rotation a bit more complex. The DPS values would need to be tweaked, but I guess that should be a non-issue.
    >Runic Corruption for Frost. I know it was meant to be iconic for the Unholy DK, however, I think it would be a very good addition to the Frost DK playstyle. Right now, you can have bad luck and stand there like 5 seconds without a single button to press. With Runic Corruption, this would not be nearly as extreme, because it increases the overall rune regeneration instead of restoring just one rune. You could also plan further ahead, since you could actually see which rune is recharging and when it is ready, which would make the whole rotation a lot more comfortable.
    >Change Raise Dead in a way, that each spec has a "fitting" minion, for example, some kind of "mini" Lich for Frost. With that, Frost would feel a lot more "frosty". Another thought in that direction is, that this minion could (for example) apply Frost Fever to your target, making Obliterate hit 12,5% harder for that time. This would create a nice synergy with your minion, instead of just having a braindead Ghoul auto-attacking your target.

    Raise Ally, i hate having to have to, in most cases, move out from battle to use it, its more of a pain when tanking too, as if you use it, the person ressurected could get cleaved.

    I have no major concerns, however when runes are on cooldown for my frost spec and i have little runic power, its never any fun :(

    •What’s on your wish list for your class?

    Something to do with my blood runes after the patch change... Perhaps a new tanky type spell? seeing as though Blade Barrier will be passive, it seems that a Blood DK will hardly use its Namesake rune anymore (except for Runetap and Imp Blood Tap perhaps)

    A suggestion would be to remove the RP cost of DRW and instead make it cost 2 blood runes, this would make our signature talent easier accessible in high damage times.

    I would like to state that I find the T13 2p set bonus overly disappointing.
    Activating in conjunction with Will of the Necropolis makes it completely overshadowed and unnoticeable. Furthermore its role is completely taken by Blood Tap, devaluing it significantly.
    We sit on runes for these circumstances specifically, therefore it will not gain us anything we did not already have. (You are very unlikely to ever enter the 31%-35% hp range)

    The current design just has a horrible synergy with Blood Tap and WotN. And if this bonus makes it to live, make sure it activates the rune that is not currently affected by Blood Tap, and vice-versa.

    Rotation is fine However i am somewhat concerned about the coming ds change. Losing runes isnt like losing rage or mana. rage can be back in a moment. A rune takes 10 odd seconds on a good day. May make things difficult on a fight where tank dps is required. Minor concern though.

    To not drop to 0.5% of my health in half a second with nothing i can do about it before the next melee swing.

    Well i imagine saying dark similacrum and necrotic strike would kinda be redundant as they are situational. And other than that i use everything.
