Guild castles.

In response to the other recent thread about carpentry and player housing, I would prefer guild housing. I would like guilds to be able to buy 1plot only and they would cost varying amounts from the poor farther away from the city's , say for sw the poorer guild would be in duskwind and the expensive plot to be in elwyn forest. I don't think it should be lvl 25 guilds to only get the best plot or build the biggest castle. It should be by cost so it would be the devotion of the players and the amount they would contribute so even a small rp guild could say muster 150 000 gold to build say a small hold and the richer to say raise 500 000 gold to build a castle. This would allow later extensions of the buildings and out buildings and moats and such. This could open up world pvp and siege machines maybe in later expansions. It's all pie in the sky but I would love to be able to leave the city and go to our guilds castle rather than gather in a random location. As long as these were all within a decent distance to a major city I don't think the rp players would be spread to wide. I think it would also be great if they were race specific with nelfs building them in the trees, dwarfs underground burrows and such. Just my thoughts, what do yous think?

A common argument against this is, "It will destroy world RP." I'd be quick to say that that statement is false and rather stupid. But the problem, here on SWC, is that it's community is rather insular (certainly on the Horde) and most of the RP that happens on here is 'bubble RP'.
I'm concerned that giving these 'bubble RPers' a place to hide will just further decrease world RP. |

I honestly wouldnt know what to think about guild halls and such. They sound like a good idea but I'd rather RP in the already-there world rather than instanced guild halls. I'll assume they'd have to be instanced.

I actually agree with the notion that it'd be bad for world RP. Plus, didn't you just contradict yourself, saying the argument is false but then acknowledging it'd decrease world RP? |

To clarify: Generally, the people who make these arguments come from 'dead' or 'dying' RP realms and suggest that this will happen across all RP realms based purely on their own realms. This makes their arguments false and rather fallacious, too. However, I was talking about SWC specifically. Call me out on it if you still want to, though! |

I do believe that it would negatively influence world RP though, regardless of how much or little there is on a specific realm. Some guilds have their own 'castles' already in a way, but to really give guilds their own private space... that's a little too far in my eyes. |
My guild could probably muster 15000 gold between us. Clearly not enough to purchase our much desired lair of evil in this bizarre Azeroth you have created. |

I would like it if they weren't instanced so people are all still within the same area. A huge amount of things have changed since wow began and I wouldn't say anything is out of bounds as far as blizz are concerned especially to keep people happy. A declining number of players maybe will put RPers a bit more uP the list with regards to needs. If not guild housing what would increase your rping pleasure? I would like some race specific mounts to decrease the homogenisation that seems prevalent of late. Some individuality can only be a good thing imho.

But all the mounts are collectable upon getting exalted. Apart from palas, locks and death knights they rest are obtainable , my suggestion is to have race only and maybe make the guard armour and weapons for each race collectable by only that race. I am only suggesting a bit more race specific things, it's not game changing by any means or even hard to add in.
