The current RP state of SSL

Hello there!
Some of you might recognize me, some of you may not. I’ve been on this server for almost 5 years now (give or take) and for the past 1½ year I’ve been spending most of my time on Argent Dawn and been mostly roleplaying. I remember the days when there was still activity on Scarshield Legion, naturally I’m referring to RP here. It’s with curiosity that I’m posting here with a question in mind, how is roleplay on SSL these days? Is there still enough activity for such to occur or have all those players I used to interact with jumped boat? From what I can see on the realm forum there’s people alive, running different projects but most of them seem to take place on the Horde side (not that I have anything against our savage enemies with a leader that has a brain capacity of a peanut!). I hope someone will take time to at least give me a small reply so that I can get an insight of how the RP is doing these days! |

Umm.... I dunno.
I cashed in cuz Blizz said my account was hacked so i went to check it. And it was. Hacked. Anyway, with friend list and everything gone, SSL dead... I feel like grinding on a new server is a waste of my precious time. And so on. And so on. |

Ever the source of optimism Malek. Role-play is surprisingly reciprecotive here, you get out precisely what you put into it. But gone are the glory days, role-play is quiet and largely overshadowed by the incessant spam.
You know as well as i do though, of the quiet corners, the places where you can meet and spin your stories, it is still here, the role-players however may have just changed names or characters though. My friends list too, is extremely quiet, i scrolled down it yesterday to see some very sorely missed players... one druid imparticular, that used to talk to animals, he thought everyone had food for him and was pretty much in bear form everywhere he went, his story and character were an inspiration. Even Adalan, the very charm of Silvermoon itself has gone, but if we do nothing to carry on the traditions of the realm, then there will be nothing for players like yourself Naigrami, to find here. That said, you can find me on my alliance character from time to time, and i will be only too happy to role-play with you, and i hope i speak for atleast a few more from <Disillusion> by saying that they too, would always make you feel welcome. Take good care anyway, and you may find my druid's blue eyes tracking you sooner than you think. |

It has to be said that RP does almost die otu when the people are not there to do it with like the old days. For myself, I just amuse myself with shouting "Beer Brawl" as the Dark Irons attack and other such responses to things in game in the hope of an occasional response.
And I've only beaten them once this year!!! |

Good to see you're still there! Granted, I've been somewhat inactive when it comes to playing beside raiding. Though recently found more fun in playing again. Noticed that RP these days seems mostly dead on Alliance side, or at least it's hard to find. That goes for Steamwheedle Cartel too. RP is hard to find there too. Haven't been to Argent Dawn lately, though was always positive about its Spontaneous RP. Roleplay on SSL sadly isn't what it used to be, back in Vanilla, or TBC. I agree with my Good old Friend Garv. One has to put in effort to receive. In raids, when people are toying, I still try to play the Old, Sagely Druid Drakonis. |

I think at the moment there just seems to be no interest in RP from anyone accept the old timers of the server. With no big RP events going on or even drama there is nothing to make new players want to RP.
When I started WoW I found the idea of RP funny and never took part until I seen people having small RP events that suddenly got me interested. Without the public events there is nothing to make people think "ooh that looks interesting" and so it's really difficult to run an RP guild when no one is interested in joining. |

I can't really speak for what the RP used to be like on Scarshield Legion since I've only been around since the release of WotLK. However, I think it's a real shame that it's not a more common sight on this server. I know it's still out there though, in very small dozes!
I'm definitely willing to preserve and fight for what little RP there might be left on this server. Anu belore dela'na! |

Since people ignore RP -speech 99.999999% of the time, I think we should dedicate a zone for RP (like Darkshire).

Jeez...rp on SSL, its been a damn long time.
Attempts have been made to restore RP in the past on SSL (at least on the Alliance side) but from all my memory they failed dramatically. We had about 4 or 5 weeks of awesome RP then everyone began to drift off once again. While i'd say good luck to any trying another reboot im sadly going to say farewell and stick with all those who moved on. Only ever come on this character to check things every now and again. I'll stick with my pleasant memories in the Stormwind Militia thank you, best of luck to all those left. Probably the best quality of RP i've ever seen on this realm. Ta-ta! |

As I said in another thread, you need people to be committed in the same way that Pilus et al from SSL's "Golden Age" to creating RP that people can join in with and to be committed to it for at least 6 months for RP to regain a foothold. If that doesn't happen RP is almost certainly going to remain, at best, internal to a few guilds and very occasional random RP out of the blue.

I've witnessed the RP decline happen on several servers before this one, and it always happens in the same way - people expect RP to fall into their laps. Most RP revival initiatives suffer the same fate, as they're usually spearheaded by one or two motivated individuals who then burn out as everyone else involved just waits for someone else to hand RP to them. It's sad, but not unexpected.

Hey guys. I hurd this was an old school thread.
Saw this when I was on the forums. Roleplaying on SSL reached an all time low, don't know what its like now-a-days. I miss you Thaya. :( |
