I rolled on here to get away from the misc. activities on argent dwan (Honestly worst rp server ever.) its peaceful but is lacking the roleplay aspect.

Well, just thought I'd shamefully bump this thread and wave to all the familiar faces from vanilla/TBC, including Naigrami.. who I believe I never spoke to personally but have seen countless times back in the day. Getting very nostalgic by reading through this thread... Seeing so many familiar names of awesome people.
There's still RP going on in SSL! There's not exactly an overabundance of roleplayers running around, but it's not dead. |

As someone who has been RP'ing around SSL for like 5-6 yeas now with different names, I am really wondering if there is still something going on.
I miss those old times with the Militia and the Cult and all the stuff. |

Is there anyone else who likes to RP constantly? I mean, even in a situations where others may speak in OOC all around you. I'm an old school role player, and used to write my own games over ten years before WOW was originally released. That's why i'm at times confused about the way that people are currently RP:ing, and many are confused about my way. I think it would do good to force push the role playing in this realm a bit... because in the end, this is an RP realm, and it should be the primary way to play (in all respect to every form of RP:ing).

I occasionally Roleplay around OOC'ers and roleplay with NPCs depending on what I'm after, yeah.

Sadly, after all these years there has been an influx of people who have joined the server (Probably because the game auto-assigns them to Scarshield Legion) who don't understand what RP is or the rules behind it.. Not to mention those who give ridiculous names.. Male Tauren Druid - Bullshift Female Human Paladin - Titzmachine Male Draenei Paladin - Naaru Male Human HOLY Paladin - Fallenshadow Some fine examples fresh from Argent Dawn.. Makes my blood boil, urging me to stand in Stormwind Auction house and report every person I see with bad names. >:( |

I already to that <3 I know some people might find my name slightly out of place, but it stems from a backstory where she was originally a paladin and simply kept the name as she was converted by Arthas. (Side note, Ayrin means 'peace') |

Anyway, we don't need (and never actually had) many RPers to enjoy the game. In fact, 5-6 people per guild is more than enough in most cases, and having over 10 at one place often only makes handling the situation harder. Well, that's from my personal experience at least. Now don't tell me there's not at least a couple dozen people willing to RP that rolled their character on a !@#$ing RP realm among (literally) thousands of players we have on SSL (even if it's considered low). Of course there are people. Some of them might be new and just don't know where to start. Some might not want to take on the responsibility and are simply waiting for someone to lead the way. Some are just downright bad at RP, but willing to learn and improve. All we have to do is find those people, introduce them to the realm lore and work towards quality over quantity. And there are also those who has seen the better days of SSL RP. This is what pains me the most. So many projects and initiatives dying due to people not willing to stick together. They might get support and approval here, but no one actually bothers leaving a single post on their dedicated forums later. It's like people saying "oh hey, I like the idea, now go bring back the good times I used to have!" right in your face. Needless to say, most of those initiatives don't last longer than a couple months. As someone trying to run a guild all by himself, I'll tell you. They don't need your approval. They need people who share their passion, those who would fight alongside them and not just give up the moment something doesn't work out. For all it matters, right now most of all I want someone to simply tell me that all I'm trying to do won't be in vain. Alas, nobody* seems to be interested in troll RP anymore, so for now I have to endure. So this is what I'm getting at. We have the people, with or without MoP or GW2 or whatever game's coming out. What we don't have is the RP community. We don't have a place like WAL anymore. We don't even seem to have a unified RP chat channel (at least on the Horde side). SSL only stands a chance if we bring unity before trying to offer diversity, and no expansion will ever change that. I won't offer any set plan of actions here, we have plenty all over the first page of this very forum. I only want to make people realize that simply communicating with each other will help, even if it has little to do with RP at all. So deciding upon a common place to do that seems like a valid course of action to me, an ingame chat channel being the easiest to establish. So discuss, share your ideas and... well... talk to each other! That's what RP is all about! *Hey, Lilliath! Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate your support... But let's be realistic, even if you do help me with HoZ right now, there's just no way I can have a fellow RP project leader all to myself. Sooner or later I'll have to let you go back to your pesky allies (damn them! >_<) and will once again be on my own. So I'm still hoping people will show some more interest in time (granted, I haven't attempted any heavy recruiting yet). I'm also hoping to actually see you in-game XD (yes, I absolutely fail at those small things, see the "lack of communication" part) |

Only seen Turidas there once in something like 2 weeks now, hence raising the issue. As for the forum, I checked the first page, but only was able to find dead stuff. You should advertise more! =Ъ
