Greetings,
I am going to try and make this thread as best I can without sounding like I am crying, I want to try and provide the best feedback I can on this profession and hopefully seek some views and opinions from others. What I like What I dislike What would be nice _________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for your time reading, please everyone post me your likes, dislikes and what you would perhaps like to see for the profession for the future. I am hoping that we may see some news on this profession at BlizzCon, if not I sure hope someone at least brings it up in the Q&A! Perhaps I may be able to get some of my own questions answered! Thanks again! (edit: correcting list item bullet point) P.S: If I could also get many wishes of luck so that I can discover the |

I agree with ya.
Though I feel Archaeology needs a redesign. It would've been better if it was rewarding, for the love of Elune (What? I was a Night Elf before I was risen as a shambling horror by the Dark Lady only for latter find myself a minion of scourge, I kept my faith) we're treasure hunters, why there's never a treasure, like finding something that actually sells for a K or two, instead of random useless craps we're getting right now. The category of rewards are not worthy of the precious time we spend, I can simply run a few instances and get richer by miles than gluing 100 pieces of random junk to sell them for tops 10g.. there are more expensive junks though like that hardly makes any difference. |

I agree i got like 5 or 6 rares left to do but flying up and down and use hs now and then isn't really fun especially when im going for tol'vir now i can barely stand 30 minutes while doing it.
A profession in my opinion is supposed to be fun in my opinion, and most of the gear are going to be obsolete in the next patch which makes it even more annoying. |

I must admit, when I get 4 dig sites appear in Uldum, this pleases me greatly!
However, if I then go there, collect them all and all I get was some lousy However I am sure if one of those lovely rare items popped then my heart would thump like a platypus with pure excitement. I am just having a hard time thinking of any way to keep the items rare so when you do discover one, it is a triumph! but also making it a bit less grindy and RNG. |

Don't agree with some of your dislikes.
Personally the time spent doesn't seem any less or any more rewarding than anything else in the game. How does raiding reward you? By giving you the equipment ready for the next raid. How does archaeology training reward you? By giving you the levels required to dig up new stuff. I'm not too fond of that either, but I understand why it's in place. We'd all be in Uldum by now otherwise... The game is built around RNG. It's true that Archaeology is the first profession (except maybe Fishing...) to be built primarily around it, but it's nothing new. I've killed Ragnaros (MC) 72 times since achievements were added and I still don't have an Eye of Sulfuras. Killed the exact same boss on my Paladin 5 times before I got my mace. Someone might've got the Zin'rokh after 30 solves, I've done over 500 without seeing it. That's just the game... Does it suck? Yeah a bit... Is there a better, fairer alternative? I don't think so. I don't like the idea of "Do X over and over and the percentage of something dropping will increase"... This is the part I like most about archaeology. I can just auto-run somewhere on my flying mount whilst playing guitar, synth, browsing the internet or whatever else. Like I said, this is nothing new. Play for fun. If you don't like archaeology, don't do it. A lot of people don't like raiding, but do it anyway... Always blown my mind. I'd be kind of gutted if they changed archaeology, however if they do, I'll understand why. More rares would be amazingly nice though :) They should be adding at least 10 per major content patch in my opinion. |

Just wanna add a idea.
Make the key stones univeral? then i could use all my worthless nightelf ones to go for what i realy want the tol'vir (ofc). Maybe even add some other fun stuff to find rather than just the fragments? a epic mining pick or whatever. |

I would love to have the rares a little less rare. :) I'm working on the Crawling Claw myself, being a pet-enthusiast and a completionist, my inner self is screaming at me for not having it yet. I'm sitting on 101 Tol'vir solves and I haven't gotten a rare since the Pendant of the Scarab Storm at my 21st solve. The only "super-rare" I've got is Tyrande's Favourite Doll.
I grit my teeth and keep going. Sometimes I really hate my brain... |

171 tol'vir solves, got ring-->scarab thingy--->staff, no mount yet -_-
having to occasionally go to AQ to ride the blue mount and remind myself why i am farming this >.> best of luck to you OP |

Ouch :( that is harsh, I do admit I got pretty lucky with my Tol'vir rares so far (apart from mount and staff) got them all within the first 115 I believe but keep it up and I am sure you will get there!
Haha, that is not a bad idea! I may have to do this myself as I am slowly starting to feel like giving up!
Very true indeed, I think with me not raiding since tbc/wrath has pretty much made me forget about how long it took me to get some of those items I wanted, I did find raiding more fun than archaeology but I guess when you are just farming for ONE thing then it would be exactly the same, just another RNG grind >.< Make the key stones univeral? then i could use all my worthless nightelf ones to go for what i realy want the tol'vir (ofc). Love the idea for this, I was talking to someone yesterday saying rather than just 'junk' items, would be nice to have some silly stuff every now and then like the |

they only have to reduce the amount of nightelf digsites by half
50% less digsites of that !@#$. and certainly not in mount hyjal. god i hate that zone. and 80% less chance getting night elf digsites when you completed all including rares and non rares. that would be a good start. if that was inplanted, i would rarely see those lame stupid not needed digsites ever again. i just want tolvir for the recipe in some lame jar. btw i alrdy got the scepter, while i wasnt looking for it tbh. only started the prof for that 1 recipe. |

Indeed, it does feel rather annoying farming Night Elf dig sites knowing that I have already completed everything there :(
Also, adding another like! Likes: My reasoning behind this is that it takes enough time flying across the map reaching a dig site, when you get there, you want to be done with it as fast as possible to get your fragments etc, I just don't see the reasoning to have huge dig sites sometimes. I think I would prefer the bigger dig sites split down into 3 smaller ones to prevent the whole: Survey (red) fly, land, Survey (red) fly, land, Survey (red) ..... (╯‵Д′)╯彡┻━┻ |

this isn't so bad if you do archaeology when levelling up. it gives some pretty decent xp
|
Very true indeed! I actually went to the length of levelling my Priest up purely using archaeology, I mean when she hit 85 she had level 80 gear which wasn't too good but I did discover It was actually quite good leveling up with it since you have both the bonus of getting the nice exp and the chance of getting some items which you would have just farmed for at 85 anyway. |
|
I hate it.
It takes way too long to level. Flying that far to get 3 digs sucks. It's not really even useful, just another piece of achievement collecting. It does offer cool stuff and all but imo it's not worth it. |
