Mist of Pandaria will be childish

I expect more outrage when I bring forth my Gnomish Monk named something along the lines of Krillin into a fight and chaos ensues with SPINNING DESTRUCTO DISK!

What doesn't MoP has to do with Kung Fu Panda? Most important background scenery from key scenes of KFP are in the trailer to MoP.
Bouncy racial is taken directly from KFP, and so is the gluttony racial they will have. If you have seen KFP it's pretty obvious. |

Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

@Luminosity
Why would it be wrong to not want to play a game because it's childish? We're not discussing maturity, just general appeal. Personally I'd just prefer an MMO that is designed with an adult audience in mind as target audience, or I do at very least not want to invest my time in a game that will revolve around the kids movie Kung fu Panda. I grew up with Pokémon, still play it and have the latest version right here on my desk. It is a childish game, but it's a game I can turn off whenever I feel like it, unlike an MMO that becomes compulsory and very time-consuming. In that regard I do think adult indeed can be a term of approval -- depending on what YOU want to get out from a game, or anything at all for that matter. If someone have read a fairy tale and decides it's not in her interest because it's childish, can you blame her for saying she doesn't want to read the next fairy tale because it is childish? |

How many people aged 24 and over still play videogames, and still play ones like Super Mario and whatnot? The way that videogame naming conventions are going right now is that they either sound like ABBA albums or the name of some generic, one hit wonder rock or metal bands singles and albums.
Examples: Fresh from Sweden, SUPER LUIGI INSIDE STORY, all about the dubstep this one! Bioshock Infinite, the 'Best of' album from THE RASMUS!!! Grand Theft Auto London, the British capital's latest offering of industrial tunes to mosh to! You get the general idea. My /\ point is; this argument about MoP is going in circles since day one. It will go on release, people will either buy it or they won't, and then move onto some other videogame that either has a similar genre or try out something fresh. Don't try to kid me about people going outside into the sunshine and riding a bikes, my tyres are flat from !@#$%^ syringes going through the park in Blackpool, the gods of Irony will see everything go full circle and people will still be playing videogames whether they're married and 43, or 14 and got to play WoW for doing well at exams. And they shall feast on the irony. NOM. Regarding Star Wars, the 4th episode was essentially considered a fairy tale. The varied adventures breach the castle and rescue the princess and evil is vanquished! Yay! It's always worth noting that for extra perspective before claiming it's made for adults or kids, as well as remembering Jar Jar Binks. NEVER. FORGET. I think that Bioware will probably be remaining somewhat faithful to the original KotOR games, which definitely had a bit more substance and depth to them that Episodes 1 to 3 ever had, so it will reach out to maturer audiences.. but a Star Wars game will always either attract younger players "OMF LIGHTSABRES SQUEEEEEE" or bring out an adult's inner child "OMF LIGHTSABRES SQUEEEEEEEE (or) OMF BOUNTY HUNTERS SQUEEEEEEEE". I just wish people would realise there's nothing really wrong with this. If everyone was an adult, we'd all be watching News at Ten, in bed by 11 and going to our offices at 7am in the morning to shout at our underlings who were up all night raiding Deathwing, drinking heavily on the last attempt that turned out to be successful and then slaughtered Murlocs naked in Elwynn until 4am having gloriously immature, childish fun. |

Everyone will buy MoP.
We can all complain about the maturity of it. I like the idea of leaving the main bad guy out of the spotlight until the final patches, it makes for a pretty poor title, and intro story but I can live with that. As long as the content can talk for itself. |

George Lucas dropped the ball with the prequels.
You could argue that Star Wars is child-friendly, I mean we've got the Ewoks and the Gungans... and then we've got some dude with one arm and both legs cut off, catching fire as he's desperately trying to crawl away from the steaming red-hot lava. I don't know about you lot but when I was a kid and saw Episode 6 for the first time, Vader's face scared the crap out of me. I don't know how I would have reacted to seeing Anakin being burned alive at that age. Even to this day I find that scene to be grotesque. I have much more respect for the kotor-games, and let's not lose sight of the fact that the old republic MMORPG IS based on that era; Knights of the Old Republic. |

As Kath is saying I had KOTOR (and also more recent BioWare games such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect 1&2) in mind when comparing WoW to a BioWare game. So I'll be exchanging pandas for drama in form of dialogues, and it's something that I find deeply intriguing.
I suspect that a kid drawn to SWTOR because of flashy lightsabers and what not easily could get bored with it or at least dislike that you have to spend so much time just talking. It's not anything wrong with stuff having appeals to younger players, I just prefer to have some meaningful dialogues with NPCs in MMOs from now on. |
meaningful dialogues.
