In WoTLK my resto shaman actually did tank in some raids. took tricks and MDs to keep aggro tho. and all healing i did was on self. :D Shaman could tank, why not! Not done any wild tricks on Cataclysm yet like this since I lack gear for raid "tanking" :(

I agree that shammies should get a tankspec. Why not? At the moment the druids have one feral-tree which is split on two, why can't shammies have the same? I'd love to tank on mine.

Shamans could easily be tanks with a few tweaks.
First off they can use shields. They have a few talents that would help like toughness They have a taunt. Blizzard could easily pull this off. |

I would love to have an tank specc on my shaman, I love healing,tanking...but I love my shaman, so shaman tank would be a very nice idea.
