Player Ideas: Impressive New Guild Features!

Edited by Curthorus on 13/02/12 15:07 (UTC)
Yo! As a Guild Master like myself i always had ideas in regards of benefiting the Guild system prior to it's Uniqueness. So I took my time and really invested my thinking into a few new features that would help Guilds all around the Servers. Here are my ideas along with details and info:
1. Recruitment Tab showing eligible players Online Status So when your checking Guild Activity and you stumble on the Requests tab showing you all the Guild-less players wanting to join your Guild and you scroll through all those Requests clicking ''Invite'' yet 90% of the time your getting ''>Player Name< not found.'' Here is a simple solution: Online players which are in the Requests tab are colored Green meaning they are online and available for an immediate invite, so you basically just scroll fast and stop at the ones colored Green giving you spare time which would take a lot longer going through most of them just clicking and scrolling. Example Image: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/856/guild1.jpg/ Yeah it's made fast, the point matters. 2. Banned Bulletin Board I'm sure plenty of Guilds have had players who were Rude, Insulting People and giving Threats. That's where the Banned Bulletin Board or ''BBB'' comes in. On the Guild interface you see 3 other tabs on the upper side: Info, Recruitment, Requests and next to Requests you would find BBB. Clicking it would open a list of names which were Banned from the Guild and clicking on one of the names would open a small window with a Description as to why that player is banned. I'm sure many Guild Masters kicked certain players and the next day you logged in, the same player was invited back by someone else continuing his/her rampage. You simply open the BBB Tab and set the names of players you want Banned providing a description. Other Guild members attempting to invite a Banned player back into the Guild will get a notice ''Cannot invite Banned players''. Of course there will be a limit of Banned Players and the Guild Master will set as to which Guild members can Ban certain players according to they're Rank. Added Feature! (Idea of Underpantz - Saurfang) When Kicking and Banning a player in the guild, you will get the option to ban that players account, meaning if he tries joining the same guild on another character he will be unable to join. 3. Show other characters per Account Guild Interface, Roster Tab, clicking a players name you will find another window opening to the right indicating they're info and as you see Note, Officer's Note, below that one you would find other Characters of that player but only the ones on the same Realm and Faction and the best part is, if your doing it while the player is offline on that character you would see one of his/her names marked Green, meaning he/she is online on that character. I'm sure a lot of you were wondering when that person might show up online yet you never knew he already was yet on a different character or maybe even his other character is in the same Guild online as your checking exept you didn't notice. Example: You need certain Gems given that character is a Jewelcrafter and you see him online on another character, so you whisper him ''Hey, can you log on to your main so i can buy some Gems off of you'' since Guild Members get a slight discount in most Guilds. It's a good way to find your way around reaching fellow Guild Members on for certain occasions. Players will have the ability to enable/disable this feature. 4. Greater Guild Logo Customization I'm sure this one has been seen many times which is still a popular topic if you ask me. Looking through the Arena Logo's you see an impressive plus looking back on the Guild Logo's. I know, I know it takes graphics and stuff making it even more difficult being visually seen on Tabards if it was upgraded, all I'm suggesting is more Logo's. 5. Guild Heralds/Guild Pages sharing the same Race as it's User The companion or ''slave'' as some put it does resemble the Guild well but I'm thinking if it shared the same race and the opposite gender of the character summoning itperhaps, it would be more... ''Stretched out'' 6. More room for letters in the Guild Vault Tab's As most Guilds contain they're precious Guild Banks, I'm sure most of you find the naming of the Tabs a bit short. Increasing the number of letters for let's say 12 characters would be a remarkable attribute. 7. Guild Vault - Withdraws per Week As Guild Master are setting they're ranks they usually stumble upon ''Withdraw Items (stacks/day):'' Instead of 1 item per day, I'm thinking for example: 4 Items per Week would be a good edition. You would get a choice if you want it per day or per week. |

8. New Companion, the ''Guild Balloon''
Seeing the new Horde/Alliance balloons along with the Darkmoon Faire balloons, having a Balloon with the Guild Logo and color on it would surely light up the spirit since Balloons have become quite popular after they came out. 9. Guild Hangouts marked on the World Map When your viewing the World Map seeing the Grey Fortress icons marked on all the Capital Cities, I'm sure some Guilds have that common place where they meet either for Fun, Good Times, Getting Ready/Inspected for a Raid or just Admiring the Environment. Let's say a Rogue Guild likes meeting up in Ravenholdt, A Guild who's passion for Dwarves made Aerie Peak they prime spot for they're Meetings, A PvP Guild who favors the Gurubashi Arena and visits it occasionally, you get my point. Well the Guild Master would mark a specific Area on the map, seen only by they're Guild Members like the Fortress icons for Capital cities and so providing the Guilds Prime Favorite Place on the map knowing where the next meeting might be. Only the Guild Master decides where that place lies and he/she can only mark one. 10. Improved Guild invites Idea of Willow and Me - Moonglade When a specifically ranked guild member who has access to invites regarding new members who applied, he can send an invite to that player even though he/she might be offline, so when the player checks his/her mail or sent requests he can just accept the invite and join immediately, his/her invite was accepted therefor he has let's say one week to respond otherwise the invite disappears. He can have a limited number of Guild invites sent to him and he/she can decline them back if he/she changed his/her mind and apply for new ones or accept the other ones replied back at him/her. Also, if a player sends his/her request to join a Guild and gets declined, he/she should receive mail with a reason why the request was declined from the person/officer/G-Master who ever declined it. 11. Improved Guild Log Idea of Znufflessd and Me - Kazzak The Guild log shows us who left the Guild, who joined it and who invited him/her. "Uknown" has left the guild is not helpful. If a player changes his/her name or Realm Transferes it should show who changed it to what and who transfered to where. Would be helpful finding specific players who you'd like to keep in touch or have unfinished business. Players deleting their characters. It should show who was deleted. If the player was banned. Also, when a player leaves the Guild, he/she should leave a note which would be readable in the Guild log explaining why he/she left. 12. Guild Achievement Logs Idea of Furude and Me - The Sha'tar As you view G Achievements like ''Uldaman guild Run'' or ''Karazhan Guild Run'' you can see which Guild Members were present at this achievement. Take ''Mighty Miners'' for example, you would see a special criteria of percentages of guild members who attempted this achievement, like: *InsertRandomPlayerName* 29.33% total ore Mined *InsertRandomPlayerName2* 22.13% total ore Mined Same for an achievement like ''Creepjackers'', and don't worry you won't get a ton of scrolling to do, it will only show top 10 or something there, depending on the Achievement type. 13. Improved Money Log Idea of Ice - Outland from separate thread In the Guild Vault you have the ability to check the log showing how much money certain players used for repairs and deposits, here's the upgrade. You would have a Tab showing the weekly total of how much each player used for Gear Repairs and another Tab showing how much each player deposited or just top 20 to avoid spam. You would see it in percentages and/or the amount of gold taken. Same for deposits and withdraws. So you when you enter the Money Log you would have the ability to choose between the 4: -Withdraws this week/previous week -Deposits this week/previous week -Gold used for repair this week/previous week -Cash flow deposits this week/previous week All sorted on player and amount and of course a stat showing who deposited/withdrew the most and seeing who contributes the most. There would even be a search option where you search by player names finding specific players your interested in seeing what they are doing/have done. Thanks for checking my ideas and hoping you will share similar thoughts and getting this Thread noticed so that maybe some of these might actually be implemented into the Game which we all so eagerly enjoy! MORE IDEAS BELOW YUMIELF'S COMMENT! Alright! Gonna leave for some responses, share your thoughts! :D |

14. Guild Gold Task Tab Idea of Tethane - Emerald Dream
Ok, GGTT. It's not that complicated so listen. The Guild has gold and let's say a Scribe takes 300g from the Bank and then deposits 6 Glyphs. Well to prevent miss leads on thievery, here is an unique system I thought of with the help of Tethane. There will be a ''GGTT'' Tab in the Guild Vault so the Guild Master and the Officers will have access to check Requests made by players. Say a player makes a request of taking 500g so he could make let's say 10 flasks and he sends the request in the Vault where he posted it. There will be a special Request log for the GM and Officers to either accept or decline. But 500g for 10 flasks isn't sufficient and it is then declined. Then, some other player makes a Request stating to take 200g so he could use it to buy herbs and make 18 Glyphs. The GM / Officer then click accept and the next time that player who sent the request checks it he can immediately take the amount of gold he typed in the special request bar, 200g as he stated not more since it wouldnt allow him and then his request would be put on trial in the GGTT Tab, You would see ''Unresponded Requests'' (not accepted/declined), ''Responded Requests in progress'' (Still to be done like: he took 200g yet he hasn't deposited all the glyphs yet) and ''Completed Requests'' (so the GM's and officers can see what he made as promised) The GM/Officer would accept it given they know the prices on materials on the Auction House otherwise decline. The person who's request was accepted now has 1 Week max. to complete that task. He will use that gold to buy the mats and when he deposits the items, since the Vault will recognize them since there would be a special tool to set the amount of gold and what exactly needs to be deposited will be recognized depending on the player. So then the player deposits those 18 Glyphs and in the log will be shown his name along with the task that was completed so he managed to do it meaning the Gm/Officers will see progress and a good cause for the guild granting respect. As GM's and Officers, accept the requests at your own risk, if someone who failed to do the request have a word with him, give him a second chance, kick him from the Guild (his loss for taking the gold) anyway, do what you think is best. So, these would be some what Trials of Trust. This new tab would benefit for Guild members increasing their potential using their proffesions and earning respect among the Guild Members. Hope it's not too complicating to understand. MORE IDEAS ADDED BELOW FROM NUMBER 14 ON, JUST LOOK FOR CURTHORUS |

Wow.... I REALLY like the Hangout idea and the Banned Bulletin Board O____O

YES!! Its exactly what our GM constantly complains that should be implemented!! Your getting a Sticky and Hug!! I hope this gets noticed /hug |

8. A guildballoon bought from the guild vendor seems like a good idea for a future companion. I like companions!
The other eight points are neither here nor there in my opinion. Most of it sounds redundant, and if I look at it from a personal viewpoint the suggestions wouldn't benefit my guild in any way. I have never experienced an issue with any of the things you have solutions for, not in the guild I am now nor in previous guilds. But if it helps someone then why not, i guess. As long as Blizzard don't spend a lot of resources on it since the issues seem quite minimal and there are other bigger things to work on that are exponentially more important. |

15. Level Related Vault Tabs Idea of Gaius - Magtheridon and Me
We have the regular tabs where you could just take items on stack depending on your rank/permission. Guild Leaders would have another more Impressive choice. You would have the choice of making the tab regular or level related. Guild Leaders can tweak it any time they want. So this is how it works. It's mainly for levelers. Say you are a level 30 Mage and you have Herbalism. - Gear: You won't be able to take any other type of gear except cloth. There would be a 10 level range so if you are level 30, you may only take Cloth gear that is for levels 25 - 35. Once you reach level 31 it's gonna be 26 - 36. - Proffesion items: Not only will this system check your level but also your proffesion and specific skill. As a Herbalist who has a skill of 400. You will only be able to pick the herbs that are Green / Yellow / Orange (Level up your Herbalism when you pick them up around the world) So at 400 skill you can only take herbs like Deadnettle for example. You CANNOT take out Cinderbloom or Peacebloom since the skill is either too low or too high to level. When you reach max (525) you will only be able to take Cataclysm herbs or well the ones that level up your say Alchemy. If you have Herbalism skill 525 and Alchemy 1, it will scale meaning you can take Cinderblooms (for herbalism) and Peaceblooms for Alchemy. If you unlearn Alchemy you won't be able to take the Peaceblooms anymore. As a Herbalist you won't be able to take any ores or gems or engineering parts etc. - Recipes / Glyphs: You will be able to take for example cooking recipes which you can learn, once you learn the recipe even though you will be skill appropriate you cannot take it since you learned it. You might think you can cheat by taking 6x of the same recipes and only then learning one, nope. Once you Withdraw one you will get a 1 week reset before you can take another copy. I'm sure the Guild Leader will notice by then so it's good just to learn it and move along. Same for Glyphs. This tab will be only for special items. You won't be able to put junk in like Tattered cloths. Only things that scale with the Level / Proffesion / Class like Gear,Proff. stuff, Potions, Food, Scrolls and other stuff. This will help out so levelers won't ninja lvl 80 blue gear, lvl 85's taking low level Ore for their alts. 16. Guild Auction House What's the difference you ask? Simple yet Impressive. There would be special NPC's near the Guild Vault or the normal Auction House guys and it would be a little different. Since there ain't gonna be 9000+ Items like the regular one, say around 100 - 200. Depends on Guild population. The interface would be similar except at the start it would be showing ALL the Auctions for you to scroll down, search by name, lowest price to highest etc. The prices would be I guess 20% lower than the ones on the AH as a discount type like Cinderblooms one stack on regular AH is 20g, on G AH it would be 15g. Even if you make it 5k a stack go ahead but it's useless since the person will buy it from regular of course. One member makes an auction and once the other one buys it the gold goes straight into the Guild Vault. What do I benefit from this? Think it like this: You deposit Herbs into the G bank for other people to help them out. Then they withdraw them and they are happy. But with the G AH the Guild gets Gold and the buyer gets what he wants. Isn't this just a wasted cycle? Like the gold he gives to the G Vault will be used on his gear repairs anyway? True, but he might buy a lot more meaning more Gold would be coming into the G Vault then coming out for repairs. What good am I doing by putting items in the G AH? You make gold for the Guild, the Member gets what he wants. It's like depositing it as you usually do except the Guild gets a few more gold. MORE IDEAS BELOW RALFIOUSES COMMENT! JUST LOOK FOR ME ( CURTHORUS ) |
You can do that through Battlenet. And I don't like the idea. Sometimes I want to be alone and quest some, I don't want the GM bugging me to come online for something, thanks. |

17. Bind on Guild items Idea of Gaius and Me
The Guild Master will also have the ability to allow other players on a certain rank to set some items ''Bind on Guild' when depositing them in the Guild Vault or the Guild Auction House. Say you have some 85 epics or maybe some stacks of Titanium. Some things that just can't give to non Guild members. Member will use certain powerful items to enhance their character but what good is it if they then leave the Guild with them. If they wanna be good in the guild they gotta keep to some rules. Say your depositing a Chest piece and marking it BoG, you can withdraw that piece but once you leave the Guild it will be automatically returned to the Guild Vault if, the vault is full, sent in game to the Guild master. If you are wearing the chest piece meaning it's now souldbound, you can keep it. If the piece you stole is worth more than being in a Guild in which you had to do hard work to get the rank of granting you the ability to take it in the first place. It's all logical. These items will have to be marked of at least superior quality (blue) in order to set them BoG. This is gonna work for the more powerful items you just don't want anyone taking them to greed and you want the people to actually use them. Now if the member takes the Chest piece he can't sell it on the AH, if he sells it to a vendor for some gold fine, next time he's gonna want to take another item to vendor the Guild Master will just go ''You already got a piece last week, wait your turn'' I'm sure there are a lot of unique ways of implementing this feature. It's main purpose is that you mark certain items that should stay in the Guild or be held by Guild Members only not anyone else outside it. 18. Improved ''Guild Info'' Idea of Zadeoc - Magtheridon and Me Most Guilds in the G info write the rules of the Guild. Like the rules of the G Vault, who to whisper if your having issues, Raid Times, who to ask for the RBG Team set up, what addons you have to have for raids etc. There would be Added panels. Like the Guild Vault tabs that are name-able, Guild Masters would make certain panels to click and when they open up, readable. There would be panels like Basic G Info like ''Welcome to our humble Guild, please take your time on reading the lower panels etc.'' ''Raiding and PvE'' You'd write which addons you must use, when raids are being held, Raid Group names of the people in them and backup members, what to bring like flasks, when HC grinds are etc. ''PvP'' Similar like the one above. ''Lore'' Guild Lore, some GM's like to make a story about the Guild and how it was formed etc. Past Events, Best Achievements, Best Players in Guild, Who sells cheap potions, Why I like Cake, GTA V coming soon.... The Guild Master can name the panes anything (of course no bad language) just like the Guild Vaults and can then write the info in them so when a curious new player wants to know what other offers it has or what goes on in the guild, he/she can just look up those panels and see. There can be a maximum of 10 panels and the amount of text in each of them will be like the amount text there is the current one just a bit more! 19. Calender events role setup Idea of Tethane - Emerald Dream Only the organizer of the event will have the ability to do this. So you make a Dragon Soul raid and invite a few people, and some more sign up willingly. The ones who have Accepted/Tentative will be tweaked by the organizer. Say there's a Priest, you click on the Priest and you will see all bosses listed and a small role check next to them. The organizer then sets which roll will the Priest be for each boss like Morchok: DPS, Spine of DW: Healer. Should be good for 25-man raiding Guilds. Another small feature is that if someone who was invited checked the event Tentative/Declined he can leave a small note blank or add a reason why that player can't/might come. You can leave the space empty, for those who will use it, it actually helps some people given the reason. 20. Guild Loans idea of Tzayain - Argent Dawn Now some guilds have been loaning money for a long time, some have found a way of sort of safe guarding the money with a small clientele and the ability to black list the said player from friendly guilds for breach of trust. Fairly simple enough Player A requests a loan for X gold from the guild bank, guild master has a ability to see the average gold earned per..day, week etc. The GM see's that the player earn's X gold a week and set's a rate of interest and a time period. The player can then accept or decline. If they accept and the players starts to earn money, a percentage delegated by the average earnings and time period he has to pay it back it will go straight out of his pocket and into the guild bank with out him noticing...Simple Also guild to guild lending, way of safeguarding this would be to take a percentage like 1-10% loan rate of the guilds total earnings. Then as more loans are successful maybe they could improve credit rating increasing the amount allowed to be loaned Safe-guarding Now there must be safe guards in order for the player to haven an insentive to earn back the money. E.g placing items as leverage until the debt is payed of delegated by the guild master and the person. If a person leaves the guild then the debt still has to be payed off, but they could have the chance to pay it off in one lump some. The leverage would still be in place. 21. Guild Quests idea of Tzayain - Argent Dawn Like the ones in Dalaran where you had to kill a boss, you'd get a special weekly Guild Quest with an objective. Like killing a certain raid/dungeon boss, killing 50x opposite faction players in BG's (honorable kills) etc. The reward would be a good amount of guild reputation. Quest would be obtained near the Guild houses in capital cities. 22. Ranked Guild Tabards idea of Tzayain - Argent Dawn So, I think there are around 10 ranks in a guild. Guild masters would be able to enable/disable this in the ''Tabard Customization'' interface and choosing the location and look of the logo. This would be like a certain rank system so players would know, what rank a person is. 23. Improved Calender options idea of Tethane - Emerald Dream and Turowai - Anachronos - Upon making an event you'd have the option to invite a bigger mass of people of the rank. Say you made an event and click ''mass invite'' --> ''by rank'' --> ''InsertRankHere'' and all the people in that rank would recieve an invite. -Events being repeated. There would be a disable option. Example: You'd set a Dragon Soul raid on saturday and set it to ''form repeated cycle'' and you could tick the months (this year) like january and march, and then, every march and january on saturdays you would see the event or just set it to every saturday (this year) from now, and the option would be to delete all the ones at once you've just set too. |
No, simply no. As Ralfious said, I don't want my guildmembers to see if I'm on an alt that's not in the guild but on the same server, simply because there would most likely be a reason for me not to have that alt in my guild. I'm an officer and sometimes I just need some "alone time", those that have me on RealID can always whisper me, but I'd like to decide myself who can see me online and who can't. Disable option, yeah might work, but as far as I know this ain't even possible for realid (which I actually miss aswell). I like the BBB idea, the recruitment tab idea, I definatly vouch big time for the guildtabard idea (i just redesigned our tabard, such a lack of choice..:< ) and yeah the balloon sounds nice, will look cool on screenshots etc ^^ |
|
|
1. Already covered by an add on called Recruitment Enchancement or something along those lines.
2. Also seems to be a good candidate for an add-on for someone to develop. 3. Absolutely no. Alts in the guild? Maybe. Other alts on the server? No. My guild has no reason to know what other characters I play, especially if I play those characters to escape for a few hours from the work of being a guild leader. If you want your friends to know every single character you play, use RealID or this new BattleTag thing when it gets released. 4. Yep, they are getting a bit dull. 5. Don't see why not. Would have liked the herald to be wearing the guild tabard as well. 6. Useful I suppose, but there are tab descriptions as well. You can easily just call them Tab 1 and write a full description for it. 7. I'd like to see more complex guild bank features, such as being able to set prices on items, ability to flag items "I want this" so an officer and review and hand it out if appropriate. The ability to set limits of withdrawl by item rather than by stack. No you *do not* need the 20 maelstrom crystals you just removed with your single daily limit. Of course I would like all these to be otional additions so guilds that don't want them can ignore them. 8. Sure why not. Would be sad seeing a grey balloon on guildless people, but I guess that could be another way to show you are looking for a new guild. 9. This sounds like add-on territory aagin. There are already some that will show guild members on the map, those that also have the add on at least, so this would be the next step on from that. |
|
|
@Willow
Thank you for your opinion =) As for 2. Yeah alts in the Guild with an option to turn it on/off, and as for the ones you mentioned regarding addons, Quest helper was an addon but then it was implemented in the Game as a real tool, same for map viewer showing what lvl each zone is so I'm sure those can be implemented as well to save the trouble |

@1: Maybe better: allow invites (or accepts to guild requests) be able to be sent to offline players!
@9: I'm sure a lot of people remember the old feature of Cartographer where you could see your guildies positions on the world map! I LOVED THAT FEATURE! But now, unfortunately, that addon has been long dead. How about we get the option to broadcast our position to the guildies and an opt-in "Guild Positioning System" that allows us to see the positions of everyone? Further sugestions: The Guild Finder UI needs /tons/ of improvements. Allow us to search by name! On a populated server with lots of guilds it's impossible to find the corect one fast. I went trough the pain of browsing trough hundreds of guilds, in the end I resorted to doing a /who guild and seeing who's online there and whispering them. Add more search parameters! Raiding by "weekends" and "weekdays" is not enough. More improvements to the Guild Log. It's impossible to see stuff like name changes, server transfers, char deletions, char suspensions (or banning from the game, whatever). "Uknown" has left the guild is not helpful. A player vanishing from the guild is the same. Allow us to see ranks and notes in the guild log! Guild Bank: the repair log should be detached from the money log. Allow better guild-news pages. How about an option to broadcast a guild-news to all members above rank X that pops on once (or until you tick a "do not show this again" option) you log on? As a GM would also be nice to know which of your players didn't read that news item. Urgent matters would be faster to communicate. |

@Znufflessd I admire your ideas and I strongly agree about upgrading the UI's, This thread should be marked Sticky because most of the ideas are just what the people want and we gotta make a Blizzard Admin see this, I support your side of the improvements as well!

Offline invites are a tricky thing. You can apply to up to 10 guilds I think it is in the Guild Finder.
So, first we need an interface that shows you all the invites you have recieved, which I guess will have to have a decay on them of something like 3-7 days, or maybe you can choose the decay when you invite them. Since this invitee might accept the invitation when no officers at all are online there needs to be a way to populate notes automatically along with the invitation, as many guilds use the public or officer note for "Invited by <name> on <date>" or something similar. You might need automatic guild ranking as well. Then you have to decide if the other invitations vanish if you accept one of them. Say you join a guild that seems nice and the guild channel is full of . . . well something you don't like. So you leave again. Do any other invites you may have recieved remain in the list? If not you have to apply again, and officers are looking at the list saying "Didn't we invite this guy already?" Many guilds don't do "spam" invites - merely clicking the apply button isn't enough to be accepted. Offline invitations are biased towards spam guilds, whereas those that like to interview people before inviting will find everyone already has invitations. So, do we have "Accepted" "Accepted for Interview" and "Declined" as the three offline options? Do we need anything else? From the applicant point of view would be nice to be able to (optionally) rank the guild choices "1st choice, 2nd choice etc." I say optionally because not everyone would want to do this. Conversely I think there should be some sort of indicator on applications to say how many guilds someone has applied to, I don't need to know which ones they are, but I am more likely to be interested in someone that only applies to my guild than someone who applies to everyone to see who says yes. I would like to be able to add more text to the guild description, the current amount is barely enough for even very basic information. I would also like to be able to add a reason when I hit the decline button rather than have to use the in-game mail every single time, applicants may not agree or accept the reason, but I think it's only fair to tell people why you said no. |

Nice thread. I'd like to see something similar to this in MoP:
Currently, there is no way to see which member contributes to a certain achievement. Take, [That's a Lot of Bait] for instance. I'd like some interface where I can see which members contributed, and how many. I reward my guild for certain achievements with a Vanity Point system (basically epgp), but for such achievements all I can do is 'take their word on it'. |
