Party at Dalaran! ORP

The mages of the Kirin Tor sure know how to throw a party, and with it being both Winters Veil and not so long after the demise of
Deathwing, there is a double reason to celebrate! The streets are alive with people drinking, singing, and partying, and up at Krasus landing someone is letting of fireworks that light up the entire sky. ******************************************************************* Meanwhile, in Orgrimmar and Stormwind, harrassed looking apprentice mages are standing next to portals to Dalaran, holding posters. The posters show Dalaran, and have the words: LOOKING FOR FUN, ENTERTAINMENT AND EXCITEMENT DURING YOUR WINTERS VEIL HOLIDAY? Then come to Dalaran, where all shops and resturants are having massive sales, and Smokeywood Pastures are giving away free foodand presents! Not only that, but all the best circuses and musicians have been hired to provide entertainment! See beautiful fireworks, gasp in amazement at magical displays, and listen to heart-warming traditional carols. The party never ends! And then in smaller print: (Party ends on January 2nd, Midnight.) Every so often, someone would wonder up to the mages, then step into the portal to join the fun ******************************************************************* Serphinia sat in the Legerdemain Lounge, idly stroking her cat and nursing a glass of Mulgore Firewhisky. She glanced around at the other patrons of the bar: most were drunk, although some, like her, were more cautious in their celebration. It's not like she had anything to celebrate, really, she thought glumly. She had been stationed in Ashenvale at the time of the fight, her tracking skills deemed unnecessary. Snorting, she took another swig of her whisky. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a party of revelers came crashing in. Serphinia glanced up, but didn't pay much attention. They could be anyone, for all she knew... ******************************************************************* OOC: The idea of this ORP is to be a little more lighthearted, at least for a little while. I set it in Dalaran so you can be anyone you want, though I'd prefer if murlocs were kept to a minimum as they have a habit of suddenly losing their heads around Serph. I intend for it to get a little action-y later on, after everyone who wants to join has settled in, maybe with a couple of cultisty types or some such trying to crash the party, or with someone trying to round up a group of adventurers. But for now, just relax and enjoy the free beer! |

Titanie was a human paladin who at that moment was supposed to be patrolling the Redridge Mountains, but had been excused from her duties to join in at the party. Usually she could be found in her mail gear and wielding a typical warrior sword, but at that current moment she had swapped her guard-like look for a black dress and was holding a glass of wine in one hand, looking nothing like she usually did.
She felt light as a feather as she swirled around the floor, dancing because she felt in the mood. Eventually she stopped, feeling dizzy and drunk, and started groping for a seat somewhere. Unfortunately for her, at that moment a large group of revelers came crashing in through the door and straight into her, sending the glass flying (and bouncing off a tauren's head before smashing to pieces on the floor) and herself straight into the floor with a WHAM!, sending her sober again but even more dizzy than she had been previously. "Wha..." was all she managed to say before she collapsed completely. ((Lolz xD)) |

Lein smiled. After returning from the Outland, where she and her daughter lived until they received a message of Deathwings demise, she was utterly happy to see the City of Mages again. It is here where her home is. It is here where her soul belongs. And so dear are the festive sights of this city...
Today, she was celebrating Winter Weil with her daughter. They were caroling, eating Gingerbread cookies, wisiting the Winter Veil tree, where Lein told her little girl about the history of this holiday - and, of course, about the Great-Father Winter, who only gives presents to good children. And, of course, the presents themselves - for her daughter there were a toy gun and a sweater, and also a copper racer - strange as it may seem for a girl, but Iliryn liked 'boy toys', preferring them to dolls; but this year Lein bought one more present - a plush dog for the baby she was expecting now, even though it would only be born towards the end of the spring. It was getting darker, and dozens of lights lit the streets of Dalaran, making them even more colourful and festive. Voices sounded, cheering, laughing and signing. Quite a time for a little dinner at some inn, so Lein and her little daughter went to the nearest of the taverns - "Legerdemain Lounge". The sorceress let the revelers go through the doors first, and then entered the inn. As she was looking for a spot, she noticed a woman lying on the floor unconscious, so Lein seated her daughter on a chair, and approached the unconscious woman. The magistrix took a small voial out of the pocket (she took it with her in case of getting sick and dizzy), leaned to the woman (as close as her baby bump allowed her to), and poured a bit of the potion in the woman's mouth. "This might help this poor girl..." |
Titanie's eyes opened and she scrambled to her feet, staggering a little with how dizzy she felt. The first person she noticed was a blood elf woman, who must've woken her up.
"Whoah... thanks." she said almost normally. She quickly raced off to get another glass of wine, this time very weak stuff. |

Thererian was sitting by him self at the far back of Legerdemain Lounge quitley while reading a book and occasionally taken sips of the drink he had got from the bar looking up as he seen a figure racing off to the bar.

"What the...!" Cried Serphinia as the glass ricochet off her head and bounced to the floor. She turned around with a glare, ready to deliver a proper tongue lashing to the culprit when she noticed the human woman lying on the floor. Forgetting her aggravation, she hurried over to her side, reaching her at the same time as the Blood Elf and offering a very similar looking vial. After all, it was the season of goodwill. Soon, the woman was racing off to get another glass of wine, and Serphinia looked up to the blood elf woman. "Merry Winterveil" she said, trying hard to be festive.
((Depending on whether or not we get anymore people, I might introduce some adventure type thing soon!)) |
Lein smiled at both the human girl and the taureness who helped the girl almost in the same way the sorceress just did.
- Merry Winter Veil to you both! - she said as she slowly got up, rubbing her belly as she felt the baby kicking inside her. She then approachen the innkeeper and ordered some food for her and her daughter, and seeing that aa the tabless were already taken, she called her little girl to come to her, and they both approached the table where the taureness sat. - Exuse me, but may we join you? - Lein asked the taureness, - All the free tables are taken, and we have nowhere to sit and dine at. |
"Of course, go ahead." Serphinia replied. She smiled at the little girl, and dug in one of her many pockets and pulled out a piece of candy for the little girl. "May I? She asked the blood elf woman, then proffered the candy without waiting for a reply. "My name is Serphinia. Pleased to meet you!" She seemed to have cheered up in the presence of the child.
Titanie came downstairs from putting on her usual gear after getting some wine, looking just the same as if she hadn't have fallen over. Her sword was in its usual place, sheathed by her side, and her tabard showed off the colours of the Alliance. She saw the blood elf and tauren who had helped her earlier, and made her way over to them.
"I must say, thank you again for helping me out back there. Merry Winter's Veil by the way!" she said with a smile. "My name's Titanie. What's yours?" Titanie asked them both. |
Looking up at the cheerful voice, Serphinia tried to hide her irritation at being addressed by the human. "Merry Wintersveil. My name is Serphinia. I'll guess you'll want to pull up a seat as well?" She grinned at the last sentence to soften to rough tone of her words.
********************************************************************* Meanwhile, in the Underbelly, two shady figures were discussing something. "She'll be an easy target, in her condition." "And look at her clothes. Must be rich!" "Aye, she'll pay a pretty penny to get her child back!" "So it's agreed then. We will target the blood elf, snatch the kid, and scarper before anyone realizes whats happened. Then, we'll hole up somewhere and send out notes!" With that, the two figures headed out of the sewers to mingle in the crowd of revelers. ((Lein, hope you don't mind this attempted kidnapping! If you do, then I'll just play it out as failing miserably and leave it at that :) )) |
Titanie just grinned back, which meant yes. She sat down and sipped a bit of the wine she had bought, her mind wandering into random thoughts and eventually coming to her cousins over in Gilneas. She longed to see them, but at this current time she was too busy...
She became aware of her surroundings again and decided to spark up some talk. "This party's a bit wild, isn't it?" she asked. ((Short posts because there's not much I can usually think of in terms of continuation.)) |
((Aye, that's why I'm trying to introduce kidnappings and stuff!))
"Hmm...I guess. Certainly entertaining!" Serph mumbled in reply. Just then, the door opened again and two people, both dressed in black, entered. They were staggering as if drunk, so Serphinia didn't pay much attention. |
Threrian closed his book while he was putting it into his pack the two strangers dressed in black caught his attention and mumbled to him self "a bit of an odd colour to be wearing for this celebration"
Titanie glanced at the new arrivals in black suspiciously; it seemed strange to wear that colour for a party, but then again, she reminded herself, she'd been wearing a black dress earlier. Her hand moved to her sword hilt anyway, just incase.
"Those two over there in black seem a bit..." she trailed off, lost in thought. |

Shayraa Keyaar was sat at a shady corner of the "Legerdemain Lounge" alone. Not because she was unsociable or unpopular, but because she had scattered across her table various engineering parts, ranging to exhaust pipes to screwdrivers.
She sighed and for the first time in the last few hours she looked away from her tangled mess of wires, and she pulled her goggles down so they hung loosely around her neck. So far the Draenei had missed most of the revelry in the tavern, lost in her own world of mechanical wonderment, and she was surprised to see it now so packed full of people. Shay pulled off her cloth gloves and rolled up the sleeves of her tunic before proceeding to (without any care or attention) scoop all of the different tools and materials off of the table and into her toolbox. After securing the beaten metal box with a secure looking padlock, she stood, and stretched her arms, blinking hard to get used to the lighting. Before she'd even moved away from the table partygoers had literally pushed her away, sitting and dealing cards to one another. She stumbled backwards and feel to the floor "What's the use of a tail if it won't balance you" she grumbled as she stood quickly, hoping this fall hadn't been seen. It was now that the drunken pair entered and they went unnoticed by Shayraa as she straightened her tunic and her new pirate-style brown boots, muttering all the while about how people were unable to not pour their drinks all over the floor, and how the beer stains would be near-impossible to remove. |

Ags had been working late and when passing by the Lounge on her way home she'd decided to stop for a glass of wine and maybe a chat with someone interesting.
Fat chance ... She looked at the two stuggering drunkards in black that had entered right before her and sighed silently. What a pair. Not exactly the kind of people she'd been hoping to meet this festive evening. She bought a her wine and looked around in the room for somewhere nice to sit. She saw a little party made up of a Tauren, a human that was warily moving her hand to her swordhilt and a elf blonde with a cute small bloodelf girl beside her. There was also a bookish elf man and a smart looking dranei that seemed to work at engineering of all things. Not able to decide she just stood there, and lost herself in thoughts and memories. She had started to become such a recluse and was seldom leaving the tower nowadays. Magic and the hardships of several wars had begun to take it's toll after all these years. It was there at all times like an invisible veil of tiredness, dampening her a bit, making her feeling numb. It had been so very different once upon a time ... memories ... her mind jumped to the black cat that had been following her around back then ... my cat, my cat, where did you go ... |

Slowly, and carefully, trying not to attach very much attention by acting drunk and merry the two black-dressed people moved their way towards the party of Tauren, Human and Blood elf. One stopped by Agastache and dipped her hand towards a pocket, hoping to come away with a prize. The other made his way closer to the table, then began an array of small magical tricks and juggling. When the bored blood elf girl looked up, he caught her eye and winked, then upped his juggling by adding another ball. Soon, the girl was entranced, not paying any attention to her mother and inching towards the man.
********************************************************************* Serphinia, now paying much more attention to her surroundings and chatting merrily to Titanie and the Blood Elf, looked up at the pair of drunkards again, just in time to see one try and pick another human's pocket. Startled, she let out a shout: "Hey! What are you doing? Put that back!" hoping to attract the attention of the distracted human before the thief made off with her purse. ((Short post to try give Agastache a reason to come sit with us! Looks like we will have quite a party to attempt a rescue, though the Hordies may feel outnumbered :D)) |

(Hi, sorry I haven't written anything for a while - was celebrating :) )
- Thank you, - Lein smiled, taking a seat near the taureness, and, when the taureness offered a candy to the girl, added, - Sure thing - my little girl likes sweets so much, she'll be happy to have some. Iliryn snatched the candy from the hand of the taureness's hand and started to nibble it, smiling happily and looking at the people who were in the tavern. It was so bringt and noisy and very interesting for the little girl... Lein patted her daughter's head and turned to the taureness - and to the human girl whom she woke up earlier. - It's a pleasure to meet you, - the sorceress said, - My name is Lein Sunsword, and I'm a magistrix of the Kirin Tor. She smiled to them, and sipped a bit of the hot tea she bought. - And the party is really a little bit too noisy, - she agreed with Titanie, - Not exactly the thing I would like for now, but my daughter seems to like it. She shrugged and glanced at the entrance - two people in black just came in. But as it was time when half the city wore some costumes, the magistrix just assumed they wore ninja costumes or something like that, and returned to her food. and her company. - Are you going to stay in Dalaran for some days, or just leave after the party? - she asked both Serphinia and Titanie, just to make a conversation going. ______________________________________ Meanwhile, Iliryn moved a bit closer to the funny man who did all those interesting tricks. The girl was curious, and her mommy wasn't watching her, so she slipped from her chair unnoticed; her amber eyes stared at the balls, not seeing anything else. _________________________________________ - Hey! What are you doing? Put that back! - Lein heard the taureness shouting and turned in the direstion she pointed. She saw one of the men in black, trying to pickpocket a woman. - Stop, you thief! - she shouted, and got up, but almost immediately after that she had to sit back down, as the baby seemingly woke up and began to fidget. - There, there, little one, - she whispered, patting her belly, - Everything is all right. Don't worry... - and she turned to Serphinia and Titanie, - You have to call the guard, I guess... |
"Well, I was supposed to be on guard duty in Redridge, but they let me off for the time being. I'm mostly busy anyway," Titanie answered before drinking more of the wine. She still felt suspicious about the people in black, but she didn't let it bother her for the time being; after all, it was a party.
