ive never watched it, my friend recommended I read the books first, just started the second one and I do enjoy it, not as good as the dragonballz books but its defiantly a good read :)

Finished watching 2 hours ago.
As far as I can remember, this is the only anime series (movies don't count) where nothing in it has made me want to turn the show off and be ashamed of myself for watching even once. Except for the last episode, but by then I figured I was almost done anyway. |

Ha! So true :P Death Note definitly seems targeted at a more adult audience than most other anime/manga, which is nice :) It's definitly one of my favorite anime series I think. |

I've read the manga, haven't seen the anime but had it explained a LOT to me. If you haven't read/seen it, don't read the rest of my post and just READ IT!
From what I hear, the manga isn't as "ornamentated" as the Anime, but I prefer that style myself. It makes it very realistic (or at least as realistic as the setting can be). The first manga I read that actually seemed like it could have happened. As for the story, it's superb. Since the spoiler about L is here, all I'll say is that.... Well, it's far different afterwards. L is the personification of "Justice" in DN, at least the "at any cost" kind. Sochiro is more the old-fashioned "with rights" kind. After L (which occurs around the midpoint) the story is less "good vs evil" and more "everyone is corrupted, which corruption will work out"... Which gets subverted at the end but I won't say why :P |

The anime is the best one I've ever watched. I never liked Near/Mello, but it's still very good. There is a very good movie adaption that has changed the story line a bit to include L to the end and I really recommend that you watch it if you liked the anime/manga:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758742/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810827/ L in those movies were amazing, perhaps even more amazing than he was in the anime/manga. |

I watched the Anime series, and have them all in a nice little Box Set, with a concept art book (it was a gift).
To be honest I liked it a lot, I thought it was very gripping but I thought it got a bit crap after L. The L vs Light battle was one of the best things i've ever seen in any series of anything ever, and kept me watching it for hours on end, was just a shame when that was over - as I felt that was the entire story to me. After that I lost interest, and by the final episode I was quite bored. |

I've only watched the animes. Two times and I love it! It gets a little boring in the middle, but catches up again :)
I'm gonna read the manga sometime to. I think they havee it at the library. |

really good one..a separate kind of anime

Death Note is one of my favourite series, but I think it could have done without the Yotsuba group arc, as it got a bit dragged out, but all in all, it's a fantastic series, and I read Bakuman afterwards (written by the same people) and loved it!

I found it enjoyable. My sister, who hates anime, told me that she found it to be more like an animated drama and therefore bearable to watch.
My other sister who watched and read it preferred reading the manga. I've only seen the anime so I'm just going to trust her on that the books are better, but it's something I won't be reading for a long while (still chugging few a few thick books I recently picked up.) |
