Exotic Satchel of Mysteries worth it?
|
|
Just saw a thread with the tanks asking if the satchels are worth it - do you as a healer think they're worth it?
Personally, I think that they're a nice little thing to get for taking on a bit more challenging role of dungeons. A epic pet dropped the other day, whereas I'm still uncertain to sell it or keep it. Nonetheless, do tell what you think of them. :) Thanks! |

Why shouldn't it? It's fairly easy to carry even the worst groups nowadays as a well geared up healer. (with a few exceptions on some bosses) and you practically get an extra average of like 70g(total of 150g for one heroic) and also something small or big depending on your luck.
It's a nice bonus,I just wonder why it stopped popping up after 4.3. I must have seen 1 or 2 times for healers since the patch. |

It's a nice bonus. I still do heroics without it, so it's not like I need that to keep me going.
Though.. 3 Mythical Healing potions 3 times in a row feels abit of a let down. At least gimme mana pots ;) |

I never run dungeons alone since I've been playing with a friend for 4 years now and his company is worth many times any pet.
I'm afraid I'm one less for blizzard's randomizing machine. |

I never run dungeons alone since I've been playing with a friend for 4 years now and his company is worth many times any pet. I had that with a mage friend of mine. Although he has quit now. They should allow 2-man groups to be elligible for them at least. :< |

Blizzard doesn't encourage things done with friends in wow, or generally making friends.
All they care about is their shiny randomising tools to be used by as many as possible, so it proves their point of being a success. There was nothing more sad than seeing guild tanks after they implemented this not asking about hc runs in guild anymore so they can farm satchels. I don't mean to criticize the system of satchels or LFD, its an old dead beaten horse. It made things simpler, and it works. This game will live on a long time, if only on the inertia of what it used to be. There is this fair yearly in my town, and because of my mother, I end up visiting it every year. She likes traditional things and the fair has a lot of pottery - clay made one. She keeps buying stuff - for her and for me, some usable normally and some just for decoration. After 10 years on dusting pottery and books and all sorts of souvenirs, I ended up appreciating a room with minimum needed to be comfortable. I bought myself an e-reader, and look suspiciously at any temptation of piling up garbage in the form of a collection or another. Therefor, I don't collect mounts, pets or achievements :D. My priest has, however, about 70 robes collected over the years, which seems to reflect my wardrobe irl :(. Well, one cant be perfect? |

Blizzard doesn't encourage things done with friends in wow, or generally making friends. They should have waited with x-realm until they had the Battle tag ready, or thought (hah!) about the consequences of lfd and thus the need for one before they implemented x-realm. Not being able to friend without giving my real identity (because I don't want to give my real identity to someone I've played with for half an hour tyvm) to good players on other realms has been painful when I know there's little to no chance of being able to group up with them again. Hopefully Battle tag will make our friends lists big and strong for grouping again and perhaps, just perhaps, it enables community moderation, as hoodlooms won't get befriended. Being a cynic I also fear many players may not care anymore, and will continue to run lfd as before it comes out. I ended up appreciating a room with minimum needed to be comfortable Coming from a maximalist mum as well, I could head in that direction as well. But noooo. I am in fear of becoming featured on those hoarder shows in 40 years....Old wire? That'll come in handy someday! /stuffs into tool box |
Agree with this, but I'm sharing your cynical pov: I think the cat is out already and after 3 years (?) or random stuff, ppl just dont care anymore. Sadly, the only guaranteed thing to drive players in one direction or another is a reward. |

Sadly, the only guaranteed thing to drive players in one direction or another is a reward. Well, that goes for most of us I think, just to different extents. I'm not still killing stuff in Nagrand just because I like the zone, but because I still lack the last battle talbuk ;) |

I wouldn't bother chasing bags as a healer. The potential of slow groups is too great, and there's not much you can do about it. On my tanking alt(s) I can set the pace myself, and if the healer ends up being useless it's easier to convince the group to replace them than to replace the tank. As a tank I can also deal at least some damage, so if I get one of those heroic groups with three DPS who do 5k each, at least I know things will die eventually. As a healer you run the risk of being grouped with four people who are entirely incapable of killing things.

Yes they give me a bit of extra gold and i got a epic mount too :)

I got a blue drake from it the other day, nothing special but a pleasant surprise.

SINCE March last year I have received two tings of value.
Swift White hawktrider (kaelthas) and Warlords Reigns (druid mount) So that its enough for me |

I haven't seen an available Satchel as a healer since 4.2 released (was it really 4.2 that this was introduced? Seems not that long ago). I haven't seen it as a tank either, for a couple of weeks.
But they are quite nice to get, would definitely say healing or tanking is worth it. |

Having more than 1 tank really makes it hax imo, I farmed my valor on 2 tanks and I got so much rewards, I got a emerald whelpling today and I hope it sells (on AH for 6k atm).

I love them!
Hoping for Deathcharger since I cannot be bothered to run strat... It just got so tedious after a while. And while I'm waiting (and it will be a long wait... low drop chances ftl!) I get loads of awesome pets, useful flasks, random gems, gold... and kinda crappy potions. The satchels for healers do seem to have become rarer, I put it down to new content which was released. It doesn't pop that much for tanks either. |

You get a nice bit of xtra gold and the chance to get some exotic mount, flask or somethign else that you may or may not want/already-have.
Personally I never PuG unless i'm going to get one, but my history with the RNG machine isn't great and I normally end up with a flask of strength or a pet I already have :) |

Thanks everyone for your responses - glad to see that you enjoy them as much as I do! :)
