Alliance vs. Horde WAR GAME ANYONE?
|
Hey people!
This is all ooc, Im wondering if there would be anyone interested to have an RP war game Alliance vs. Horde? Its a rough idea because until it gets some attention it doesnt make sense to go into details. We could fight anywhere where Horde and Alliance forces clash in game. Would need to decide on many details like rules of engagement, etc etc. I know my guild and a couple of others would be likely interested in taking part, how about others? Dont be shy poeple just post if youre interested or have any suggestions about it. :) |

Hey everyone, thanks for your interest and replies! :)
How would we go about organising it? 1 - COMMUNICATION First we need to get some people interested on both sides and each side will need count how many people are there who would participate, and I think best that eash side sets up a chat channel to gather all interested and prepare to it ooc. Anyway, we need to think about some possible settings for it. I think that whatever we decide on, it will be either a skirmish battle somewhere in the field or a defence/attack of a particular location. 2 - CONTEXT/STORY Ofcourse we can, and should, give it some story to put it in context such as eg. alliance/horde town X calls for aid because of the enemy attacks, and then lets say the forces coming to aid it get attacked on their way, or they come and defend at certain location. The possibilities depend on what we really want to do, and how many people both sides will be able to have for it. Im sure starting with something relatively small is a better idea than planning a huge battle at the start. 3 - LOCATION Because it would be an rp war game, the levels of characters are not necessarily a problem. For the same reason I think we could consider to place it in some lower level zone, like southern barrens, or any other contested territory where there is ongoing alliance vs. horde struggle. 4 - RULES OF ENGAGEMENT Then we need to agree on the rules, because for example things like ganking or normal pvp are out of the question. The point would ofcourse not be killing the enemy faction members asap, so we need to prepare some good rules before any encounter. Imagine that we decide on making phases for every encounter, like for example: - ranged only (phase 1) Both sides shoot to eachother, dont shoot to kill. Bombs and flares are being thrown in the middle of it, etc. Players are restricted within certain perimeters. - melee skirmishing (phase 2) Both sides begin fighting eachother in melee, not killing players if they want to withdraw to a 'safe' perimeter to recover (we should decide on some safe zones where people can pull back and not be attacked) I think recovering players should wait for a specific time before they return to fighting. - killing field (phase 3) Players can fight and kill eachother within certain "kill zone". Everyone can withdraw, but this time when withdrawing they are not permitted to return to combat. We need the rules who wins and who loses, and some basic idea of how to decide the winer and loser. Fighting with normal weapons could be possible but then a lvl 85 char cant be fighting some lvl 35 or whatever because would just one-hit it and thats not the point. I think it will be more epic if we decide on some really rudimentary weapons that deal little damage, and perhaps only allow the leaders or officers on both sides to be geared better. As you can see there are quite a few points to consider and discuss so please post your ideas and opinions. :) Edit: Oh yeah, and because we need some rules, we also need some people to make sure that the rules are being followed by each of the sides. So on each side there needs to be at least one person monitoring the participants, telling them what is allowed and what is not, cooling down hot heads not to go rampaging etc. |

Hey everyone, thanks for your interest and replies! :)How would we go about organising it? Urm, I'll give my two cents here. Its PvP. You won't find that much structure in a random War Games group. We rarely have that much structure in our RBG practises/simulations. EDIT: Oh, this is RP/PvP. I'll leave this then. |
