HHello, I'm kind of new in this game, I only played like 3 months, but without farming :)
Look, my favorite class in a lot of games is Hunter, so my first character was Hunter, you can look on my profile.

Now, I read in the forum about the class, PvE and PvP, and all the time players in the game and my friends tell me that the Hunter class is a hard class, you need to be good in this class, I mean professional to be effective. So they recommended to me to open other character before Hunter and learn about the game and etc.

So I wanted to ask you, why this is a very hard class? and why I can't to deal with it as the first character in the game? And how can I learn how to use it like a professional, and etc.

Please if you can, send here good guides about Hunter, PvE and PvP, i don't know already which Hunter it will be :)
And if you can give me tips, or very helpful things that I need to know.

Thanks for help guys :)

I usually hear the opposite. "Hunter is easy noob" or something along those lines. I tend to lean towards the notion that Hunter is "easy to learn, hard to master". I have recently leveled my hunter also, I had triple exp through the recruit a friend thing and soared to 85 in a few days, so I didn't get a full learning curve of the class.
After some normal and Heroic Cata instances and some PvP I have to say I am loving playing a Hunter. It is definitely a fun class to play both PvE and PvP. I personally love the utility that MM Hunter have available, CC chains in PvP are pretty satisfying when pulled off.
I wouldn't be scared of trying out Hunter as your first class. Do what you enjoy and if you enjoy hunter, you will no doubt want to learn everything there is to learn about playing the class.
I think the key thing to have set up with a hunter is good, comfortable key bindings so you can easily silence or trap an enemy etc.
Nobody is gonna be a pro as soon as they hit 85.. Imo the game starts at 85. You can only get better with practice so I suggest you work on that Hunter!

No class is hard. Hunter is a little challenging to play because it doesn't have all the tools in order to succeed in PVP, like a decent self heal or on command burst etc.

If you are aiming to do PVE, Hunter is actually very easy to play, simple rotation and all.

Okay thanks for the fast reply :)
I'll keep it up.

So what do you think? I should do PvE hunter as a first Hunter or try PvP ?

In addition I have a Death Knight, I playing with it only because my friends and it will be PvE DK for DPS.

Depends and what you like to do. For me i love to do PVP on any character regardless of whether im a healer or DPS. Warrior was my main untill i played hunter because i love it so much in PVP. I love to run away from people whilst they take my arrow's the their knee's.

Okay, apparently I will get level 85 first, and then I will choose.

And can you please explain me how it goes all this PvP points and PvE points ?

I mean, I always see players level 85 with items level 385+, and I wondered how they get all this equipment ? My friends told me that its from PvE/PvP points, so I just needto play Arena's/Dungeons/Raids for those points and I will be able to buy this equipment's ?
And when I will be level 85 from quests, how can I buy a starting gear to starting earn's points from PvE/PvP ?

And it is really matter how I will get level 85? if it will be from quests, dungeons, raids or this kind of stuff?

PvE points are called justice points, you can buy good PvE gear with these.

You can also convert these into honour points which are the PvP points.

Honour you can get from battlegrounds.

But PvP pints called Conquest Points no ?
And how can I know which start gear should I buy with gold before I start earning those points?

conquest points are from arena and rated battlegrounds and there is a limit to how much you can get per week.

Honour points you can get as many as you can perk week and you buy illevel 390 epic gear with that.

You can buy the vicious crafted blue gear (ilevel 377) from leatherworkers if they have the patterns but they aren't that cheap.

So what is more effective? Honor Points or Conquest Points? Which should I earn ?

when you first start arena/rated bg you can only get 1650 conquest points per week.

you can get unlimited honour points every week.

I think you can understand which is more effective.

I'll explain it to you easier..

- Lets for example say those points you'r talking about have a difficulty and reward lvl

level 1 being the easier one and level 2 being the one thats harder to obtain although gives the best gear at the moment.

- Justice pionts(PvE) and Honour points(PvP) are Level 1 points. These are obtained easily by pvping in a battleground or doing a dungeon.
> Justice points can be obtained by killing bosses in dungeons and completing those dungeons gives you a bigger justice point reward.

You can buy PvE gear with it. At this moment the tier gear that was valor in the last patch is buy-able with justice points.

Justice points are blue marks.

> Honour points can be obtained very easily by qeueing for a battleground and winning these or doing objectives in PvP.

You can buy PvP gear with these points. At this moment the gear that could be bought with conquest points in patch 4.2 can be bought with honour points in 4.3 making it an easy obtainable set.

Honour points are grey lions for Alliance and Red horde signs for the Horde.

- Valor points(PvE) and Conquest points (PvP) Are the harder obtainable points. They give better rewards and the newest available in this patch. Although these points have a weekly cap. Meaning that you can obtain for example 1000 valor points a week.

> Valor points can be obtained by completing heroic dungeons or killing bosses in raids. These are easier to obtained as the succes rate is alot higher.

You can buy the newest PvE gear with these points.

> Conquest points are the harder points to obtain in WoW. These points can be obtained by winning arena's against skilled players or doing a rated-battleground against skilled players. You will need to set up an team before joining any of these. These two give you the maximum amount of conquest points. Or you could also win your battlegrounds and obtain 50 conquest each win. (or 100 if you haven't done the daily)

Conquest points give you the best gear obtainable at this patch and also has a weekly cap of 1650 points. You can get 1500 by doing arena and rated-battlegrounds or get the 1650 by winning battlegrounds ofcourse.

Remember that the Level 1 points: Justice and Honour are easier to obtain and give good gear for the more casual player. Whilst Valor and conquest are more for the player that dedicates time in WoW and plays it on a more competitive level.

Ignore things like you should get conquest from your friends. It's more important to get those honour points since its easier and faster to get. Also it doesnt have a cap just like Justice points.

I hope this helps you!

Here's the thing about PvP'ing as a Hunter.

Chose a spec, for a beginner I'd recommend BM:
This spec is extremely easy to play, but that doesnt mean it's good.
In arena with any decent combo and team mates, you will be able to easily reach 2k rating, as a beginner.
However, there are downsides to playing BM. You are very limited with what you can do, and as you progress further up the ladders, people will know and find it easy to counter you.
You will eventually reach a point where you cant really do anything, due to the very limited arsenal of abilities you are given.

Anyhow, BM is a nice way to get used to the basics of PvP'ing as a Hunter. You will know when you are ready to be a little more advanced and spec into MM.

Hope this helps.

Lovelylady: I don't agree with you, I think that the best spec for hunters is Marksmanship, but nevermind thanks for trying helping me.

Amann: Okay, I read what you wrote, but what do you think I should do? learn about the game and about the class and basically about tactics and etc..?
And all this while I'm doing rated-battlegrounds ? because I understood that I can earn Conquest Points only from Arena, and Arena is for expert players...
So that's what you mean ?

50 conquest points for each win on random bg
100 conquest points every day for victory on random bg or call to arms bg
180 conquest for win on arena
400 conquest for win in rated bg

you don't need to be an expert to go to arenas and win several matches to earn 1650 weekly conquest cap. You need to be good only if you want to raise this conquest cap higher than basic 1650

Sure, if you feel comfortable with MM as a beginner, then go for it. It is by far the best spec anyway, as I clearly stated in my other post.
Just saying, BM is what i'd recommend to a BEGINNER

But yeah, whatever suits you the best. Good luck.

To put what he said into tiny words:

BM = 7 buttions

MM = 50 buttions

(at a minimum rate of playing arena at 1800-2k~)

And to try to explain why the Hunter class is harder then most of the other classes in PvP:

Because you have to use more buttions/abilitys to manage what other classes do with 1.
Having to work to get what you want out of that move.
Also having a unique playstyle compare to any class ingame in Arena.

An example, you want to root a melee target:

What a mage do: Frost Nova when he's in range.

What a hunter do: Put a snake/ice trap down and try to move so that the melee runs into it.

Another example: You want to CC a target:

What a mage do: Click sheep, mayby fake cast.

What a warlock do: Click Fear, mayby fake cast.

What a hunter do: Click trap launcher, scatter/bad manner the target out of sight of his team members so that they cannot eat it or slow/root them to cover it or coordinate a CC with ur team members, then launche the trap. (also Hunter's Mark the trap target if there's a SP around.)

To them haters who wanna argue about this:

Freezing trap got a CD, if it gets eaten, its "wasted".

If you dont land the sheep, you recast it.

LyKKeh where are the 50 button of the MM? And what BM only 7 buttons? I play both and i have more buttons (1 or 2 more)than in MM...don't forget whe have BW, Focus Fire and Fervor..and MM Chimera and Readiness...you have silence shot BM have intimidation..so where are that difference of 43 buttons???? Can you explain that? And mostly the time in MM you don't use kill command, and BM really need use that, so that it's simmilar in button too Aimed Shot, and this last shot in pvp in mostly cases you don't use cause have a long cast time and you can't shot if you move.
