She lived in Windrunner spire in a village bearing her family name, When she was ready Sylvanas joined the rangers of Quel'thalas and eventually worked her way up to becoming their leader. During the second war the high elves sent minimal supports to the alliance of lordaeron Sylvanas' older sister Alleria took it upon herself and brought a squad of rangers to southshore to aid the alliance as she saw the orc's as a threat towards Quel'thalas. Soon after Alleria's departure the forests of Quel'thalas started to burn Sylvanas at this time Ranger general set out with her followers to discover the causes during this exploration she discovered both her sisters Alleria and Vereesa being chased by forest trolls whom were destroyed quickly, Alleria alerted Sylvanas of the on coming orcish invasion of Quel'thalas, the orcs who were begining to burn the elvish forest's with dragon fire were quickly discovered and a battle began, Sylvanas and her rangers moved quickly to encounter the horde and trap them between them and the alliance forces, the battle took many twists but in the end the horde abandoned the attack on Quel'thalas Sylvanas stayed behind to dispatch any remaining orc's while her sisters left soon after the horde was defeated and the dark portal destroyed ending the second war. |

The high elves withdrew themselves from the alliance, The forest faced few threats , the odd murloc or gnoll now and again but sylvanas remained vigilant knowing however that peace however refreshing was tenuous at best.
Her fears were soon realised with the coming of arthas and the scourge invasion of Quel'thalas Arthas the betrayer of his kingdom has arrived with a mass army of undead behind him, his aim to revive the fallen necromancer Kel'thuzad in the blessed waters of the sunwell, He began attacking the villages of Quel'thalas sylvanas and her rangers immediately set out to stop him his mass numbers and tireless soldiers kept Sylvanas in a constant state of retreat. Arthas continued towards the elfgates brutally massacring all elves in his way despite the topmost efforts of Sylvanas and her rangers he breached the outer elfgate to silvermoon, Sylvanas ordered all to fall back to the inner elfgate only accessible with a special key ( the key of three moons ) made from moon crystals hidden in the forest, Sylvanas destroyed the bridge leading to the inner elfgate in order to disrupt arthas' efforts, Despite the noble work of Sylvanas and her rangers Arthas' obtained the key nothing stood between him and Silvemoon. Sylvanas gather her rangers and headed off to warn Silvermoon but Arthas blocked her at every turn, and murdered all her runners. Sylvanas continued defending her homeland but eventually Arthas headed after her personally. She battled Arthas valiantly but in the end she was struck with a mighty blow ending her life. |

Strangely Arthas' blow didn't end her life, Sylvanas was captured bearly clinging to life, She was brought before arthas in his dark temple. She exclaimed to him that she deserved a clean death. But having to fight her at every step of his endeavor Arthas replied by telling her after all she had put him through the last thing he would give her is the peace of death. She was tortured mutilated and finally killed by Arthas for his sick pleasure. He violated her spirit warped it bringing her back as a whirlwind of torment and hatred. And therefore Sylvanas became the first of the High elven banshees. Sylvanas was a complete slave to the lich king, in her death she had no choice but to aid Arthas on his attack on her own home, when arthas reached the border between Quel'thalas mainland and the Isle of Quel'Danas Sylvanas gave a chuckle having not lost her elvish mind her body may he been a slave to the lich king but her mind wasn't she laughed at him saying his plot was over but the death knight gave a devilish smile drew frostmourne and froze the water between the Island and mainland ice so strong the scourges mighty constructs could even walk on.
Sylvanas became one of Arthas' primary generals and she remained behind in lordaeron under the watchful eyes of the dreadlords. When Archimonde was defeated at Hyjal Sylvanas learned quickly of the news from Kel'thuzad . |

When the weakend Ner'zhul began to lose control of the minds of sylvanas and a number of banshees, She kept this discovery from Arthas and Kel'thuzad, The dreadlords contacted Sylvanas and explained they knew her cause and arranged a secret meeting with her they told her Ner'zhul and Arthas' powers were begining to diminish, the dreadlords intended on using this as an opportunity to take over lordaeron, Sylvanas tentatively agreed to assist but only on the condition her aid was on her rules.
The dreadlords planned on killing Arthas within capital city but Sylvanas arranged another plan suspecting this one would fail she would have her banshee sisters fein an alliance with him and escort him to a place within the woods. A place where Sylvanas would be waiting on him. Arthas survived the dreadlords attack and the banshees loyal to Sylvanas saw him to the arranged place and killed his bodyguards, Sylvanas at this had regained her body using her own powers, she was now a corperal undead creature hiding within the shadows she struck him with a special arrow intended to paralyse him, Arthas was furious at her betrayal and demanded she finish him, to which she replied '' A quick death? like the one you gave me im going to make you suffer, give my regards to hell you son of a *beep* , at which point Kel'thuzad intervened killing her banshees and chasing her off. Back in her physical body she realised the natural world to which she had so much affinity for while she was a ranger no longer replied to her angered at this she began a new teaching and then the dark rangers were born. Arthas left for Northrend, having been summoned by the Lich King, and Kel'Thuzad went into hiding. Sylvanas and her sisters were freed, but Sylvanas was still troubled. Though free from Ner'zhul, she and the other free-willed loyalists remained monstrous abominations in appearance. Her thoughts were interrupted as Varimathras arrived on the scene. The dreadlord invited the banshee to join him and his brothers in their new order. But Sylvanas was not so quick to relinquish what freedom she had just gained. She told him that her assistance was enough, and demanded to be left alone. Varimathras ominously warned that those who were not part of this new land would be cast aside, and that she had best not vex the new rulers of the Plaguelands. Sylvanas was adamant. As Varimathras departed, Sylvanas knew that an attack was imminent. But with only her banshees and some lesser undead to serve for her, Sylvanas was certain that she would soon fall. She needed to acquire an army. Scouting the outer wilderness, Sylvanas found a plethora of creatures who would serve her well, and with her banshees at her disposal, they would have little choice in the matter. She sent out her banshees to possess Mug'thol, the leader of the local ogres, the Bandit Lord, Blackthorn, the gnoll ruler, Snarlmane, and the Murloc Puddle Lord. Those she did not possess were killed. With so many new allies, Varimathras was quick to fall before her. But after she defeated him, Varimathras begged for his life, saying that he could serve her well. He knew his brothers' tactics, and where their bases were located. Sylvanas knew trusting such an insidious creature was a risk, but felt that she could control him enough for her purposes. With Varimathras' assistance, they moved against Detheroc's forces. Detheroc had acquired a human puppet, Garithos, and his men, and was using them to protect himself. Sylvanas had his scouts possessed, and then infiltrated his base while their guard was down. As they slept, Sylvanas swept through the twin bases and slaughtered any before her. Though they eventually awoke and raised the alarm, it was too late. Sylvanas disabled the humans and ravaged Detheroc's forces, eventually coming to the dreadlord himself, and killing him swiftly. With the dreadlord dead, Garithos was freed from his mental control. Sylvanas saw him as arrogant and foolish, but felt that she could use him. She lied and promised to relinquish control of the Capital to him if he helped her kill Balnazzar |

Garithos attacked from the rear entrance to the city as Sylvanas and Varimathras came from the front. As they moved into the city, Sylvanas found caches of items left by the Lordaeron royals, and used them to further the assault. Despite the dreadlord's demonic allies, his forces were destroyed, and, as a final test of loyalty, Sylvanas demanded that Varimathras kill Balnazzar. Varimathras froze, saying that it was forbidden for one Nathrezim to kill another. But she required Varimathras to prove his loyalty to her. Varimathras obeyed, and struck down Balnazzar. However, whether by accident or design, Balnazzar survived, later re-emerging as a leader of the Scarlet Crusade. Varimathras was not so reluctant when Sylvanas ordered him to do the same to Garithos.
With all their enemies dead, Sylvanas made a proclamation to Varimathras. They would rule the Plaguelands as the Forsaken, and would stake out their own destiny, where none would get in their way. Interestingly, reports say Sylvanas moves to and from Northrend; it's unknown if she is scouting for a possible attack on the Lich King, or if she has darker plans. There are rumors that Lady Sylvanas Windrunner is setting up a Forsaken city up there somewhere. In any case, she remains an enigmatic figure her motivations unknown even to her most trusted advisers. Even in death Sylvanas considered herself a protector of Quel'thalas and repeatedly offered assistance to the blood elves, feeling she failed to protect them during the scourge invasion, the blood elves declined most of her offers fearing a trick, but eventually the elves decided to allow her to station forsaken troops within sin'dorei land, Sylvanas was a huge part in what got the blood elves accepted into the horde. |

In northrend the forsaken settlement of new agamand plays home to the royal apothecary society who are testing out a method to destroy the scourge... *cough* Plague
Sylvanas has been seeing over the development of the plague to unleash upon the undead for many years. When the horde and alliance gathered for an attack on angathar the wrathgate an uprising broke up through the undercity varimathras and his demonic brethern took over the city, slaying all those who wouldn't submit to their dark rule, Sylvanas herself nearly dying in the coup but managed to escape with a number of loyalists to orgrimmar. Determind not to allow demons a foothold in horde territory Thrall and Sylvanas prepared immediate counter-attack, In the middle of their planning Jaina Proudmoore appeared bearing terrible news, Grand Apothecary Putress had unleashed the plague not only on the scourge but on the horde and alliance aswell many heros were lost because of this more alliance men were killed than scourge. Jaina bore the news that Varian Wyrnn was outraged at the loss of Bolvar Fordragon, and had planned a full scale attack on the undercity to bring Putress to justice and liberate Lordaeron. Sylvanas returned to Undercity at the head of the horde army determind to retake her city along with Vol'jin and Thrall she begun the retaking of her city A cry for her people upon her lips in the throne room Sylvanas fought and slew varitmathras retaking her throne, but the events of the wrathgate have left her and the apothecary society under the watchful eye of the Kor'kron. Sylvanas lead the horde forces into the frozen halls, discovering the Lich King's private sanctum the halls of reflection there she battled the Lich King himself and came to the conclusion that the Lich King strength was too amense and if he was to be defeated an army would be required... *Sylvanas wasn't present at the frozen throne at the time of the Lich Kings death though it can be assumed she was in icecrown citadel due to the shadowmourne end quest * I've included the dialouge from the quest Blood of Sylvanas should anyone be intrested Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: So, it is done. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: I had not dared to trust my senses - too many times has the Lich King made me to be a fool. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: Finally, he has been made to pay for the atrocities he imposed upon my people. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: May Azeroth never fail to remember the terrible price we paid for our weakness... for our pride. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: But what now, hero? What of those freed from his grasp, but still shackled to their mortal coils? Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: Leave me. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: I have much to ponder. |

Some information for this paragraph is from sylvanas' leader story edge of night avaiable of this site :)
After the death of Arthas, Sylvanas ventured on her own to the frozen throne. Angered at the fact she wasn't there to witness his fall she took solace in the fact the work she had begun in the lush forests of Quel'thalas was done, Arthas was dead. Sylvanas approached the throne at the top and she could see a figure incased within she noticed and alliance emblem on his shoulder, Sylvanas raged at this fact * Im not gonna say why read the story it's brilliant there is something really intresting about arthas' spirit * BUT SPOILER! She struck the frozen throne causing a crack in the ice.. Agree with me this has potential With her life and undeath's goals complete. Sylvanas could think only of the bright fate that had awaited her before Arthas tore out her soul and prepared to hurl herself from the citadel onto the saronite spikes below, the only thing capable of destroying her completely. As she contemplated the end of her long journey, nine val'kyr encircled her, granting her visions of her past. Sylvanas ignored them, and hurled herself off the Frozen Throne. Sylvanas saw vision of her peoples' future. Without her leadership, the bulk of the Forsaken were sacrificed by Garrosh Hellscream in a failed assault on Gilneas. At the Bulwark, Apothecary Lydon organizes a last, desperate counterattack against the invading Alliance forces. As the tide turned against them, the Forsaken threw themselves into raging fires rather than face the onslaught to come. As the vision ended, Sylvanas found herself floating in a dark void, where she knew only terror, cold, hopelessness, fear, and regret. She also ran into the ghost of Arthas and was surprised to find that all he was at this point was a frightened and lonely little boy. Looking at the man who had inflicted such torment, Sylvanas admitted that had her soul not been broken she may have actually felt pity for him despite what he had done to her. As she realized that this realm of anguish was to be her eternity, the val'kyr appeared to her again. Led by Annhylde the Caller, they offered the Dark Lady a pact: instead of allowing Sylvanas to reside eternally in this terrifying realm, Annhylde offered to take her place if she binds herself to the remaining val'kyr; a powerful vessel through which they can continue to exist as more than slaves, their fates intertwined. Sylvanas accepted the pact, and was returned to the realm of the living surrounded by the eight remaining val'kyr. Sylvanas returned to Silverpine Forest, where Garrosh was leading the assault on Gilneas, and stated that the invasion would be carried out her way; Garrosh begrudgingly accepted, and Sylvanas ordered her fleet around to the southern coast to harass the villages and split Gilneas's defenders. Reflecting on what she had been through, Sylvanas realized that her people were no longer simply arrows in her quiver, but an important resource that would not be squandered. Sylvanas revived lord crowley and his followers and used there knowledge against the gilneans until he betrayed her and killed her the val'kyr sacrifice thereselves to revive her, She states she saw only darkness It is at this point sylvanas realises the Val'kyr are the future for her people. |

I love Sylvanas, and this was fun to read!
|

Just a shame that your targets, the people who do not care about the storyline, do not visit the story forum.
:) Otherwise, a decent write. |
|
|
You forgot to make one about Vereesa.
|
|
What we really want to know is what will Alleria do when she finds out whats become of her beloved sister Sylvanas?
She has to return first (and we all know how over due that is). However sometime in the future (maybe 2 more expansions?) I predict they will meet, have words and then fight.Possibly Alleria killing Sylvanas (and giving her the kind of epic death she deserves) and being absolutely heartbroken. Great post Ellie. :) |

You should post this in general, since most people don't read this forum...if they don't enjoy the story :|
|
|

Sylvanas is more powerful than Alleria. She's a banshee afterall, that combined with her ranger skills. She could gut both Alleria and Vereesa easily. |

You know he actually created her. Anyway, she's terrible and deserves to die. Nobody wants to hear of her. Better not mention her again... |
