Got abuse for dual wielding when tanking. (blood dk)
|
|
Hello,
Today on a Zul'Aman run I got abuse for using dual wieldng but a rogue and healer who just joined the group after the other two spots were vacant because of one dc/er and one guy who just left after a particular item did not drop. Now I had no trouble with threat at all and I managed to properly enchant, it's not like where a warrior/paladin can be without a shield when taking.. but more then there is nothing better than my current weapons outside of the new heroics. After been given a load of abuse I left in frustration but then queus are instant for me, he'll have to wait 10 minutes. |

Well, Blood tanking wasn't exactly designed to be done as a dualwielder, but with some alterations to the specs I suppose you could make it work. Just be prepared to be the unique duck in the pond, it'll also probably be met with alot of disbelief and possibly abuse.

Since you are dual-wielding two BS crafted items, you might as well get a 2Her crafted instead and save yourself some abuse, no ?
Like http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/item/70172 for example. |

Well I don't plan to do raid finder as a dw blood dk but threat is already ridiculous, that argumentate simply is not valid.

Since you are dual-wielding two BS crafted items, you might as well get a 2Her crafted instead and save yourself some abuse, no ? Because I don't feel the need, I wanted weapons that can fit my purpose.. ie tank adequately and dps. |

For the record: your argument is not valid, either.
You are taking anecdotal evidence ("my threat is fine") and excuses ("I have no other options at this level") to justify your reason for wanting to dual-wield tank. And you're still missing out on stats. If you compare the two weapons you're using with the one I linked for a moment, like so: http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=70158:70158;70164 You will see the 2Her wins on base stats. Even with all that hit from both weapons, your off-hand still does 50% of its weapon damage, and you will still be missing a lot of your attacks. You picked two runeforges with stats that can also be found in one runeforge for a 2Her, so you're not gaining any survival benefit there either, which used to be one of the prime reasons for wanting to dual-wield tank. Your tanking will not be adequate, you will do about 10% less threat than someone using the 2Her. Your DPS will not be adequate either because you do not have enough hit. |

For the record: your argument is not valid, either. Not adequate? I've found it plenty adequate with the content I've been doing, the same goes for my damage output and survivability. Also considering heroics mostly consists of tanking multiple mobs that becomes a non issue since dd never misses, and death strike always heals you regardless if you hit the target or not. I've found myself topping the meters constantly.. so if that's not 'adequate' then I don't know what the hell is. Now as I said before, I would never dream of entering a raid as a MT with this sort of setup but in 5 mans it's served me well so far. But again I choose those weapons because: a. I always have available weapons were I to go to frost. b. The stat gain is negligible and besides that weapon is ugly as sin. But once I enter ET heroics then I'll be going for the 2H mace that drops there. Thank you and goodnight. |

I can't see the issue with that at all! Just stick your shield to your 2H. |

I got semi abused for wanting to tank a random heroic as arms... People these days *raises fist in anger have fun however you see fit, so long as you dont do anything that has a chance of failure. because then you might be stepping on other peoples fun etc. |

I'd be more worried about all that PvP gear to be honest.
|
|
|
Well, I'm not using it as a free entry pass into the raid finder. When reforged these items are a lot better than items you find in the normal heroics. |

Well.. actually they are not. Here is the comparison of the things you have and things you can get on normal heroics(346 blues with only the crafted belt added because it costs less that what you spen already for the pvp ones..) http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=75126.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.161:75135:75136.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.140:75119.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.161:75122.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.154:75123.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.154;56308.0.0.0.52215.52231.0.0.128:57873.0.0.0.52294.52215.0.0.161:56318.0.0.0.52215.0.0.0.135:56428.0.0.0.52215.0.0.0.128:55059.0.0.0.52231:56283.0.0.0.52219.52215 you loose 125 Mastery (0.7) 589 Dodge (3.33%) 570 Parry (3.23%) 9 Sockets and the 2% armor from the meta gem to gain: 533 Sta 748 Str 1375 Armor 78 Expertise (2.6) 240 Haste (1.87%) 75 Hit (0.62%) There is no way this trade is worth it survivability wise |
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I... That's brilliant! brb shieldstorming |
|
You purposefully lower your dps, threat and survivability and you expect to get no abuse about it?
Good luck <.< |
|
I've not gotten abused whilst tanking the love dungeon as ret.
:) |
|
|
You purposefully lower your dps, threat and survivability and you expect to get no abuse about it? Since when was threat hard to get? Besides how'd you figure my survivability would be worse off? |

For being such a smartass you sure know little about tanking, stat priority and survivability. Just equip some PvE gear and wipe off that ridiculous make-up you're wearing. |

i'll just drop this here
