Power Torrent vs Heartsong

Lately ive seen some healers change from Power Torrent to Heartsong. Is heartsong better?

Generally I believe the following;
Holy Paladins : Heartsong Disc Priests: Power Torrent Holy Priests: Heartsong Resto Shammies: Heartsong Resto Druids: Power Torrent Having said that in all cases you could use the other one and probably still be fine. The reason that Heartsong is prefered by so many is basically because of the up time. You are looking at a 60% up time on it and at all times that you aren't at 100% mana you will be benefiting from it. On the other hand you have Power Torrent which has closer to a 20% up time and you won't always benefit from it. Whilst Power Torrent can be really useful when it procs at the right times, it isn't too often that it will. I personally consider reliability a strong element in my choice to use Heartsong. I will always be benefiting from having more mana regen and said mana regen happens often, but I won't always benefit from the increased Intellect and it doesn't happen as often. |

Power Torrent: Basicly is the same as hearthsong but not as good, due intellect now also increases your regen slightly. But it can also be great to time you mana cd's when you get a proc. (It has a 45 sec internal cd) Preferely I'd say it's the most useless for resto shammies due the fact that their mana cd is the only one that's a spirit increaser, the others are just % of mana you regain.
Heartsong: I used it when I was worse geared but over the time when you gear up it will become less usefull so there's no real need for it anymore due your normal mana regen should be good enough. Still you can use it, but I preferely go for torrent. |

Power Torrent: Better for classes using mana regeneration mechanics which scale with mana pool size (Innervate [druid], Rapture [disc priest])
Heartsong: Better for overall regeneration and gains perks from holy paladin/holy priest (30% additional regeneration from spirit while in combat) and resto shaman (mana tide). |

I'm pretty sure I had read somewhere that Power Torrent is better even for mana regen for Disc, HPala and Rdruid.
Power Torrent is recommended however for all classes, because with the exception of a few cases, the last tier is all about output. |

In Cataclysm primary stats are King. Red gems and intellect enchants everywhere. You can get your mana elsewhere.

Holy Paladins : Heartsong Time Divine Plea with Power Torrent and you're generally wasting the extra int if you're taking Heartsong as holy pala (even with the Judgements of the Pure change.) Holy priest: same thing here. blood elf racials/shadow fiends do them during a PT proc. Resto Shammies: heartsong totally useless as they've got too much regen already. You'd want throughoutput. Basically all healers need Power Torrent end of story. Then again if you're totally struggling timing this !@#$ you could go for Heartsong even though it's statistically a worse enchant due to the facts stated above. healing power+through output vs through output = choose the first |

You say timing Sayaki, but waiting for PT to proc when innervate or DP is off cooldown can be a mana loss as well. Generally you want to use those spells on CD unless PT is literally a few seconds off.

I agree with this, there is no point waiting around for the proc if mana is needed there and then. Which makes it far better to take heartsong, because it will benefit you more throughout the fight, giving you greater mana back. However, i don't have mana issues, and its increases my output having PT, simply due to the increase spell power. So, i think its preference to be honest, depends on gear and game style, not the class itself. |

Intellect is still your main stat as holy so power torrent > heartsong. The amount of mana you'd probs get back from a heartsong wouldn't be that worth it anyway, you might aswell just farm heart of Unliving which as holy is very easy to keep at 10 stacks.
10 stacks from heart of unliving is around 1k per 5 seconds combat regen, with fairly decent gear and the set bonus then you really won't need much more spirit. |

Also 500 intellect = bigger heals = less healing to do = more mana. Not to mention if you decide you need to SF and hymn and your PT proccs you get even higher mana return.
My opinion really but power torrent gives so many different benefits that i would prefer it over heartsong anyday. |

I agree with many of the posts above except the one about Resto Shamans having huge mana regen already, which is true only and only if one goes the Telluric Current build. Believe it or not, yes, non-TC is also viable, for which Heartsong can be better because:

I accept Heartsong has an ICD, but it has to be buggy in concert with something I can do. I had it proc again during it's duration, frequently.

Spirit is never a bad thing. For holy priest it's like an air for the a human - you don't mine if you take deep breath. While intelect may go wasted when proc not in the right time, spirit do only one thing and it is not wasted.
MTT increases your spirit, so PT is worthless there. PS. We love you, shamans :P |

SPIRIT.........IS............USELESS............... Unless there is a talent supporting it!
(shadow priest , holy palas , balance droods =hit rating) and only than it should be stacked just enough to COVER THAT HIT CAP. so far REPLENISHMENT gives up to 70% OF OUR TOTAL MANA REGEN ! ...making it better to stack Intelect (not to mention spell power). |
