What is it with DKs and deathgrip?
|
|
Whenever there's a DK in the group he/she'll spam DK on anything that moves and a lot of the time they'll then blame me for loseing aggro on the mobs they deathgrip. Is it just me are at low level most DKs are just annoying in dungeons?

They are annoying in the dungeons.
Just ignore them and leave them to the mob, if you get a healer that doesnt like it they will die. Just walk off when that happens and leave them there, it's not as if you can't 4 man the dungeons. NOTE: there are some nice DKs, these will deathgrip caster mobs you haven't established aggro on yet (these mobs hit the healer), do not rage at these and just taunt the mob off them after as they are deathgripping to help. |

At low level, we are mostly talking about inexperienced death knights with no knowledge of their spells in a group setting, and thus no knowledge of the taunt component of Death Grip.
Not much you can do about it, just don't let the resulting abuse get to you ^^ |

If the DK isn't Gripping a ranged/caster to you in order to spare the grief of going to fetch or getting it off the healer, you're better off leaving it hitting him.
Otherwise they just won't learn, players doing that is what started the Death Knoob moniker. |
At low level, we are mostly talking about inexperienced death knights with no knowledge of their spells in a group setting, and thus no knowledge of the taunt component of Death Grip. A L60 dk is like a L15 paladin or warrior and should be treated as equally - as someone new to the class trying new spells with fresh eyes and enthusiasm. IT will settle down later on :) |

Because it is a freaking cool skill and when you have just rolled a DK you can't help yourself. Mind you at level 60+ you have just rolled a DK.

Because when u start out as a dk its the first spell on your bars....

Don't worry, haters gonna hate... Most annoying ones are these who pull a lot of mobs so I can't catch them all before monsters get to puller and he flames on my 'weak aggro holding' afterwards...

Step 1) Stop caring.
Step 2) Realize you are better than them. Step 3) Let them die and get on with your life. We can't cater for all the bad players, it would be a full time job. |

Hello m8
So same problem here Both are in lvl for BC dungeons. I see it too, they are new to class so still trying to find their way of dps. So just ignore them, they are plate dps so can handle hits esspecialy in bc or wotlk. Just enjoy your game charge around and improve yourself for cata. There in heroics this wont happen so relax and good leveling for you. |

Hello fellow tanks.
I meet with this problem too. Although you seem to have this problem only in low level instances, but i don`t think its a problem only there. I have 4 tanking characters, so i`m tanking a lot of new heroics now days, to cap valor points on them. And i have to say, i meet a death knight death gripping or using army of death in every second instance approximately. On top of that these people rarely pull their weight either with the dps they are doing. As i read through the answers above i find it a bit funny though. From my experience its not really possible to let anyone die in instances now. Especially if the healer in the group is not communicating with you directly and healing the person, since overaggroing one mob wont kill anyone sadly. I wish it would be as it was in tbc when you could just let the mob hit the overaggroer/taunter once or twice and they were dead. But its not the case now. Biggest problem with not taunting back is that you risking a full wipe of a group, and that never ends with the overaggroing person being harrased for doing it extra hard for the tank. It always ends "TANK YOU NOOB". My advice is to ask nicely first, may be linking "taunt" to them and explaining that if they want to tank, they should go as a tank. If they dont reply at all, which happens most of the time, or wont stop doing it, i mostly just leave the group. Even a 30 minute deserter debuff is better then having your game destroyed by ignorant people. And a advice for blizz how to fix this problem? Make deathgrip taunt only in blood presence. Scrap army of death. Its a useless skill that doesnt have any application in the game other then dps death knights making it impossible for tanks to tank some bosses/trash groups. And the last one. Give oneshoting mobs back. If people will get oneshoted after deathgripping or overagroing they will stop to think about it eventually. As it is now, there is absolutely no reason, other then being nice, to not to taunt or use army of death for them. |

Lets hope blizzard makes a glyph that removes the taunt from deathgrip. Would be nice if you ask me.

I just use meh death grip on casters.
No one complaints. |
Yes yes, like in reality , you grip someone and it still focus the tank, it rly does make sense don't you think? |
The problem being unless the glyph is equipped by default it would not help against the problem is the OP is facing. As these Dks that use it on everything would not have bought a glyph to remove the taunt. |

How about a blood spec passive ability that give Death grip the taunt, frost + unholy just get the pull.
Gorefiend's Grasp and Ursol's Vortex, oh. |

I was in on of the Hellfire`s happily dpsing on my dk, turned around to see 2 anfry mobs pounding the healer while the tank merrily tanked his mob.
"What to do??" Well i DG`d one and taunted the other to help our beloved healer and ofc i got the usual "OMFG DK NOOB STOP DG YOU NOOB!!!11" Before i could type a reply (yeah i know - slow typer) the healer piped in gently asking the tank to start tanking. I always felt a little guilty when playing my dk, always trying hard to be a good dk to not get stamped with the "death knoob" When i levelled my resto shammy i once got grouped up with no less than FOUR dk`s, all in frost presence (which was the tanking one back then) all gripping furiously and all "tanking" in their own corner. It was a nightmare, mobs flying all over and me reduced to tears of frustration. I somehow managed to stop them and asked "Who is the tank" and one said "umm...me" "Right, you into frost presence, all others something else, and i don`t care what you do as long as you`re doing it stacking on tank" After that it was a breeze, just spamming tank with chain healz :D |
