Question about shadow priest PvE Professions
|
|
Greetings,
I write today becuase I should probably be thinking about changing my professions by now. I current have Herbalism and Alchemy, which I'm aware isn't top notch for PvE I was wondering if it's worth changing Herbalism for Enchanting? I consider Lifeblood to be quite strong, but I'm not sure how it compares to the extra intellect from ring enchants. Alchemy I will change in the near future but this is my current issue. :) Thanks in advance :) |

A 450 haste buff on a 2 minute CD is not to be sniffed at, especially for a Spriest. However, the +80 int on enchanting is better. I would personally go for Tailoring + Enchanting/Blacksmithing/engineering/inscription for professions. The reason why you want Tailoring is for the Lightweave enchant, which is much stronger than the Power Torrent, plus it stacks with it, giving your dots an insane dps boost. The other professions all give a +80 int buff in one way or another, so it doesn't really matter which one you choose.

Any gathering profession is subpar, no matter what class/spec (mining is ok for tanks tho).
Any other primary profession are pretty much equal in effectiveness. Alchemy gives 80+ primary stat (int in your case) through Mixology, which is shows when you use a flask (using a relevant example), your flask provides 300int, mixology buffs it to 380int. At other times you got your inexhaustible 80stat flask so you arent at a disadvantage while not using a flask. At the moment however we are at an weird spot. Blacksmithing is currently the best due to epic gems (50+50) instead of 80 as the others. JC is the worst as their 'superior' gems only provide a 51stat increase over epic gems (no better versions for JC have yet surfaced). Engineering is potentially superior or on par with everything else as Synapse springs gives you 80int on average but can be synced with cooldowns or other procs for increased value. Tailoring gives Lightweave enchant which is probably superior to everything but maybe BS but is a proc and unreliable, but gains value if you use it properly. Enchanting is simply +80 stats from ring enchants. Same with Inscription. If I could choose freely it would be either BS, Engi or Tailoring atm. BS has a passively edge atm due to epic gems but its not sure if it will stay that way. Tailor often syncs good with Power Torrent and other procs you have. Engineering can be synced with almost everything ever if you track ICD on procs and the like. |

If you wanna do some higher end raiding i would reccomend alchemy.
Mixology increases effects on flasks and elixirs. It's unique in the sense that you can have more resistances by using prismatic elixir. You'll find that, on progression fights, a battle elixir(usually mastery) with prismatic guardian elixir is the way to go. As for the second proffesion,it remains open for interpretation.I personally like herbalism because it gives one more dps cooldown.Even if it averages out lower than other bonuses, it's still a dps(or healing if you spec into it) boost when you need it. |

Thank you all for your replies, certainly gave me some stuff to think about over the next few days :)
appreciate it very much! |
strange progression you have ;) at least in our guild dps have never been taking elixiers in cataclysm. i still like alchemy though, it saves 50% flask cost. |
