Edit: Was faulty cooling fan on GFX card

Hi

Very recently I've been having a lot of issues with FPS (previously thought might have been BT lag, but that seems clear by other users now, and my world ms is fine).

I've had a read through the other posts recently relating to FPS drops, but most link to a new install on an old machine, or a newly built machine etc.

My WoW has been playing fine for probably over a year, good framerate etc and no issues with new patch updates. Oldish system but plays all my games perfectly fine. Last week while in game, my game began suddenly lagging beyond playability. Machine restarted, router rebooted, network connections reset, speed (up/down) test etc didn't help, and it seemed to clear up on the same day as it started, also the same day users reported issues and same day resolve with BT.

The issue has started again tonight with no other users appearing to report issues, so wondering if its something else. If I shut down the game entirely then it plays fine for approx 30sec - 1 min, then suddenly hits down to 4fps. All addons have been disabled - no change, GFX drivers updated - no change, WoW cache deleted - no change.

Anyone have any clue to this?

I've posted the Dx info below. Ignore the memory, Its a 4GB system - I was switching cards out to see if it was a memory fault.

Insufficient.

Please pull your WTF and Interface folders out of the WoW directory, then test the game. The folders will be automatically created with default values; this is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try when I'm home. Assumed addons were not loaded up if they were disabled.

Still no change. Folders specified deleted, minor update and was in game for less than 30 seconds. Interestingly I hadn't noticed before, it also lags at character selection screen when I log out.

Additional notes:
Keeping char logged in, the fps issue subsides after about 3 minutes and comes back again after approx 30 seconds

Edit:
Selected startup disabled, no change.

Further update:
Downloaded the game on my laptop to completely rule out connection issues (Other than my laptop is wireless and my PC via cable). Laptop plays without loss of FPS, so as a last resort, uninstalled wow from my PC and removed registry traces. Rebooted and doing a clean download and install.

Installation complete, and did the exact same.

Were some updates applied while the servers were active last week or something?

Saw through another thread via google that someone had heating issues, so used the HD Monitor (or something - temp monitor). My GFX card was running at 98 degrees, ramping to 110 with wow. Checked it out and the fan is not working. Highly suspect that could be the issue. Will update once i've confirmed.
