Feral druid talent question
|
|
So I finally start to understand this game and my class better and now I have a question about feral druid talents.
I ytubed feral pvp videos and mostly all of them were in cat form. Since I dont like resto druid nor I like balance druid, I came up with an idea to learn all the necessary talents I need ONLY for cat form in primary talent page and all the necessary talents for tanking as a bear in secondary page. Yes, I was watching some of druid player profiles and I see that most of them usually take secondary balance or resto while making feral druid talents kinda hybrid. So, is this a good idea for someone like me? U can see my cat talent build here - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/tool/talent-calculator#Uc01!!ShkYeZhTgVZ!bYZ And my bear talent build here - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/tool/talent-calculator#Uc01!!SbbSeQhTbYW!bYZ I like the Fury Swipes talent on the cat and Thic Hide talent on bear, but I cant rly combine them together, so I came up with this idea. Please leave ur opinion on these builds, ty. :) |

Is this for pure Cat DPS and Bear tanking in PvE? Your Cat build is largely fine, but you want to drop the 2 points in Primal Madness (it's not actually a DPS gain to us it, the talent is wholly DPS-neutral and it would only be of benefit on one fight (H Spine)) and max out Blood in the Water. You could then take a point out of Infected Wounds and max out Feral Aggression so you can get +10% FB damage and instantly get 3 stacks of Faerie Fire onto your target.
For your Bear build, you could again drop the points in Primal Madness (it's even less useful to Bears than Cats as rage is never limited in current content), Nurturing Instincts (as it only affects Cat form) and Master Shapeshifter to take 3/3 Fury Swipes and 2/2 points Endless Carnage; FS is a big source of threat and damage for Bears, and in T13 you can see crits upwards of 50k, while EC is really useful for maintaining your Pulverize buff. If you're going for a PvP build, I'd recommend something like http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/tool/talent-calculator#Uc01!!ShbSeQhZhYZ!bY, which gives you the majority of tools for both specs – the defensive talents for Bear and the majority of offensive Cat talents with the exception of MSS, Fury Swipes and BitW. |

You can actually run a hybrid spec that will do fine for both dps and tanking in PvE as Feral. Even the gearing isn't as bad now if you opt for a mastery heavy stamina tank build (i.e. use Mastery as your preferred tanking stat which fits in with your dps preference and swap helm, trinkets and relic to give more stamina, gemming red in every socket possible). The stamina increase also means your self heals are slightly bigger and you can absorb magic damage better which can't be mitigated in other ways. Dodge is still favoured as tanking talents but Mastery and Stamina works better than ever none the less.
The hybrid build would be something like: http://www.wowhead.com/talent#0ZfMGcou0zrfkMcu You can run this with a selection of glyphs but it's best to swap glyphs in and out for your chosen role at the time (carry plenty of dust with you). For a pure dps build you can swap things around a little but much is the same. http://www.wowhead.com/talent#0ZfbGfRzrkbfzMcz For me Primal Madness is an infuriating talent which more often than not messes up my attack "rotation" since the extra energy always seems to fall off just as I need to use an attack and it feels like an eterity to wait for that energy to come back. Feral Aggression is also in my opinion a slightly wasted talent set given how rarely you will use FB (only really worth taking if you have the Tier-13 bonus to allow Blood in the Water to effect targets below 60% health rather than just 25%). Nurturing Instinct is again a bit crap other than to give your Tranquility a little bit more Oomph when called for but for raiding you won't be using a great deal of this. Brutal Impact is also a bit /meh if you already have an interrupter along. So these talents are all very minimal and very few will effect your actual dps output on fights, hence why it's so easy to justify a hybrid build. For your Kitteh build there is no sense in only taking 1/2 in BitW since you won't use it often enough to warrant risking a 50% success rate - this has to be 100% (i.e. 2/2) if you take it or don't bother with it at all. Infected Wounds is not needed for PvE, it's more a tanking talent or a PvP one. If you aren't tanking then you don't need this as the tanks will inevitably have a similar talent themselves. As I mentioned, once you get the Tier bonus you will want 2/2 in BitW and 2/2 in Feral Agression and it will make a big difference to overall dps output (although granted not as much as we hope for given many of the fight mechanics). Your tanking build also needs a tweak. if you are running a dedicated tanking spec then you absolutely must have Perseverance given the amount of magic damage in this tier. It will make a huge difference to total damage take in the course of a long fight. Nurturing Instinct is wasted as a tank since you won't have much luxury in ever being able to use it - you need to come out of bear to use it and that leave you open to being one-shotted if you mistime it...very dangerous and not worth doing...if your healers can't keep everyone alive then it is not your fault as the tank (your responsibility is to ensure YOU don't die and not worry about healing the raid). Lastly, Endless Carnage is a must have for bears given how much mitigation SD gives and the longer Pulverize is up the more crit you have and the better uptime SD will have and therefore the less overall damage you will take. Hope that helps. |
