Dispels will have 8 sec CD

Today i realised that Dispels like Cleanse, Purify Spirit e.t.c. will have 8 second Cooldown in MoP....So why do they put a CD on these spells??? I have not understand the reason why the do that....

The reason is right there, in the CD: To make them less spammable.

They want to make dispels a choice, but in the end it will be a root/CC fest and games will be won depending on who has dispel up. If you ask me, that's taking the game to a even more lowly level than it currently is. So RNG wins depending on dispels? Sounds fine to me. (sarcasm)

Hmmm this change sounds nice actually, it will force ferals etc to have to dispel things themselves as well as the healer doing it meaning higher skill cap since you will have to think if it's worth using your healers 8s dispel on your debuff.
Root/cc will probably be getting a nerf, looking at the new MOP talent trees it seems the case anyway. Not sure how this will work for PVE though, perhaps most bosses will now make you have to make a choice who to save from death or who you think can pop a CD and take the damage till you can dispel again. |

I suspect we'll just have bosses use only 2-5 debuffs on random raid members, not the entire raid. |

Yes, only now a single dispel will remove all applicable effects (at least the Shammy dispel reads like that). I.e.: I could dispel 3 Warlock DoTs + 1 Pet effect + 1 Curse + 1 Bane all in one cast. |

And that makes the CD very short for that, locks are gonna hate it :oOhh. No more dispel spamming for you. Heh, my Chains of Ice just smiled. |

I suspect long-term we're in for more "strategic" debuffing/dispelling. Meaning pricey and CD-based debuffs with long effect durations, and CD-based dispels which purge all applicable effects.
I mean, imagine a world in which you could only Polymorph once every 30s, it lasts 45s even in PvP, the trinket had a once-per-combat limitation (with additionally a 70y-clear radius, so Vanish doesn't help), and dispels a 20s CD. Yes you could dispel every Polymorph early, but is it worth it, considering it's probably the only dispel your 3v3 team has in the next 20s? (random, made-up numbers to illustrate the point!) |

Yeh, i have to admit i don't really know how locks work so that was abit invalid. But ye as Carrigan say with strategic stuff, that sound really nice and as fire mages doesn't have to rely on so much debuffs to make a combustion in 5.0 i guess other DoT classes will get simillar changes.

Well Dispel Spamming is true. But in my opinion 8 second Cd is abit to much... I think a 3-5 sec Cd would be much better. Btw i hope this change wont destroy our dispel playstyle.

I would like to know how they will end up with this change in pve. If it will be like previous expansions these talents and changes will launch roughtly a month before the new expansion in 5.0.
With a 8 sec cd on dispells some of the current encounters will not just be alot harder but close to impossible. Can think of two encounters that will be affected right out of my sleeve. First is Sinestra, wrack will be impossible to control. The other one is Zon'ozz where his shadow he put on people will be a bit harder to manage with a dispell can be on cooldown :/ |

So resto druids won't be pwned in PVP, because their hots can be mass dispelled, and only be left with long healing casts, without being able to dispell others.
