Guild wars 2 Argent dawn

Now as the beta videos have started to flow to the internet, appropriate topic atleast for me.
Will you play it? What do you like about it the most? What you don't like about it, and why? Opinions in general, discuss! |

Will i play it, yes. its not subscription based so well worth the purchase imo.
What i like most -> the dynamic quest system what i dont like -> the lack of gear progression. (Need some form of progression) I will still be playing wow as my main thing, but definetly interested to see what they come up with. Not holding my breath. It wont be the second coming of christ in the form of a video game. But it may be enjoyable. |

I'm going to play it, aye. I love the way it looks, the way the combat seems awesome and the scale; it's done really well. I don't know if I'll like the area phasing, but we'll see.
Most of my thoughts can be attributed to this rather awesome video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBC_ig73aMs Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3uMlHSbPSY&feature=relmfu |

Yes, hoping it will actually manage to gather a good RP community so I can get out of here.

Well, thank god they announced awhile back that yes, custom emotes are in the game.
And the cities are absolutely MASSIVE, great places to rp. So thought I'd show these cities and the areas surrounding them First is the human capital of Divinity's Reach http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hbv8WoBbC8&feature=relmfu The steam-punky capital of the charr, with an strict military rule insipred by the Roman Empire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJlf3eGypPQ The city of the norn , Hoelbrak( alot of pretty snowy areas too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQF9FlWxL7c Rata Sum, in my opinion the most impressive of the cities. This is the home of the Asura http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sRnae8mzC8 The Grove, birthplace of the Sylvari. http://www.youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=/watch%3Fv%3DXS97IqqCqYw And last but no means least, the place where all races come together, the pirate city of Lion's arch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMapXNm0j2Y I'm so excited ^_^ |

Not that there are MANY Guild Wars Roleplaying sites yet.
http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/ - might be worth registering onto in advance. Seeming there won't be RP servers sadly enough, there will be needed OOC communication to pick the server people will be playing on! Anyhow, yes I'm hyped. Specially after reading and viewing some of this stuff. http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/press-closed-beta-test-t27964.html |

I like it, except for the steampunk. But I've been playing another steampunk game (this) for a good amount of years. So guess I'll live, now. Give Human RP.

I want this very much and Guild Wars has the potential for some really interesting RP, however based on how GW1 worked its doubtful RP will be that possible unless they make some radical changes to how the chat works and introduce dedicated RP servers. |
|
|
Now here is a game that I'm looking forward too.
Gameplay looks fun and you don't need to worry about other players hoovering up all the mobs cause Bob knows that happens to me a lot in wow. Plan to roll an Asura warrior! |

They did imply a costume /e channel if that takes some of your worries away Kalaryia! Or at least that promise has been made.
Yet A-net ain't convinced making dedicated RP servers, they don't want their playerbase to split up. Though it -might- still change. |

I'm not going to get my hopes up. Pretty much every MMORPG in recent years has seemed awesome at first glance and then ended up as a bitter disappointment about a month or so after the official launch. For all the flaws WoW has, I find myself crawling back simply because it still has many of the features required for role-play and immersion.
Maybe Guild Wars 2 will be different, but people have said the exact same thing about Rift, Aion and SWTOR. When it comes right down to it, we need to see an MMORPG that actually considers RP and immersion to be an important element of the game and not just a niche. |

I just have images of Guild Wars one. Imagine RPing in a major city on that.
/s Player A: Hello /s Player B: How are you /s Player C: WTS UNDED MINIPETS!!!!! Thats my main concern really, there was no real range on the /s if you was in the same zone you could hear it even if you was theoretically miles away, and furthermore non-rpers have no respect for RPers and really it would be unfair for RPers to expect non-rpers to clear out the chat channels for them. The only real soloution in Guild Wars 1 was to make a party and go into a open zone but even then both the game and chat mechanics made it annoying. |
Given that in Guild Wars 1 "Roleplaying" meant the "level your character to from 1-20 in the not-quite single player story" I seriously doubt Guild Wars 2 will be any better. |

If the role-play doesn't live up I can always go back to wow because no subscription! But, I have a feeling we'll find a way. But it looks like a awesome game that gives me tingles.
