Hi I'm getting a new mouse tommorow, and this mouse is able to record what you do and set up macros...Is this allowed for casting spells in WoW? Somebody said no, but I am not sure since there is a macro option in the interface?
(it would only be used record spells/autocast spells when asked too) |

It's not ok to make macros that autocast spells, you can make macros that can do no more than what the in-game macro system can do.
That means no spell rotation programming, no auto-casting, no delay/timers, no repeat/autofire macros. Basically the macro buttons should be treated like no more than any other keybinding you have in the game. |

With one exception that I know of, one key/button press must equal one action.
The exception is the command to make your pet attack (hunters/warlocks/mages). It can be macro'd with another ability and both will be actioned on a single keypress. I have 1 for example like this /petattack /cast hunters mark Delays and repeats and programmed automatic rotations are a big no no. |

Right ok thought it would be best to ask first, I orginally got it because of 8 buttons which can be binded to spells, so it shall remain for that purpose only. :)
thanks for replying |

Yeah it basically got a "ghost macro" driver which can record you pressing different spells. I wouldn't really see a relevant purpose for it really since I'm a warrior and need certain spells for different situations. Like i said, just wanted to use the 8 buttons its got.

big no no.
good to ask first than to risk it and find out the hard way |

With one exception that I know of, one key/button press must equal one action. Hm, not sure if that's correct. Otherwise macros that pops all cd's wouldn't be allowed? |
Wrong. One action = One Global Cooldown. If your multiple cooldowns doesnt trigger more than one global cooldown then it is completely allright. I got a macro activating a potion, Demon soul etc, which works fine within the macro system in WoW, which really is the only limitation you will have to think of when it comes to hardware which can record keypresses. |
