The Scroll of Resurrection has just been infused with powerful glyphs, making it more potent than ever before! During this limited-period offer, both you and friends of your choice can gain awesome benefits and rewards by partaking in the process of 'resurrecting' a World of Warcraft player.

————————————————————————————————————————————————

TL;DR? We've turned the instructions here into 2 videos on YouTube!

————————————————————————————————————————————————

What has changed in this implementation of the Scroll?

  • Potential accounts no longer need to be inactive for 90 days. However, one account can still accept only one scroll of resurrection. The number of accepted scrolls has been reset on 5th of March, 2012 for all accounts.
  • There is no longer a 'hard' limit on how many Scrolls of Resurrection you can send.
  • The Scroll of Resurrection can now be sent both in the account management page and in-game (via the social interface)
  • There are new additional benefits available for both the recruiter and the returning player. See the rest of the thread for details.

Cut to the chase! What are these new rewards?!

The player sending the scroll of resurrection will be now earn a new flying mount for returning a friend to the game! Alliance characters will receive a Spectral Gryphon, while Horde characters will be able to ride a Spectral Windrider.

The player accepting the scroll of resurrection will receive 7 days of free game time to be able to experience the game anew. Additionally, he will also receive some benefits that are completely new to the Scroll of Resurrection feature: they will be able to upgrade their account to Cataclysm for free, if they haven’t done so, they will be able to boost one of their characters to level 80 and rejoin their friend on the realm and faction where they currently reside.

Since the overall process of both sending and receiving the Scroll of Resurrection has been changed considerably, we'll be covering both of these individually in the following supporting articles:

Sending a Scroll of Resurrection

Via account management

The Scroll of Resurrection can still be sent the same old-fashioned way as always. Just log into your Battle.net account management page, select the World of Warcraft license you want to send it from, select the Referrals & Rewards tab. There you will be able to find the link to the Scroll of Resurrection page. You can immediately see that the page underwent some changes. It is quite similar to the Refer a Friend page. You can now see the status of already sent Scrolls in the History tab, accept a received invitation in its own dedicated tab or send one yourself. There is even a new Instructions tab!

One of the main changes to the process consists of you having to select the in-game character you are sending an invitation from, so that your friend will be able to join you by using the free provided transfer and faction change services. This character will also automatically receive the spectral flying mount if your friend chooses to continue playing World of Warcraft and purchases more game time.

You can also identify your friend either by their character name on a specific realm, or by their Battle.net account name. As usual, you will also be able to send them a small custom message.

Via in-game

You also have a completely new option! You can now send a Scroll of Resurrection without having to log into account management. Just open your friends list directly in-game and you will see a new Scroll of Resurrection button. You will be prompted to enter their email address and a small custom message. Done!

Feeling a bit confused about the new system? Don’t worry; we’ve prepared a special support site article that has a step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots of each step:

http://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/sor-walkthrough

We would also like to pre-emptively answer some questions that you might be thinking about:

Can I resurrect one of my own World of Warcraft accounts?
Yes, you can send a Scroll of Resurrection to your own Battle.net account and will be able to accept it if you have a World of Warcraft license that meets the eligibility requirements.

Does a sent scroll of resurrection have an expiration date?
Unfortunately, yes, it is a perishable product. A scroll is only valid for 30 days from the moment it has been sent.

You’ve mentioned the absence of a 'hard' cap of the number of Scrolls I can send. Are there any other limitations?
Indeed, there is no longer a cap of Scrolls you can send. However, you can only send 2 scrolls per day – one through the in-game interface and one through Battle.net account management.

When will I receive the mount?
Your friend will have to pay for 30 days of game time for you to qualify for the mount. You will need to send it to a character of your choice through Battle.net account management in the Scroll of Resurrection page.

Please note that you will only get the mount after the payment has been processed, which in turn only happens after the 7 days of free game time that comes with accepting a Scroll of Resurrection has expired. However, the mount will be sent immediately if a Game Time Card is added to the resurrected account.

I’ve sent a Scroll of Resurrection to my friend and he purchased additional game time but I still can't claim my mount. Why?

First of all, you have to make sure that your friend accepted the Scroll of Resurrection that you sent. Visit the Scroll of Resurrection page to find out if that’s the case. Remember that a player can only accept one Scroll of Resurrection, and your friend may have accepted an invitation from someone else first.

https://eu.battle.net/account/management/wow/services/sor-status.html

Can I send another Scroll of Resurrection invite to a friend if the first one expires?
Yes, if the invite you have sent expires after 30 days, you can send another one to them.

Receiving a Scroll of Resurrection

As always, you will receive the Scroll of Resurrection as an e-mail, sent to your Battle.net account address. From there you just have to click on the Play Free Now button, which will automatically redirect you to your Battle.net account management page. There you will be able to select the World of Warcraft license you want to have resurrected.

However, this is the point where the new system differs from the old. You will be taken to the Received Invitations page of the Scroll of Resurrection service where you will be able to select the invitation which you want to accept. Don’t forget that you can only accept one Scroll of Resurrection on one World of Warcraft license!

After accepting a Scroll of Resurrection your account will be immediately granted 7 days of free game time and upgraded to Cataclysm. Then you will be prompted to either Claim Rewards right away, or you can leave that process for later if you like.

Claiming your rewards!

The new rewards will help you get a head start in discovering the content of Cataclysm while doing so with the help of your friend who decided to get you back into the game! To facilitate that we have provided you with an opportunity to boost one of your existing characters directly to level 80. You will also receive a special package of gear for a specialisation of your choice to get you started levelling as soon as possible! The process of selecting that character is quite straightforward, however, please remember that this action is a one time only opportunity and cannot be reversed.

If you have any trouble at any stage you can always refer back to a support site article that has a step-by-step walkthrough:

http://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/sor-walkthrough

We would also like to pre-emptively answer some questions that you might be thinking about:

I know my friend sent me a Scroll of Resurrection but I haven’t received it
Scrolls of Resurrection are sent out once a day, so it could take up to 24 hours for it to show up in your mailbox. Also, make sure that you haven’t recently changed your Battle.net account name – the Scroll has to be sent to the e-mail address that corresponds to your Battle.net account name. Also, don’t forget to check your spam folder.

Information on how to ensure that you can receive e-mails from Blizzard can be found in our Support Article here.

If you have tried this and are still unable to see the e-mail, please give this a try:

  • Go to eu.battle.net and enter the wow section.
  • Click on Referrals & Rewards ---> Scroll of Resurrection.
  • Check the received option and the invite should be shown in there.
[/ul]
I’ve decided to not claim my additional rewards immediately. Can I still do it later?
Yes! That option will be available on the Scroll of Resurrection page until you accept them.

What happens to the inventory and skills of the character that is boosted to 80?
Any items equipped on the character before being boosted to level 80 will be sent back by the in-game mail system. The character will also be granted all of the class skills up to level 80, a flying mount and riding skill. Your brand new levelling gear of the chosen specialisation will be automatically equipped.

Can I choose the destination of my free character transfer or forego the process of faction change?
No, you can either transfer your character to the realm and/or faction of your friend, or forego the process altogether. You will not be able to choose another destination. Remember that this feature only works for the character that has been boosted to level 80.

What happens if I claim the rewards on a character that is level 80 or above?
Characters that are level 80 and above can be chosen to receive the Scroll of Resurrection rewards. These characters will be eligible for a Faction Change and Character Transfer if the Scroll's sender is on another realm and faction, but they will not receive the benefits (items, skills, talents, etc...) from the boost to level 80.

Can I accept multiple Scrolls of Resurrection?
After 5th of March, 2012, you will only be able to accept one Scroll of Resurrection per eligible World of Warcraft license. If you’ve received multiple offers – make sure you are selecting the right one.

Ok he gets for free Cataclysm... its your's politics but tell me - Why he gets lvl 80 for free? I play this game recreating (still I have anual pass) and I have lvl 74. And when I invite my friend he gets instant boost to lvl 80?! Comon. I wont talk about this relam and faction change (because it "can" make sense) but free boost to lvl 80? At least make this boost for both players... Especially that only what I get (as invitor) is gryphon that (in my opinion) Is one of worse mounts i saw... :(

I have a question.

Your friend has 30 days to accept the invitation. The offer will expire if not used within that time.

So if I send the request to my friend and he doesn't accept in the next 30 days will I be able to send him another request after that? I couldn't find anything about that matter while reading the FAQ.

I have 2 questions regarding SoR, hope I can get a blue response before I reactivate my account.

How is this 7 free days work? I mean, when I accept the scroll I have to wait to pass the free 7 days before I subscribe, or if I subscribe right away the 7 days will be added to my play time, so I will have like 38 subscription days?

If right now Im on a 10 days Cata trial activated through the account management, can I still accept/activate the scroll or I need to wait until the active trial period expires?

Thanks in advance.

I would love a blue response on this matter because on my account it writes: "you dont have an active subscription" even if my current status sayz "trial". I stopped playin before Cataclysm hit the market. And the current trial period will end in 1 hour.

Also, I would love to have a blue response regarding the 7 days free if I will use the scroll I got today. Because I tend to use the 7 days free before I resubscribe, but my friend that sent me the scroll is eager to receive his mount :) So he is pushing me to hit the subscribe button, but I dont wanna loose the free 7 days.
