a silence?
|
|
I don't know if this has already been brought up, but damn it'd be nice with a silence like Garrote.
|
If I remember correctly, we were supposed to get the same in Cata too. I won't keep my hopes up. |
|
Meh, I'd prefer a strangulate-like ability to an AOE blind.
DKs had the exact same AOE thingie in the form of instant cast Hungering Cold, and it was damn OP. I really don't understand why they're giving the same thing to ret palas in MoP. |
|
Well, if it works like Howl from Locks it could be ok.
As in, you can potentially blind for up to 5 people, but it has a range so if they are not "stacked", you won't be able to cc more than 1 person. The problem with HC was the combination with Grip. Gripping someone and then instant ccing them was too OP. Considering that we don't have such an ability, I can't see it as too bad. Then again, we'd have to see how they make all the talents and then see if it would need a tweak or not. (the problem is that they can "tweak" only the range of the AoE, or duration...everything else is changing the entire ability) |
So, we've just went from DK gripping someone and HC-ing, to DK gripping someone and his pala buddy blinding him? Same crap, just requires some basic teamwork. We're getting ranged snares in MoP (on judgement), making it even easier to prevent opponents from running out of range. Meh... I don't like instant cast cc, let alone instant cast AOE cc. I liked it best in vanilla and TBC when death coil was the only instant cc I had as a lock, and locks were considered a heavy cc class at the time. |

Dks still grips towards their Lock/priest and then they howl/scream. Big difference of 1 person being able to do it, and it requiring 2 people. But, as I said earlier, we need to see the rest of the talents (for all classes) and then see if it would be OP or not.
Doesn't mean we will get it. |
it's a 3min cd thing... u got the idea? So? Force trinket with standard cc chains. 1 minute later, when HoJ is back up, you can grip + aoe blind the healer and then follow up with hoj > repentance > strangulate > hungering cold etc. It doesn't even have to be a DK. You can have a hunter scatter + trap the healer, sprint towards him as the trap is about to run out, and follow it up with the blind > hoj > repentance, etc. I sincerely don't think instant cast AOE blinds are a great thing. :p |
Dks still grips towards their Lock/priest and then they howl/scream. Fear effects have a lot more counters than blind effects. Tremor totem, fear ward, that warrior berzerker rage thingie, etc. all come to mind. |
Exactly :) Out of a class who is horrible at cc, paladins all of a sudden have 3(!) ccs? One of them AOE? One being spammable? I really doubt that. |

As someone above said, I would gladly welcome an ability on the line of Death Knights' Strangulate, but that... just won't happen. It could, in my opinion, be a talent that replace the current t2 talent " Burden of Guilt ". It's a slow on a 6 seconds cooldown ( maybe it will be a magic effect, so dispellable, but we don't know at the moment, although dispels will be on a 8 seconds cooldown ) and it slows the target by 50%. To be a talent it seems pretty poor to me. There are far more powerful slows in the game, and they are baseline abilities. Talents points will be precious in MoP and from a PvP point of view a slow is, in many situation, mandatory. I think it should be a baseline ability for Retribution Paladins. I could be wrong but.. I don't know, for being a talent, it seems poor.

dont forget u will have to get REP OR HOJ..... |
|

Don't be blind, we'll have our HoJ anyways without spending any talent points. It's FoJ or Repentance. HoJ has a minute cooldown, 10yard range, FoJ has a half minute cooldown, 20yard range. FoJ replaces HoJ if talented, both are 6 second stuns. |
